He wasn't Bob's guy so he had no problem putting him where he deserved to be based on his play. He thinks in slow motion most of the time out there.
Lead us out of Loserville, Bob.
104 big four seasons with no finals appearance
Times advanced in playoffs last 15 seasons: Vikings 3, Wild 2, Twins 0, Wolves 0
1967 last football conference title, 1982 last basketball conference title, 2003 last hockey national championship

Yeah I'm not saying Bob is wrong here, just pointing out a noticeable contrast in terms of how he was used. I didn't think he looked bad his freshman year but part of that is due to having fast skilled linemates creating a ton of space for you. IDK if the injuries held him back or not last year but he wasn't very noticeable and I would agree that he didn't look fast at all (though like you said it's more decision making than straight line speed).
<GophDogFan> yep, so sad... you have a new moment, when your uncle gets mad because you got the best of him. the last straw was when i told him that UND's hockey program is like crystal pepsi: Nobody every liked it.

I hope Reedy will stay healthy so we can see if he lives up to his potential.

If Reedy can take the next step, then I love the line of him with Nelson and Sorenson. Sorenson has shown some playmaking ability. And Nelson is a hoss who can man the front of the net. Those three could really compliment each other nicely.

Looking at single game tix online. Along with the price they now show a fee. And the fee is different for different opponents. Like $9 for UND, and $3 for MSU.

What's that all about now?

Try to find a season ticket holder to be the middle man to purchase the tickets avoid the fees. The other point is if the arena will be half full of Whioux fans, just as well make some money on them.

The fees have been there for years and they change based on the price of the ticket itself.

Based on the tix I picked up for UND, the fee appears to be 10% of the ticket price.
I have GOT to stop saying "How stupid can you get"
Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

This sounds similar to past years.
55 dollar ticket, 5.5 but round down to 5
40 dollar ticket, 4 dollar fee
And so on

What's the fee for though? If it's handling, does it cost more to handle tickets for UND than to handle tickets for MSU?

Well yeah, you hold those und tickets like they are gold, michigan state tickets are like holding on a bag of 6 month old halloween candy

Based on credit card company (or just major monetary companies), they charge a percentage for every transaction made so this is likely what its for--> to recoup those costs

Starting to see some more consistency to lines at the last couple skill sessions. Reedy has been back skating this week, but is still working his way back.

27 McLaughlin - 9 Walker - 21 Burke
58 Ranta - 39 Meyers - 7 McManus
17 Wait - 25 Perbix - 22 Brodzinski
11 Sorenson - 24 Nelson - 12 Marooney - 13 Munson - 19 Reedy

I'm seeing Ryan Johnson and Jackson LaCombe both working on their off side as defensemen. The only right shot D are Nanne and Stucker. We're seeing a pair of Zuhlsdof-Nanne together quite a bit.

Countdown to Puck Drop will be 1 to 3 with locker room tours, autographs, open skate and the team has a practice scheduled following the event.

Curious if there’s been any shuffling since last week if you or anyone else has attended any practices lately.

Also is Reedy expected back soon (not sure of his injury)?

The transaction fee would maybe be 2.5%, and if they wanted, they could build that into the price for the ticket. It's a marketing strategy that they can advertise lower prices and by the time the person gets that far into the buying process, they just sigh and pay it because it's only another 10%. It sucks, but it's basically the law of the land for selling tickets online now. Minnesota's service fee is far from the most egregious.

We were predicting Walker as captain since that weekend last year when he was the only one willing to go into a scrum for the M.

The Gophers are not ranked in the top 20 in the preseason poll. UMD is ranked number one as expected. At least until the Gophers beat them again this year. Hopefully the Gophers will be able to use this as motivation and be much improved by the end of the year.

They're in the national polls (PSU), too. Not an uncommon belief.

Who cares? Preseason polls dont matter when they pick us for whatever stupid reason they choose to and they dont matter now. If the team is good enough preseason polls wont matter.

Why Penn State? Notre Dame I get. BADgers SUCK SUCK have a ton of incoming talent. OSU given the benefit of that doubt after a good season last year. What did Penn State add or bring back thats so outstanding?
Clayton Phillips :D They are bringing back a ton of scoring and their main goalie.
Clayton Phillips would be enough to put them last in the B1G for me. Peyton Jones is marginal at best. Nowhere near a game changer like Morris or Nappier. I didn’t vote for this

Sure hope so! But it would be super embarrassing if their fans did the same chant, if at the time we are not even rated.

Ya we don't need to be chanting that ugh we should be a program that can compete in any game, which is pretty much the case. Therefore us winning any given night isn't a big surprise, especially in the Big Ten.

Maybe if we're number 2 and number 1 is in town, just for shits and giggles.

True....

In reality.... No polls matter.

It's the Pairwise that means EVERYTHING. Because it is that calculation that gets you in to the tournament.

I’ve never understood the “overrated” chant. So the other team suck because they lost to our team? Are we really trying to point out it’s bad to lose to our team?

That’s embarrassing on its own?

Well, take a look at my signature and the overrated chant was heard that night and rightfully so. We used it once in HS hockey when Moorhead (AA) was ranked in the top 10 of that poll and we were unranked in EGF (A) and we beat them 5-3 or something like that in Moorhead. The EGF student section chanted overrated to a silent arena.

It stings on the receiving end as much as it feels good on the winning end. It may be bad to lose to our team, but when your team is ranked so much higher it is justified.
"Hard work will beat talent, if talent doesn't work hard"
Doug Woog - 1990

This quote was written on the chalkboard in a lockeroom in the old Ralph Engelstad arena my Squirt team used the day after the Gophers used it and came into the game ranked #1 in the nation and lost 6-1 to a second rate Whioux team.

Overhead on SiouxSports.com - Why does every thread always turn into a "Gopher" thread? Is there a secret infatuation with them?

HS hockey is not Gopher or college hockey. That chant isn't needed at Mariucci.

Polls are for podcasts--gives us something to talk about each week. I have no idea how things are going to shake out this year.

Polls should come with teh required financial disclosure that past performance is not a predictor of future performance and future outlook is intended as likely. They're a snapshot of how everyone is performing comparatively to each other as of that point. So, for that, they're great to use to go back and see how teams looked at a point in time. But meaning for predictive reasons? No.

People get really fired up about polls lmao

Going into the season we are the fourth best team in the state. That sucks but the hockey starts this weekend and we hope the team proves that to be wrong.

Does anyone really have someone in their life that goes on about a poll so much so that qualifiers need to be discussed? I think most reasonable understand what polls mean and how much value they have or don't have. Every year someone feels the need to say the only thing that matters is the PWR and it seems like a Captain Obvious statement in this day and age.

I wasn’t really serious about a disclaimer. Only that it’s reflective of a point in time and predicts nothing.

Given who we lost and that it's being replaced by freshmen (on top of our final PWR ranking last season) I can see why we're outside the top 20 in the preseason polls. Hopefully they exceed expectations.

We're at 21 if you count "others receiving votes" - it's not like they think we're going to go winless and shutdown the program. Besides, all that matters is what happens on the ice. Just go win.

BTW.... I cannot get ANYTHING of substance out of anyone with connections about who is going to be the TV announcer. But I am not exactly pushing it either .

All I know is that they have made their choice and we just need to be patient until the announcement. So we'll all just have to wait.
