Hopefully the Reedy injury is not too severe, and he is back this weekend. When he is out, and moving up Nelson to the 3rd line, it leaves a huge hole on the 4th line. I don't expect the 4th line to be like team Canada's 4th line, but I would like some production out of them. The other question is with Staudacher. Was he benched or hurt? I do expect a Moe game on Saturday.

Dumb question here, but are all games on BTN+ regardless if they are on TV or not? My thoughts are with my current streaming situation and not wanting to keep Hulu if possible, but if I can get it on BTN+, I can cast the game to my TV.

I live in Colorado and over the last couple of years if they were not on the regular BTN I have been able to get every game with the exception of when they were at Notre Dame on BTN+. Sometimes you have to listen to other teams announcers, but you still get to see the game.

LaPanta said he will call Fridays game. So they will need someone for Saturday. Next week LaPanta said he will call Thursdays game. He said he wants to continue to to do Gopher games when he can as long as he doesn't need to travel and it doesn't interfere with the Wild games. They are calling all Wild games from Minnesota to start the season. Things could change, but that is what he said on the Russo-LaPanta podcast.

Thank. They could have Charlie Beattie work games LaPanta can't do.

Charlie Beattie will be working any game when LaPanta is on Wild duties.

Okay good. I was a little concerned that FSN would bring in some cheap guy we've never heard of. Over the years other networks gave us some doozies who make LaPanta sound like Orson Welles, so I'm glad FSN sees value in bringing back a familiar, well-liked voice.

Not on the topic of which provider/announcer....

I’m already looking forward to the series. Traditionally the leprechauns are tough competition and I anticipate another couple of hard fought battles this weekend. Of course I’d also love to think that the guys are a little upset about how a few things went last weekend and a good week of practice and home ice could make for some big numbers on our end.....or something like that.

Sadly I scheduled a tattoo appointment Saturday late afternoon (scheduled long before we had any idea of the 2021 hockey schedule as it’s hard to get in)...I’ve debated watching on my phone but at the risk of ending up with something like Steve-O in the “off road tattoo” (I don’t watch hockey calmly), I think it would be safer for all if I wait for tape delay afterwards.
So no spoilers!

Go Gophers!

Sounds familiar when for some odd reason I cannot watch the game live. I'll go way out of the way so as NOT to hear ANYTHING about the game WHATSOEVER! Knowing the score and who won just kills the excitement for me.

I'm a FUBO subscriber for coverage of games on BTN/ESPNU/NBC Sports. Can't buy FSN via FUBO so I've subscribed to BTN+ for the games covered by FSN. $30 bucks for the season (Dec/Jan/Feb) is a bargain to see all the games.

All BTN+ games have been available live.

I live in Michigan and it is pretty straightforward with BTN plus. I pay for one school during the hockey season and then suspend it. The main hassle I have is that, even if I "record" the game, if I turn the game on after it starts it tunes in to that part of game (can't set to watch from beginning) and I can't pause it. It is like "pre-dvr" tv. However, if I wait for game to be over, it acts like a dvr recording.

The fact that you can record a streamed game at all is incredible. That’s a win. Hopefully they soon figure out how to let you watch the recorded portion of the game before its finished recording.

Oh, yes, I am not complaining. It has been a good deal. I was just letting others know. Before I learned this, I would turn a game on anti would be halfway through second period and there would be a score -- which as someone else said in a post -- takes some of the fun out it -- especially if Good Guys up 2-0!

Same here. If I can’t watch live I want to know nothing so I can pretend it’s live when I do watch. I have to use my personal cell at work because we do all our client communication by phone and can’t tie up the main lines. I’ve had to switch phones with my boss when the extra cell isn’t available so I don’t accidentally see alerts (and hope my friends don’t text anything stupid during that time.)😂
Thankfully none of my coworkers are fans so I just have to avoid my phone and the radio til I get home.

I wish we played teams the week after they played ASU more often.

If I was a betting man there will be a Badger or two sitting out after this weekend’s games. Sounds like the BADgers have a score to settle.

Does Hulu currently have FSN? I recently needed to switch from YouTube TV since they dropped it and could only find AT&T TV that had it still.

No, they don't. However, this weekend's games are also being broadcast on Fox College Sports. If you download the Fox Sports Go app to your Roku/Firestick/AppleTV/etc., and sign in with your Hulu/YouTubeTV/etc. credentials, you should be able to stream the games. Last weekend was the first time I tried it, and I was able to watch both of the games against Becky.

The next 4 games will be the last homestand of the season since after that weekends alternate between home and away. Let's regain as much momentum as we can before our next road trip.

