I don't watch the games but it feels like Okogie should be in the rotation. When he's played it sounds like he's shown he can play

Who is coaching the current team?

Who's stubbornness didnt pull the trigger on the first crappy trade offer? We know Taylor would have taken anything.

One thing the Wolves did do well during the whole debacle is not act like a bunch of jack bags while Buckets and media were acting like donkeys.

Lots of cred to T-Bone. Lots and Lots.

Loved him, hated him, now back to love.

He reminds me of a young Butler with a better outside shot, TBH. Aggressive defensively, athletic enough to get to the hoop, pretty strong getting to the basket. But he can shoot 3s, which Butler hasn't been able to do to this point (though I believe his 3pt numbers so far this year have improved by 4-5% or so based on his career average).

So how do they not find time for him to develop? Seems like getting him on the floor with Covington, Wiggins, KAT, and Teague/Rose would be doable.

Because the coach doesn't like young players.

Well that and even letting Lavine go for Butler was a total legit trade.

This touches on it a bit, Van Gundy makes some great points.

The Wolves were down 17 to Houston with the help of a deep 3 at half as the horn sounded. The Wolves out scored the Rockets and ended up winning by 12, 103-91. The Wolves are only 5 games out of the #1 seed in west... lol!!!

Absolutely dominant second half from the Wolves. Fun to watch. Wiggins with a great game. RoCo and KAT too.

From roughly the 7 minute mark in the 3rd quarter to the 7 minute mark in the 4th quarter the Wolves went on like a 35-9 run.

Another phenomenal game from KAT and Wiggins, Wolves win 121-104. Teague was 1/6 shooting for 3 points but racked up 18 assists.

This team is a lot more fun to watch without Butler this season.

Well technically Layden holds the GM title. Maybe Coach & Executive of the year.

Poor guy has been preaching D since he got here because he knows there is no way you can compete giving up 110 a night. Stays patient through this whole debacle and ends up getting an all world defender in Covington. Not to shaby.

This would be the 3rd team where Butler has had some chemistry issues. Thing is when Jimmy gets on a team, it's HIS team. He wants the ball in his hands all the time and expects teammates to clear out and just be space eaters. During the first 3 qrts he will pass, but in the 4th he's going to take it every time.

When you have young players trying to establish themselves in the league, Butler can really halt that growth. Never questioned his talent and work ethic. But I do question his ability to be a teammate and a leader.

Wolves come back from 16 down and then piss it away with terrible play from multiple players to lose in OT.

How does Wiggins ever go 5-12 on free throws? Wolves shoot around 50% as a team on free throws, bad plays by Daric, missed dunk by RoCo, DRose hurt, not good

Color me shocked. NOT. I hope that whole team goes down in flames. Can’t stand Embiid and still wondering how Simmons, a guy who can’t make a jump shot to save his life, is considered one of the best players in the NBA?

Now Brett Brown.

Butler is really making a name for himself as a great teammate

Color me shocked. NOT. I hope that whole team goes down in flames. Can’t stand Embiid and still wondering how Simmons, a guy who can’t make a jump shot to save his life, is considered one of the best players in the NBA?
Instagram. Seriously. I feel like the games are secondary to someone’s social media in the NBA.

They beat the Lakers (granted, without LeBron) by 22 this afternoon. Maybe they thought that wasn't enough of a spread?

The fact that he had KAT out on the court with a 20+ pt lead after be got undercut on a dunk and was really slow to get up was a fire let offense in and of itself.

I won't miss him.

Knee jerk to what? The Butler fiasco was 2-3 months ago. He could have (should have) been fired right then and there. They gave him some rope after the Butler trade and things weren't working.

On a winning streak, and then oh hey, you're fired. Following on the internet, LOTS of people are saying the same thing....the timing is very odd.....

I guess Glen finally got sick of listening to Thibs nonstop bellowing during games. Given Glen sits right by the bench I’m sure he went home with a headache after every home game.

They started turning it around after the cancer that is Jimmy Buckets was traded. Not great, but not what they were. Then BOOM fired. This was a shock, even to the people who are more into the NBA than I am (which is a LOT).

The team is mediocre keeping him want going to change that.

There is something about Minnesota sports - we just love us some legacy. If the guy wins - I am fine with it but it does seem we chase bloodlines more than most places.

While I don’t give 2 shits about the twolves...Thibs brought in Jimmy & Jimmy F-cked him, and that was the end for Thibs before the season ever started. Glen is no genius when it comes to running a pro sports team, but Thibs bad decision making, turd floating in a punch bowl persona and poor management skills resulted in Thibs screwing himself royally ...and he should have been fired back in October ☝️

This just means 3 of 4 pro men’s sports in MN are likely looking for new coaches in one season’s time. Twins and Wolves for sure. Wild on the cusp...

It’s one thing MN sports are good for. Coach rotations.

The Twins just hired a new manager. I don't think Baldelli will get fired already 😉

They were 5-9 before the Butler trade. They are 19-21 now. So while it was a decent turnaround it's not like they were unbeatable. 2 games over .500 since the trade with a team that has a lot of talent.

Add in the fact that the team is 1-12, one and freaking 12, on the road against Western conference teams... Including a loss to a team that was actively trying to lose and was such a disaster that they almost completed a trade without knowing who they were getting (before calling it off at the last second when they realized it was a different player that they wanted)? 5-15 overall on the road. If they were even halfway decent on the road they'd be in playoff position right now.

Was the timing maybe mildly strange coming off a win today? Sure. But it was a long time coming. He could easily have been fired 2-3 weeks ago when they had a 6 game losing streak. But maybe they wanted the players feeling better about themselves and having some things going in the right direction so Saunders, who has never been a head coach, stepped in to take the helm of a sinking ship?

At any rate, I doubt there were too many guys in the locker room that were heartbroken to hear the news. I'm sure some will come out and say they feel for Thibs or whatever, like they always do. But it's probably going to be more schtick than honesty.

It's an interim hire. Saunders was already on the staff and has been for years. It's not like they said Thibs you're gone, Ryan here's a 5 year contract.

That said, he's been working at the NBA level for years and worked under his dad (a great NBA coach) and Thibs (where hopefully he learned what not to do). It's not like he's some greenhorn who got the job because of his name. He was obviously a good enough coach that Thibs kept him around when he cleaned house everywhere else in the organization.

Ryan was on Flip's staff to be the heir apparent...if Flip hadnt died Ryan would be getting the job anyways probably in the next year or two.

The truth is this isnt even that big a shock. NBA coaches are fired midseason every year even without having their favorite player torpedoing the season and forcing a trade. Thibs was the President and Coach...this mediocre team is on him and the truth is he lost the lockerroom when he backed Butler who didnt even want to be here.

Right, but has no head coaching experience unlike Pitino. Saunders has followed his dad around as an assistant. He is just the interim and I doubt he is the full time coach.

Considering Thibs was going to be gone one way or the other after the season, I am not sure I see it as knee jerk at all. Sounds like the media sources are saying it has been in the plan for a while.

I guess it depends on whether they see this as a way to get a candidate they really want with less competition for him after the season when there are likely going to be other job openings to compete with.
