Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
I am guessing the BTN schedule will be.
But they may wait until they decide on a announcer selection before putting out the FSN schedule.
Though I do know that both Niagara games will be on FSN or FSN+
Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
It can just be arena noise and I'd be fine with that over what we've had to deal with.

Single game for the series in Notre Dame (Feb 14-15) are on sale now.
We have a group of 11 going out. Would love to see more maroon and gold out there, it’s a great road trip and hopefully the series will be as awesome as last year’s regular season games were.

I live out here and I believe single tickets are going on sale on the 21st. You should have no problems getting tickets at the arena, they never sell out.

I really wish we did not have eleven home games between October 18th and November 29th. Then two in December, two non exhibition games in January, and four in February.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
Sad day for Gophers hockey that they can’t sell out a North Dakota game on a holiday weekend. I understand people have plans on Thanksgiving, but Friday should have sold out. The Sue fans look like they bought out most of tickets behind the Gophers goal (cheapest tickets). Hopefully, the Ticket Office sees ticket prices are too high for the premium games.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
You realize that Gophers fans had opportunities to purchase Season Tickets, Mini Packs, State Fair Releases, Gopher Score Presales, along with today’s General Public Sale. Siouxsports.com also announced to their fans that Gophers vs North Dakota tickets were going on sale today. It’s only logical North Dakota fans would buy today.

Fire Don they said. Schedule North Dakota they said. Hire Bob they said. Lower ticket prices they said.
I'll come back to the rink they said? I've heard some interesting ideas about the future of sports facilities this summer, wonder if the UMN might do more than just shrink the rink when they do work on the refrigerant system.

A new hockey/hoops arena that actually brings our facilities into the modern era. Hockey can play at the X for a year or two while under construction and hoops can play at Target Center, it’s perfect.Cowgirl wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23 9:56 pmSuch as....?Vegoe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23 4:27 pmHe wants Gopher fans to have bought all the tickets already.

So the attendance issue is now because of the arena? Are there areas of the arena that could be updated? Sure. The dead horse has been beaten so many times about the issues with Gopher and college hockey already. Just win baby.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
The seats are fairly normal arena/stadium seats.
As far as I know, the suites are fine.
Concessions I'll certainly give you have fallen behind.
Entrances could use some help yes but aren't too bad, really, but I can't think of a good reason to tear down the building because of them.
Parking, they can either put up a couple ramps where there are open air lots now to get more vehicles in nearby, or they'd basically have to move off-campus to make a difference, which isn't going to happen.
As far as a combines basketball/hockey facility? No thanks. Trying to squeeze the two into the same building will always result in some level of compromise between the two, and it's going to be hockey that gets the short end of that.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
My issue with the seats is the bright colors, esp the gold seats, now maybe it’s more to do with the lighting in the building but when the arena is half full those seats stick out like sore thumbs and give the program a bad look. Every seat is no longer full at a place like the Ralph but you would never know due to the black seats and lighting. Hell, the Red Wings replaced all the red seats ONE YEAR into Little Caesar’s arena with black seats because of the look of empty red seats on tv.

Exactly. And the rest of us are saying that yeah, it could use some updating, but that doesn't mean the current facility isn't a good starting point.

Yeah if they can barely scrape together funds for an icesheet re-sizing that is seemingly never going to happen I imagine a new building is less likely.
<GophDogFan> yep, so sad... you have a new moment, when your uncle gets mad because you got the best of him. the last straw was when i told him that UND's hockey program is like crystal pepsi: Nobody every liked it.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
I would agree on maybe needing to update the concessions and bathrooms, but I highly doubt that's why people don't come to the games. I have NEVER said, "hey, I'd love to go watch the Gophers play but I just really don't like the bathrooms."
Lighting seems like an easy fix, just allow the seating area to be dimmer during the periods like many other arenas are. Don't need to light the whole place like the surface of the sun. I'm sure that combined with the signifcant amounts of white make it worse.
I can't speak to the Club, I'm not that special...

The combination of the Gophers program on the rise and the dumpster fire that the Wild has become will start filling the arena again.
I have been a Gopher fan since the Brotens played.
Personally I stopped going to games when they joined the Big 10. I got some tickets yesterday for the UMD game and plan on getting more for later in the year.

I have no complaints about the arena, well except for Dominos, the smell of their pizzas got to my pregnant wife at the time and we had a few smell gag reflexes. Best part was watching her get so internally upset about it and making this comment which we still laugh about;
"Good Lord people, its Dominos, you can get that at home! Why cant our section just be happy with nachos or one of the many popcorn options?! You know the things that dont smell like four pounds of garlic that's been sitting under a heat lamp for hours on end!"

