The ones in the recruits page seem like options depending on how they do this year and if they'd be ready next year.

Stampohar, Lagerstrom, Harte, Olsen

Peter Tabor would be another one I would keep an eye on. Playing in Waterloo this season and was very good for Holy Family last year. Edina kid... and we have loved that pipeline recently.

Lagerstrom at Shattuck Prep has shown steady improvement, should be their best defenceman this year good size at 6-2 moves well and has some offensive abilities. Probably needs a year of juniors.

K’andre Miller would have been a nice fit.

Wonder if we are in on Ryan Johnson.

According to BP on the high school forum, Chaz (the older one) is repeating 8th grade at Gentry Academy.

The Scwanns Super Rink is PACKED tonight. NAHL tournament where all 23 teams play 4 games in 4 days. I have never seen the parking lot full with 10 coach buses in the Expo lot. License plates from every state in this lot. Big tourney when you have people driving from Alabama.

I was told by en employee their goal is to build a HS tourney team. They were given some sort of waiver to compete with the high school league, but they will eventually compete against the Shattucks of the world.

I too wondered if this was intentional to give him an extra season of seasoning. But it could be he needs and extra year and considering he's still a young kid, we should not go overboard on the response.

I thought I had read that they were already in the same grade before today. Either way, the younger one has been playing up based on birth year.

Hockey would be NO reason to repeat a grade.

Then you clearly believe, in their eyes, hockey is a reason to repeat a grade.

Personally, I don't believe for a second that any parent would hold their child back academically in order to make a state tournament run, regardless of whether or not they built a school for hockey to help further their athletic development.

And I certainly don't have enough evidence to support that fact to start throwing that around the Internet.

I cannot believe how jaded some people are. We all do realize that this is a young, 14-year old kid we are talking about right? And that the fact that he may need to be held back a grade (can we even substantiate that?) may not be something we should be making light of, regardless of what we think of his recruitment situation, his parents, etc...

I said hockey is no reason to repeat a grade because I'm hoping other people wouldn't follow suit.

Yet you suggested they may have held him back to make a tourney run, on two message boards. I just don't understand how you can be so callous about this (if its even true).

Nothing against the kids. We don't even know what grade they're in or supposed to be in for sure. Hoping crazy hockey parents don't have an impact on their careers, and it seems like these might be some of the craziest hockey parents in the state.

They have the means. I'm pretty confident Minnesota has plenty of parents "crazy" enough to do likewise with the means.

Minnesota Hockey has had to ban parents from rinks by court injunction in the past. I would say those parents are a tad more "crazy".

I know they (the parents) likely bring a lot of this attention on themselves, and I am not faulting you for having opinions on how they have chosen to handle their kid's athletic development, but there has to be a line in my opinion.

Ridiculing or making light of, in any sense or form, the fact that a 14 year old may have to repeat a grade doesn't seem right to me. I think it was a classless move to even have it posted on a message board (if even true) in the first place.

Who knows what the contributing factors might be, and how a 14 year old kid might handle that. What if he has a learning disability, etc? I don't think it's right.

People tend to get on parents for pushing their kids faster and harder... accelerating their schooling, pushing kids to play at higher levels, having them leave home at young ages to go play 100s of miles away, etc. (whether a kid is ready or not)... and now it is the opposite and people are going to be negative because parents might decide to hold their kid back a bit longer?

I think generally when people accuse parents of being crazy, it's often when they make life decisions that are driven by sports that don't seem to pass the reasonableness test. That could apply both to pushing your kids ahead and that could also apply to holding them back. So yes.

Keep in mind this is a website for people that really like sports.......particularly hockey. I'm guessing the reasonableness bar on sports related decisions is a lot easier to clear here than it would be with the general public.

I think, based on the history of the parents, that people are skeptical that the parents are holding the kid back in school for educational reasons.

If they are holding him back educationally to give him another year for sports reasons, that would be way over the top.

While I don't agree with everything parents do, they are the parents. If they decide to hold a kid back, and in this case the rumors appear to be untrue, that is their decision. I might think it is stupid, but that is just my opinion.

From experience in coaching at traveling Bantam level, hockey parents are a unique breed usually devoid of realism. But, then hockey season starts.

Saw on Twitter Cole Caufield de-committed fro Ohio State. Wisconsin has to be favorite to get him, even with the 31 kids they have lined up. Be nice if we could sneak him away!

The 3rd kid (according to my source) is holding off on his decision for 10 days or so.

I was hoping the Gophers would land Owen Gallatin...he's a heckuva player!

Love Gallatin's game. Doggies landed a good one. Get me Biondi!

Jared Moe looks to be starting his junior career off on the right note.
He has to be on top of the list of potential goalie recruits.

I would imagine it was either/both of Miller and Tussey, considering all 4 guys played on the same Blades team.

From the new free archive from USHR from July on Ryan Johnson.

"We are told he has his college choices narrowed down to Denver, Wisconsin, and Minnesota."

Last year's five bantam of the year finalists are all committed:
Braccini (10th, U)
Gallatin (9th, UMD)
Kunz (9th, UND)
Michaelis (10th, UNO)
Tussey (9th, U)

All previous Bantam of the Year winners have committed. Two of five PeeWee of the Year have committed, with a couple likely to commit this year.

Youth Hockey Hub has found a nice little niche with having a Pee Wee of the Year and a Bantam of the Year.

Pee Wee of the Year
Wiz Wyatt Finalists

I think Tony Scott picks this one, and is for multi-sport athletes and leaders.

Bantam of the Year
Bantam Finalists

Voted on by 10 Bantam AA Coaches and the list of finalists is usually a pretty good indicator of some players to watch. Most of these guys will be the early commits.

Carter Randklev of Moorhead decommitted from ASU. He’s a small but very skilled forward. My guess he will end up at UND or SCSU.

Shattuck's top scorer is a 6'4" or 6'5" 11th grader Ryan Drkulec. Texan that is uncommitted.

6'2" senior defenseman Lagerstrom from Edina has more points than Norman and Bohlsen and is uncommitted.

Overall, the team seems down this year. The U16 and bantam teams are not good, either. The best player on the bantams just committed to BC, but I don't see any other commitments from those two teams. Program seems to be missing Tom Ward.

I wonder if all schools listed are wanting Randklev to play USHL next year. I hope we land him, but think USHL next year if needed for him.

Anyone have any idea what's going on with Sam Huff? Hasn't played a game in a long time.

I watched him yesterday and that was my feeling as well. He didn’t look ready to play college next year, but I have only seen him play once this year so he could have had an off day. One thing I will say is the comparisons to Cammy are way off, he’s not afraid muck it up in the corners.

Talked to a MG source & Sam is recovering from a concussion sustained during an earlier USHL game.

Great to hear the Gopher staff is after Randklev! Hopefully they get him.

It's important to maintain a recruiting presence in the NW part of the state right now to avoid it becoming NCHC country, both recruiting wise and fan wise. Who knows where the future difference makers will come from. Having Huglen will help the Gophers maintain a presence. Having both he and Randklev would help even more. Great to see. I'll get off my soapbox now.
