Curious for the pulse of the fanbase on here...do you expect next season to be drastically different? Do you expect an NCAA appearance?

I hate to have my first ever post be so negative but after what I watched last night I personally don't think we make it past this weekend. I really hope I'm proven wrong. They just looked flat last night. I thought the defense overall held up it's end but the offense has all but disappeared. You can see as they get frustrated they pretty quickly fall back into their habits from the fall. Also, hate to dwell on what could have been but you wonder what this team could have looked like if pitlick, mittelstadt, lindgren and robson had all stuck around

A change of coaching staff takes time. Motzko has not finished his second season and the mob is out for his head.

I have had season tickets for many years and last nights attendance had to be the worst I have seen. I commend the fans out there with there supporting the guys. The last couple weekends have not produced the results we all hope. Love everyones enthusiasm.

Be patient with the process and Go Gophers!

Every time we play Notre Dame the game is tight. I want to see a much higher compete level. When tickets are $20 and less than a 1500 people show up its the product NOT the customer. With that said, win tonight and anything can happen in one game single elimination hockey

I don’t think it’s all lack of talent - we’ve seen what these guys can do together. I think a lot of this is in their head.
This group can play better than it did last night but compared to previous successful gopher teams they definitely lack the top end NHL level talent and it shows, especially on the power play.

That said it’d be nice to see this team continue to beat expectations like they were for much of the second half of the year.

How are we going to be better next year? Honest question. I don't follow Gopher hockey that closely. Who do we graduate (that's part of the current problem) and who will be new next year (that will help fix this problem)?
Losing some senior defensemen and gaining Koster (if he plays anything like the freshmen D) should help, though I try not to put too high of expectations on freshmen D. Faber comes in too. I think you’ll have a better blue line group for sure.

As for the Motzko criticism it’s mostly fair and I get it, there are certain things he keeps doing to shoot himself in the foot like having a guy QB the PP who handles the puck like a hand grenade for one. But also half the guys on this team aren’t even his and for sake of (imperfect) comparison it wasn’t until year 3 for PJ that we finally saw a formidable team. That’s not to say the team shouldn’t have played better than the crap effort last night but it’s hard to have a consistently good effort when there’s so many holes in the roster and a lack of a game changer anywhere in the roster (Meyers is about the closest thing we have right now).

Can the U do anything to get more people at the games? Maybe free tickets for kids or something?

I was there last night. It was a ghost town. On the plus side, I was able to sit anywhere I wanted. Unfortunately, it didn't matter where I sat, the game was still hard to watch.

I'll be back tonight. Here's hoping for a turnaround. Go Gophers!

There is a chance they win tonight, and there's less of a chance they win two nights in a row.

Everybody says a team better be playing their best hockey come March. In their last 5 games, they have eked out two ties. It's walkin' like a duck folks.

I am not sure I would say ND played the best defensive game ever. We put up zero offensive pressure.

This team totally could have swept ND and still could. However, they needed to have an upset in the other series to avoid playing next at PSU. I just don't see this team beating PSU this year.

I guess I could see us getting past this weekend if we turn it around. But they now need to win the B1G to see the NCAA. The team that showed up last night didn't have the fight in them to do that.

I will be there tonight and hopefully tomorrow. Last night just lowered my expectations.

To be fair, at least we made a decent run at an NCAA appearance and showed signs of life in the second half. Next year is pivotal in my opinion.

Does anyone have extra tickets for tonight's game? I'm going to bring two extra kids and don't really want to pay $20 per to the U based on the product I saw last night. PM me if you have tickets you want to sell.

The fact that I am unwilling to pay $20 to watch my favorite team at a stadium I can walk to in 20 mins speaks volumes about the overall quality of the product at the moment. I feel somewhat bad for the players and this type of stuff can’t possibly be helping recruitment efforts but it’s not exactly unjustified either.

I would guess that jerseys all saying Wooger could not be worn in NCAA play. But we should be able to for the remainder of the big ten I imagine.

After a decent start last night's team returned to the bench. How Notre Dame has not scored is baffling. They seem to think they are playing no check hockey.

The Gophers look an awful lot like my Peewee team did this weekend as we ended our season 1 day early.

Horrible clearing attempts, looks like they are skating in mud, no heart or urgency in anything they are doing. Wow.

I think this is just the type of hockey we are going to get from these generations of kids. Until parents stop handing EVERYTHING to their kids and clearing a path to success in everything they do, kids won’t know what it is like to work their asses off for something.

5 on 5 is being played by the Gophers like a penalty kill. They literally clear the puck and change lines.

Something has the change or there no way we win this game.

That was a decent shift finally by Walker line. Need Meyers to step up, though his line mates haven’t been super helpful in that regard.

Maybe, but you can only take so much of the inconsistency with any of these teams. Not just Gophers or my kids PW team either.

I believe he's Mike Strobel's (HM and U-wi) son and Mark's nephew. No relation to the Gopher.

I am planning on it. We have two HS tickets so for us it's not feasible to buy BT tickets if they are on the same weekend.

Handed ND their first B1G tournament loss. They’re now 7-1. That’s a big deal for this young team. Hope they can build off it.

Glad I synched to the Radio. On the last penalty, Pat was saying that's a 5, no doubt. The others agreed. After they reviewed it and left it a 2 minutes, Pat starts yelling Thank you, Thank you! It seemed like he was leaning over the press box yelling down to the refs.

I have never been happier about playing game 3 as we played much better tonight, but there's still a ton of work to do. Still far too much time on the perimeter while on offense, especially when we spent most of the game on defense. Keep this upward trend going because the winner of tomorrow's game is now guaranteed to be on the road for the rest of the season.
