The constant bouncing between the plazas/cities...I don't mind it, was just a little "whoa, okay, here we go." The actual relationships, the relationships within those locations are moving quickly, but the overall good guys vs bad guys is moving slowly.Bigbeer wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14 7:31 pmThat’s funny, I also got 3 eps in the first day it was released. They are making the moving parts MOVE. Every cog in motion, a little chaotic at times in the way they are telling it, but, that IS how this whole business works...will be interested to see how they go forward with it. A nice character drop-in, to add to one from last season, and they both are in the continuation of the true story...I liked that.

Narcos Mexico S2:
Well, that sure finished strong. Hope they renew the series. If one knows the true story, then one recognizes some characters that are in place for that next chapter.

Wow the screwjob in E5 of Narcos: M S2 was crazy! Just finished 7 and it's setting up nicely.
I know likely some of the characters you're referring to in guessing if they'll focus on Mexico at least one more season. I do wonder if another series that already recently happened regarding one of the major players will deter them from going down that road or not? I think they will stay on that path, but it will be pretty uneventful for me personally if that is the case.

btw I was not aware that in real time the fall of Gallardo happened before that of Escobar. The latter must not have had any dealings with the former since I don't think he's been mentioned even since during either season.

Gallardo and Escobar met once during season 1, but that's about it.

Re: Television
I have a small beef with the poetic license they took to tell the story. I realize it's not unusual for movies and shows to create characters (often a composite character of actual persons, something also done in Cherynoby) and that doing so doesn't necessarily take away from the broader truth. But I could have done without some of the drama with Walt (brother and SIL for instance) including the end scene with Gallardo. I realize that scene was for the purpose of setting up Season 3 but I could have done without it.

S5 Better Call Saul premiere:
Solid start...the black and white portion (which is the post-Breaking Bad storyline) was VERY interesting. Could we see what the endgame is for that plot? A sort of El Camino for Saul?
Kim's storyline...hoo boy. The inner conflict she has with Saul/Jimmy is massive, almost at a breaking point. How it ends up...could go in any direction.
The Lalo/Mike/Gus/Nacho vein of the story, well, how it comes to a head should be a fun ride. It was interesting to see how Mike is handling the current situation.

At least we made it through the season (can attend games that would be on FSN, semis/final probably on BTN), but YTTV will be canceled if it's not back by next season then.

Drive to Survive S2 was good and will help continue to gain fans for F1. They missed a few obvious must haves from last season. Why not show the battles between Leclerc and Verstappen, and why not show more of the most exciting race in years?

I don't know why, but I was somewhat skeptical of Westworld S3, but after E1 I could not have been more wrong. My goodness it was everything the series has been so far and imho suggests additional promise. it created such a visceral reaction on many levels that if they can deliver on the opening, S3 looks to be as good as ever and I cannot wait for more.

Watched first episode of Ozark season three. Like many series they have to create a new crisis for the characters to work they out of. It is very well acted though and we especially get a kick out of potty mouthed blonde who runs the casino. Don't have to go back to work until Tuesday so may be able to finish by then.

Top Chef S17 – All Stars. Survivor S40 – Winners At War.
I’m really enjoying both of these seasons so far. It probably helps that I no longer watch every season so they’re not as stale as they might feel as stale as they might otherwise. Both have changed things up just enough to make them interesting without ruining the spirit of what made them fun to watch at the start.

Same, maybe 20 seconds, but never a whole minute. I always wondered what they and the production crew talk about and eat and drink when the camera's not rolling. "Hey Tarzan, any steak left? You Jane, throw me another beer! And bring me that mosquito spray!"
Completely fake TV.

The sanctimony.
Of course the producers try to push narratives here and there duh, but no participants don't get to secretly nosh on food wh6e the cameras are off. I know someone that's been on the show, but also anyone with an eye can see the tremendous amount of weight loss contestants go through when they last well into a season.
I don't care - everyone has 1 fluff show they watch if they're being honest and this one is mine.

Very well done, and the message of "truth hidden" is exactly why I love looking into Russian history and goings on. There are shady stories with every country, and while North Korea is back to back to back to back etc champs at it, Russia is right up there. It's fascinating.
Note: this is not a political statement, this is a historical statement with no political opinion forthcoming.

The show takes place in Derry (Londonderry for some) Northern Ireland toward the end of "The Troubles" in the 90s and it's extremely well written and acted.
The show may have the best nun character I've seen since 'the penguin' in The Blues Brothers....she is fantastic.

Closed Captioning is strongly suggested.
The same creator/writer also has a show on Amazon Prime called London Irish about four 20-somethings living in London that is basically an Irish version of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. British people absolutely hated it--some of the stereotypes probably hit too close over there--so it only got six episodes, but I enjoyed it.

Re: Television
Fargo season 4 has been delayed due to the coronavirus. It was scheduled to debut on the 19th. Why would you delay releasing it when everyone is at home looking for new content to watch?
Re: Television
Not really. They would have had three months until the episodes actually aired, and they filmed the first eight episodes in about five months.

Re: Television
Was somewhat intrigued by La Casa, but nah, not for me. Def not Fargo, zero interest in that.
Re-watched S1 of True Detective this weekend. It holds up.
Thinking I might start La Reina Del Sur (USA network remade it as Queen Of The South). I do like the USA series, it's well done.

What's the reason for that? S1 was ridiculously good including BBT, S2 was a bit of a step back however Bokeem Woodbine was tremendous, and S3 with Ewan McGregor wasn't quite a s good as 1 but better than 2. Very solid story telling and cinematography as well throughout.
Currently under construction.

There is a YouTube channel called The Shows Must Go On. Every Friday for 48 hours they will have a free Andrew Lloyd Webber show. This week’s is Jesus Christ Superstar.
I wish I had known this last week when they showed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (where Donnie Osmond played Joseph), but anyone into Broadway will enjoy this

I’m not much for musicals or religion, but thoroughly enjoyed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (with Donnie Osmond) twice when I was much younger.

We go to a fair # of Musicals (19 different ones based on the Playbills we have) and have tickets for Frozen next month. Sadly the Frozen one is a birthday present for our daughter so we are going to have to tell her it’s likely postponed or canceled

Re: Television
My daughter is into musicals. Last year we went to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Orpheum as her Christmas present. That was a pretty neat experience for me because the closest I have been to a musical since 2nd grade was running a spotlight for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 8th grade. This year we went to An American in Paris here in Fargo since my wife was 8 months pregnant.davescharf wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12 7:20 amThey haven’t released the schedule but I’d love to see Evita. Anyway, those folks are so talented. My entire life has spent judging talent on athletic accomplishments and it was really narrow-minded. I now have a whole new appreciation for the arts.

This week’s free performance is Phantom of the Opera. It’s from 2011 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It goes live Friday at 1:00 CDT for 48 hours
I’m excited about this because Phantom is my favorite musical.

Wow was I wrong. S3 went downhill between E2 and 5 so fast I am not sure they'll be able to survive it. My goodness I can't think of a bigger downfall from such a high from any show that I personally placed so high on my own top list. Just brutal.Slap Shot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17 1:55 pmI don't know why, but I was somewhat skeptical of Westworld S3, but after E1 I could not have been more wrong. S1 was absolutely brilliant, I loved it. Wish it would have just been a mini-series.

So many series are stretching after the first two seasons to keep you interested. Season 3 was as good or better than the first two seasons. I would expect a few Emmys.
