I don't want to place this in the Gopher season thread where this discussion is taking place but I want to reference the attendance here in Mankato. I do think price plays a huge part in attendance because with game tickets here in Mankato at $18 they are putting an average of 4,000 in the arena most every WCHA game. They had 4,100 and 4,500 this past weekend vs. fricking Alaska Anchorage...who the hell wants to watch AA? I'll give covenant claps to Mav fans for showing up to a worthless series vs. AA, Friday was a blowout but Saturday was a much closer game which was decent to watch.
I know though with the Gophers it isn't the tickets sales being the problem, it's the no-shows that are at the base of it. How do you get fans back in the door? Winning consistently will help, and I think that is the big part of the recent increase in butts in the seats here in Mankato. The Mavs win most nights at home and it is a good product to watch on the ice. This past weekend at Mariucci I think it was a good series to watch, from my vantage point at home on tv so it should have been great IRL. Once Bob gets a consistent team on the ice, and it is a process that is trending in the right direction, I think the butts in the seats problem will settle itself out.