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
I don’t find the seats to be any less modern than other arenas I’ve visited. If anything, we find the seats to be roomier than most other venues.
What special amenities do we need in the bathroom? We have toilets, sinks - even toilet paper and running water, (and the hot water even lasts the whole game now!) Do you also need someone to wipe your ass for you?
The food options maybe could use some variety but to be honest I don’t ever buy food there so that isn’t of huge concern for me.
I think people have lost sight of the forest for the trees here. We have imho a beautiful hockey arena with a ton of history on the walls. There’s not a bad seat in the house and you can easily keep track of the game from anywhere in the arena with the open concourse which I find in few of the other arenas we’ve attended.
Fancy accoutrements that drive up the cost of the ticket price are not going to attract new fans. The atmosphere and product on the ice is what is most important. So yeah, a smaller more competitive sheet of ice should help, and imho the sound system could use a little cleaning up (enunciate enunciate, we can’t understand what you’re saying) but other than that I find Mariucci to be a great COLLEGE arena. We have booze now - isn’t that what everyone clamored for? Some people will never be happy, and I bet some of those same people go to nary a game.
If you want the bells and whistles go to the Pros. But be careful, the X is almost two decades old. It’s gotta be starting to crumble by now.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
I don't think there is any talk of replacing Williams and Mariucci in the plans at the UMN. Both facilities could use some upgrades though. LED Lighting is a priority item that should focus attention to the playing surface and away from the seats.

The other factor is that if the arena will be closed for an off-season to do the rink, then there is an opportunity to change some of the seating options.
The blues converted some of their regular seats into 'THE LEDGE' -- you could see some of the corner sections converted into this type of seating perhaps as they have a hard time selling those sets: https://www.nhl.com/blues/news/renovati ... -298863350
A premium area that overlooks the rink could be a way to integrate some sort of club section. It could be created if you are going to add seats lower in the arena, then you could take out some up top and build a standing room only area with a bar: https://www.nhl.com/flyers/news/wells-f ... -309049414
Or if you are going to dig down into the surface you could put some ice level suites in the corners: https://www.vikings.com/tickets/premium ... uites/turf
10,000 seats is a lot for a hockey rink in a town that competes with so many others, I don't think they'd be afraid to shrink the supply if these options kept their revenue the same. It's all about premium experiences and seating these days: http://www.sloansportsconference.com/content/rethinking-suite-premium-seating-strategy/

Season tickets: if you wanted to purchase those or feasibly couldMagic wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23 3:31 pmYou realize that Gophers fans had opportunities to purchase Season Tickets, Mini Packs, State Fair Releases, Gopher Score Presales, along with today’s General Public Sale. Siouxsports.com also announced to their fans that Gophers vs North Dakota tickets were going on sale today. It’s only logical North Dakota fans would buy today.
Mini Packs: again if you wanted those or would be in town for this; unsure if UND was originally included in this or not
State fair: did they release UND tickets for that? If so, wish I would've known this
Gopher Score Presale: personally don't have a gopher score as my prior student season tickets had lapsed so no points for me so wasn't eligible
I'm just trying to say, there are likely people who only wanted the one game which they were willing to pay premium for, both Gopher and UND fans alike. I do agree you are right in that UND fans will be buying them rapidly, but I would also argue so will casual Gopher fans. Particularly those around my age (late 20s, early 30s) who grew up around the MN-UND rivalry and want a chance to watch it again. I agree it is disappointing we don't have more season ticket holders. I would love to be one but cannot afford it (still in academic training at this point) and my schedule doesn't allow (taking vacation to go to these games). I guess we'll just have to see

I would love for them to remove the top row of seats (which totally block view for SRO) and turn the SRO into a bar top similar to Xcel Energy Arena.
If they serve beer, let me buy up drink rail tickets so I can pee as needed.

Excellent use of the word "nary".Cowgirl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25 9:51 amI don’t find the seats to be any less modern than other arenas I’ve visited.

I don’t know, you may not want to have to pee any more than necessary, I hear they use outhouses at Mariucci.Bertogliat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25 12:07 pmI would love for them to remove the top row of seats (which totally block view for SRO) and turn the SRO into a bar top similar to Xcel Energy Arena.

I don’t see adding more suites or premium type ticket areas as a benefit. We can’t even fill the cheap seats, much less the suites we have.
A drink rail/SRO if reasonably priced may appeal to more folks. I do hope the alcohol sales create a more rowdy atmosphere however!

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule
The problem isn’t the food, the lights, the toilets, or the arena.
The problem is they left a conference with great established rivalries to join the Big Ten.
I could really give a rip when Penn State or Ohio State come to town. I want to see the UMD and North Dakota series.

I sure the place will sell out when Illinois goes D-1. I know I can hardly wait. At least two more awesome conference games.

Ok,the TV coverage is lousy and they blast the music way to much.
Hopefully Bob can bring back the “pride on ice” and fill the seats against with a team that gives a $hit.
Ok. I’m done now.

If you think the conference slate is anywhere near as interesting overall you're on Mars.Laxref wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25 8:36 pmJust like the people were beating the doors in to watch Alaska-Anchorage and Michigan Tech. Not even sure what a WCHA bobo is. I am just trying to explain why the seats are empty.