As I suspected, Staudacher is not in the lineup after missing part of the last game. Also, no Reedy yet.

Rewatched the game looking for this and I saw him take maybe his last shift ~ 15 min left in the second, didn't notice anything happen on the ice.

This unfortunately doesn't work for me with youtubetv. Anyone else have a link to a stream?

If anyone needs this information, the game is on FSN's main channel (in addition to FSN+) because COVID has postponed the Wolves game.

Didn’t work for me either. I can sign in but no Gopher Hockey or Basketball games come up to watch, I’m assuming because no FSN games come up. I added the sports package which has Fox College Sports showing it and they have a free 1 week trial. You can flip that on in the YouTubeTV app and then dump it before the week trial is up.

Notre Dame dictated play especially in 3rd / more physical

Out chanced Grade A scoring 2 to 1

Selfish play

Too many turn overs in neutral zone

McManus sloppy pass in our end turned the puck over and they scored the go ahead. They looked slow in the third. Sloppy with the puck.

Notre Dame came to play tonight. They were better in the 3rd period & won, it happens, I expect the Gophers to bounce back tomorrow and get the split in another close game. Rankings notwithstanding, this is clearly the best Gopher team since 13-14 because along with being abundantly talented, especially on the blue line, this team is more relentless than teams from the past handful of years.

Gophers lost the puck at the offensive blue line a couple hundred times tonight, playing right into ND's game plan. I'm guessing that Motzko told them what to do, and they just didn't get it done.

Reedy was indeed missed tonight, as was Staudacher. The young defensemen got pushed around.

Too many bad games tonight. Nelson didn't bring the physical game. Munson seems to have disappeared, as has Burke. Walker line pretty much neutralized all night. Lots of motion out of Nevers but few results. Brodzinski fails to cover on the defensive face off for one of ND's goal and then late in the game they rang one off the post in the same way. That's just being mentally checked out.

When the Gophers did manage to get the puck into the offensive zone, they couldn't control it for long. I was frustrating game all night, because ND was taking to the Gophers and they rarely turned the tables.

If the Gophers found a way to pull that out, they would have stolen it. Congrats to ND. They came in with a plan and came out with a win.

These kinds of mistakes just baffle me. Everyone watching the game knows that it's going to be really difficult to carry the puck across the blue line and generate a scoring chance against Notre Dame. Even if you do get the puck past one guy, there are going to be another three waiting for you to cut to the middle.

And faceoff intensity and knee bend... these were buzzwords coming from Lucia and Guentzel quite a bit their last couple years.

Maybe the loss of Staudacher and Reedy had an impact on the mindset--LaCombe said he missed 55 at least in the post-game.

It appears both the men's and women's teams are a bit overrated...probably not a terrible thing for both to get knocked down a peg or two and build it back up.

I was wondering if this might happen. This is not to sound doom and gloom. This team is really good and I think we'll be just fine. But I did wonder if after a stellar first 8 games in 2020 the rest of the conference might start to catch on, at least a little bit, to what the gophers are doing and even slowly catch up. This is a good conference and there was no way we were going to go undefeated (not that anyone thought we would). This game was a tough one but unlike gopher teams of the past few years I have full confidence in the team's ability to bounce back and get a win tomorrow. We were bound to drop a couple of games and there are probably going to be a couple more down the road. Better to get humbled a little bit and drop a couple now than have it happen in March or April.

The play from our 4th line has definitely declined over the past couple of weekends. Burke just seems to continuously lose possession of the puck with the play always breaking down when he gets it. Just not really sure what he brings to the team at this point.

Thought Meyers had a very quiet night tonight as well. Loved how patient LaCombe was on his goal, we need more scoring out of him.

I know it is still very early and obviously a big jump up from USHL but I'm pretty underwhelmed by Nevers after a dozen games. I remember not being all that impressed watching him play for Edina and he hasn't really done anything so far to change that opinion.

It looked like our guys spent the afternoon shoveling their way through Dinkytown without realizing beforehand how soaking wet the snow was and came into the game having already spent a couple of periods of effort.

Tough to see another long streak come to an end, but as I said last weekend, it's only game #13 of 28.

When playing Notre Dame you have to be patient. They will lull you to sleep with their zone entry defense. They don't make a ton of mistakes, and wait for the opportunity to score. If a couple of plays were different last night, the Gophers could have won. The late icing call and not winning the face-off cost them 1 goal. On the PP goal, they almost cleared the puck and it stayed on the blue line by a hair. Those 2 sequences and it could have been a different game. That being said, they still lost and did not look sharp. I trust they will play better tonight.
