Ahcan was a punk. Not only were the hits really close to being headshots, he was clearly following through with his shoulder and elbow. He was chirping with the entire PSU bench on the way out.

Don't recall hearing Caulfeld's name at all in the third period.
Didn’t hear Caufield’s name because with the lead PSU played smart and dumped the puck in and made them play in there own end. Kid leads the NCAA in goal scoring and will score a ton of goals in the NHL.

With 10 seniors, a size advantage, and a better goalie PSU was the better team last night.

The whole Ahcan thing started when a PSU guy nailed Vorlicky in the NZ. I like a guy who sticks up for his teammates. That said the first hit was a penalty, and we got to see why 8 times.

Once people stop the support of JoePa and the rest of the crew, then I will stop. The culture has not changed. They still worship that era.

And as others have brought up, what about Whioux, JBSU, Landcows, etc. And those are mostly jokes. This is about child abuse.

It's not a flippant reference, like "Husky women!" It's a real attitude that exists. As long as that reverence exists, I shall refer to them as Pedo State. There are defenders of JoePa and Co that remain. It's sick.

It would be sweet to see Niagara upset Denver tonight. They were leading last night for a period. Doubtful, but it would be a boost for the Gophers pairwise if Niagara wins a bunch of games this year.

As expected, NCHC closing non conf gap and doesn't have a 10 game slot against AHA teams to help them.

The UMD Bulldogs are wearing decals on the back of their helmets this weekend in honor of 13-year-old Eagan youth hockey player Patric Vitek, who was hit by a car and killed last week while riding his bike to school. Bulldogs senior defenseman and co-captain Nick Wolff is a native of Eagan.

Those teams with a bunch of young first round picks often start the season slow.

Like the BU teams of recent years, I expect them to make the tournament and after that who knows if they'll get anywhere.

I’m not saying he’s not a great defensive player, or is the problem, or has to crush anybody. But when He has an angle on a guy in the neutral zone he will try to poke check the guy nine times out of ten. To me a good clean body check separates the guy from the puck.

When the playoffs start and the intensity ratchets up. It’s the same Mikko poke checking.

To compare Wayne Gretzky and Cole Caufield to Mikko Koivu is ridiculous. Both players are 165 lbs. soaking wet.
Koivu is 6ft 3 and 215 lbs. In his last 240 games has 123 hits.

To compare Wayne Gretzky and Cole Caufield to Mikko Koivu is ridiculous. Both players are 165 lbs. soaking wet.
Koivu is 6ft 3 and 215 lbs. In his last 240 games has 123 hits.
Almost as ridiculous as complaining about the way Mikko Koivu plays defense

Never said anything about the way he plays defense. Just how he pokes checks instead of body checking.

RARELY do I give the nod to J22...but he’s got ya on that one GS. Koivu May poke check a lot...but one thing he is...is outstanding defensively (as a center). Now he pretty much sucks offensively as a center, but ya can’t legitimately criticize has defensive abilities (even thou he don’t ever body check anyone) 😉

Places to avoid on that weekend: Nashville

UND is clearly the number one program for that game though in the eyes of the powers that be, and it's justified.

A pound of wings is what.....8 ounces of meat?

I am not going to read a Star Tribune article but it doesn’t sound like a huge hurdle.

A lb of bone-in wings is nothing. Someone on KFAN (I think it was Barreiro) was talking about this the other day.

He didn't even see the ice here in Mankato when ASU played here last month and I don't think he had seen the ice in any other game as well. I don't think he wanted to wait to develop or earn any ice time, this is part my assumption to go along with what a ASU Dad told me when they were here in Mankato.

I don't want to place this in the Gopher season thread where this discussion is taking place but I want to reference the attendance here in Mankato. I do think price plays a huge part in attendance because with game tickets here in Mankato at $18 they are putting an average of 4,000 in the arena most every WCHA game. They had 4,100 and 4,500 this past weekend vs. fricking Alaska Anchorage...who the hell wants to watch AA? I'll give covenant claps to Mav fans for showing up to a worthless series vs. AA, Friday was a blowout but Saturday was a much closer game which was decent to watch.

I know though with the Gophers it isn't the tickets sales being the problem, it's the no-shows that are at the base of it. How do you get fans back in the door? Winning consistently will help, and I think that is the big part of the recent increase in butts in the seats here in Mankato. The Mavs win most nights at home and it is a good product to watch on the ice. This past weekend at Mariucci I think it was a good series to watch, from my vantage point at home on tv so it should have been great IRL. Once Bob gets a consistent team on the ice, and it is a process that is trending in the right direction, I think the butts in the seats problem will settle itself out.

Ticket sales are a problem too. They sold the same amount for uw on Friday as one of the Niagara games... If the arena is exciting to be at more people with ST will show up.

If he goes back to the USHL does he have to return to his last team he played for ( SF Stampede) or can he pick where he wants to go? Also, any idea where he is going? BCHL? The article just said he is going back to juniors, but not where.

Not sure if it's a requirement, but it was just announced that he did go to the Stampede.

USHL teams have a separate protected list for former players that are in the NCAA but still have junior eligibility, so Stauber's rights were still held by Whioux Falls. If it was a situation where the player wanted to go somewhere else, more often than not, a trade would be worked out.

Power surge in Canal Park killed the lights during play. The older style lights need 15 minutes to cool off and restart. How did the build that joint without LED’s?!?

Well...I’m over in Superior tonight...and believe me...it’s a TOTAL white out Blizzard outside☝️Since the Purple Cows team & NCHA offIcials were already in nearby hotels where they could literally walk to Amsoil threw the skyway in Duluth (if necessary) and there were no good make up dates available, they decided to go ahead and play the game. BTW, the UMD AD told ticket holders that if they choose not to attend the game, they’ll most likely receive an equal 💵 value credit towards another Bulldog game during the 2019-2020 season if they reach out to the ticket office.
