I know I shouldn’t complain, but this game is through 3 innings in 90 minutes. On pace for a 4.5 hour game. The Red Sox and Yankees approve.

Feel free to record and come back with FF button at the ready. I watched through the 2nd, watched an hour show (minus commercials) and resumed the game in the 5th.Snowcool08 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02 8:41 pmI know I shouldn’t complain, but this game is through 3 innings in 90 minutes. I don’t recall a run down leading to an advanced base much less 2!

I’ll do you one better. I have a two TV setup. Twins moved to the second TV. It’s on mute. I watched the hockey game on the main TV until that was over then some Netflix. I regularly have the Twins games on as my background noise when I’m at work. Better than missing the whole game!
Re: Minnesota Twins 2014-2020: Here's Your Damn Thread
Agreed. When a game is going I always have it on whether I'm watching it or not, unless the wife uses her supreme veto powers of course.

I am building kitchen cabinets in my shop right now for the last leg of our total home remodel this fall. I don’t spend a lot of time in the shop in the summer but this year I have been out there daily. I have never listened to so much Twins baseball as I have this year and I have come to enjoy the sounds in the background while I am working. All of the things I love about baseball, the crack of the bat, snap of the glove....comes out just perfectly without a ton of crowd noise. Good stuff.

Not giving him time off is the reason he had to go on the IL in the first place. He had a subluxation in his left shoulder, which is the shoulders that takes all the brunt of the swing. It's going to get inflamed and too painful to play through if he burns it up every day. And with the double headers coming up this weekend, it's going to get plenty of use.

Arraez has been dealing with a nagging knee injury most of the year. Sounds like it won't be a major issue.

At what point is he going to be able to play multiple days in a row? Just seems weird to sit him that long and then rest him after one game. I’d think they’d just sit him until he is actually ready to play every day. His inability to stay in the lineup is really a bummer.Beauner wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03 12:58 pmNot giving him time off is the reason he had to go on the IL in the first place. One last thing about Blyleven. Unless I missed it, there was no customary goodbye video montage. My guess is that is was not a mutual decision for Bert to head into the sunset. IIRC, he was a bit surly when they cut his games the last few years. Plus, he thanked the Twins, fans etc, but never mentioned FSN. Not a huge deal, but I thought both sides would at least fake it for the last game.

Did you read Lavelle's tweet? Cave hit a grand slam off Lopez in Chicago and proceeded to go yard on him in this game as well. Double header sweep. Nice.
I agree it is silly to bring extra laundry for one game, but it was still interesting to see a "home" team wear gray.

I’m in HOUGHTON drinking at a local watering hole and I watched the end of the game on my phone. I said Buxton is the only one could have pulled that off. And also said a little too loudly “suck it Detroit!”

MLB replay is so freaking atrocious. You can clearly see he doesn't touch the plate. They look for 2 minutes. Still call him safe.

Yes the limestone is in play. Dumb ground rule or not, doesn't excuse Rosario walking after the ball while runners are still taking bases.

I was most annoyed that Dick wouldn’t $h!t up about it considering both base runners would have scored on the next hit anyway.....or the hit after that.

He seems to have lost a little zip this year. Which is bad, considering he had very little zip to begin with. His pitch shapes are all quality, but when its coming in at 87mph you can't afford to miss spots.Bertogliat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06 6:44 pmI was most annoyed that Dick wouldn’t $h!t up about it considering both base runners would have scored on the next hit anyway.....or the hit after that.

Hopefully this off-season they can get him to focus on adding velo and get his fastball back up into the 90-91 range.

Not exactly shocking that Rosario made the dumb decision. He makes Delmon Young look like a genius
Re: Minnesota Twins 2014-2020: Here's Your Damn Thread
I'm a little surprised they are continuing here. The infield is trash. I assume it is due to the shortened season and the issues they've already had with getting these games against Detroit in.

For those who haven't paid attention lately, Jose Berrios made a couple adjustments. And he's been devastatingly good since.
In his last 21.2 IP he had allowed 12 hits, walked 8, struck out 29, and allowed 4 runs.
His stuff looks absolutely electric today.

He's throwing a wiffle ball today.

I've said he has great talent but also question his status as an elite pitcher, especially in post season. I've also been critical that he doesn't seem to have a lively arm after 5 innings. (I think part of that is maybe he's fatiguing mentally>)
His past three starts have been great, each better than the last. Today is the best I've ever seen him pitch. Everything he's throwing is razor sharp. If he can pitch like this in big games, he gives the Twins a huge post season weapon.

Going into today the Twins would play CLE in the first round. Yankees have a 1.5 game lead on BAL for the 8th seed

The way MLB has been changing rules throughout the season there will be a rule change that makes it so they play the Yankees in Round 1

Berrios had a nice start yesterday, and it looked like he was going to go deep into the game. Alas, he frayed and was pulled again *sigh* in the 6th.
It seems like Berrios is like a lithium battery. When he's done, he's done.

Of a 7 inning game. Though I agree, this tends to happen.streakygopher wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09 10:26 amBerrios had a nice start yesterday, and it looked like he was going to go deep into the game. Alas, he frayed and was pulled again *sigh* in the 6th.

Yes, I failed to consider the short game; however, almost like clockwork Berrios' concentration waned. He'll never be an elite talent if he can't man handle a hitting line up for more innings.Goldy77 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10 7:04 amOf a 7 inning game. Romo is going to get Cruz or Sano a fastball in the ribs if he continues his actions. I'm all for an enthusiastic player, but it seems Romo is really pushing the envelope this year. I say this as a Romo fan.
Rogers makes me nervous every time he enters the game. Not sure what he is missing this year, but something is off.
I know it is too early to judge a trade, but where would the Twins be this year without Maeda?
Edit-- Romo suspended 1 game and issued a fine.

I'm sorry but I don't find what Romo did to be any worse than what Lindor did. Oh no he talked some smack and gestured? bfd

Or watched the batter as the batter slowly admired his HR. That sort of thing.

Romo is a dbag. Classic guy that wants to celebrate anything positive that he does, but also wants to be offended by anybody on the other team that does the same. Certainly keeps things interesting, but you could tell by Sano's response that it's a tired act.

Twins are 20-5 at home in front of no one
Gophers were 4-1 in the last two years in front of basically no one during Big Ten first round
You got this, Vikings.

Rooker broke his forearm when he got hit by that pitch. His season is done. Hopefully Kepler comes back sooner rather than later.

Kepler should be back as soon as his IL 10-day stint is up from what I've heard/read. Was one of those "he'll probably be ready in 4-5 days", but with arraez already dealing with a nagging injury they didn't want to risk being short a bench guy.Snowcool08 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12 11:32 pmRooker broke his forearm when he got hit by that pitch.
