Now, let's just hope that the team plays like they did in South Bend a couple weeks ago, rather than how they did Saturday.

The Irish will be a good challenge...they are the type of team ya gotta beat to make any hay in the NCAA tourney☝️

So's Penn State, and you see how well the Gophers have done against them the past few years.

Gophers are 1-1-2 this year vs the Irish.
Gophers are 14-13-7 overall and 9-8-7-4 in B1G 10
Notre Dame is 14-13-7 overall and 9-9-6-4 in B1G 10
Gophers average 2.79 goals per game, 2.76 GAA, PP is 15.6 and PK is 82.8
Notre Dame averages 2.65 goals per game, 2.68 GAA, PP is 17.89 and PK is 78.57

Pretty even on paper.
Moe played both games at Mariucci, and was 0-1-1
LaFontaine played both at South Bend and was 1-0-1

Let us not forget this.

Looks like FS2 is on 740 on Xfinity. Yay. I have a dinner to attend Friday so I can DVR the game.

The channel number may vary depending on what part of the Twin Cities you're located. My guide is showing two separate FS2's, one on 740 and the other on 691. But so far, no Gopher hockey is showing up.

Not for nothing, but I offered FREE tickets to the Friday game and over the course of many hours had exactly ONE taker. Don't ever say anything on this board again about ticket prices...

You offered where? If GopherHockey tweeted your free tickets they'd be gone in a minute.

Looks like you offered them on here in the section that most people never scroll down to on the portal. Also need to realize message boards are not exactly a hopping place anymore...

I completely understand why you have a ticket area, but for those of us who don't go through the portal (I just don't like the format, personal preference) the ticket area is off the bottom of my screen unless I scroll down. Wouldn't matter for me personally, as I already have tickets, but, there are probably others that never saw the post. And, even on the portal, you have to scroll down past all the things that have already been read before you even see it. Might be worth not separating it out.

Don't pay attention to the BS Joe... You did exactly what we want users selling ticket to do. If people don't like it, that is their problem.

I interpreted the last sentence of his original post, "Don't ever say anything on this board again about ticket prices..." as a shot at those saying ticket prices are still a big factor in declining attendance. There have been some that have said things along the lines of "Even if tickets were free they may not fill the arena".

I don't think there is anyone that "doesn't like it" lol. As someone that will be at the games I just want someone to be in those seats. So if only one person took up the offer, there you go they'll be used.

Spectrum has FS2 on 408/812 and also has soccer listed.
Crummy part is my dvr records by title vs time so it has to list the correct program to keep the timer. Hopefully it changes before Friday.

Obviously that Bundesliga game wouldn't even be live... They should be able to get it out of there.

That's prob why they'd keep it. Less production cost to air the game.

I'm pretty much a dummy when it comes to computers, cell phones and online forums, but I had no problem scrolling down a little, seeing your post and snapping up your generous free ticket offer. It was a fairly easy process, and somehow I even managed to download them onto my phone, using what Apple calls a "Wallet." I showed my wife, and she was very proud of me! In return, she even showed me how to text a picture of our newborn granddaughter to an old friend. I'm on a roll, and hope to bring some of my good luck to the Gophers on Friday night!

And thanks once again to JoeGopher! :good2:

Can people calm down? No one criticized him for posting the availability of tickets where he did nor the site for where it appears. But it can be true that putting it there may not generate a ton of eyeballs.

I imagine if you put in on FB or Twitter it would get more hits if you're comfortable with that.

It was the Outrage 500, and it was a nail biter. :) In one car you had the guy who felt unappreciated that nobody seized upon his free ticket offer. In the other car was a guy provoked at the mere suggestion of a website tweak. (In the third car - the Love Bug - is the driver who's gonna get pulled out of his car and beat up by the other two at the end of the race for driving like an idiot.)

It certainly doesn’t help that the MN State HS hockey tourney is this weekend at Xcel. Even a certain team 150 miles to the north that hosts SCSU won’t draw well this weekend (either) 🏒☝️

The last comparable is 11-12, when Alaska in the first round drew 9K+ during the tournament.

You HAVE to include the tickets in the season ticket package. Making it easy isn't enough because asking for essentially another transaction (and more money) is clearly too much for the average, lazy customer.

Of course someone will say then you have to raise the total price. Well, then I guess your total price is still a little too high.

Not even sure if I should keep this going, but just throwing out there that a simple post in the game thread saying "tickets listed for this weekend in the ticket thread" may generate some more interest. Not saying it is on you to advertise, but also if people don't know they are there they will not respond. For me personally, I often forget there is a ticket thread so the reminder would be helpful.

I agree playoff tickets should be included in season ticket price. Years of non NCAA teams and pricing that didnt match demand drove over 40% of the former fans away. I do expect Coach Motzko to turn Minnesota into a top ten program again and with another price drop we get to much better attendance numbers. 3,000-4,000 this weekend is expected after Michigan let down

So before last week people were jumping up and down about the cheap prices for the playoff tickets. This week people are complaining that they were not included in the season tickets. :brickwall: When I renewed my season tickets last year, I added the option to add the playoff tickets to my tickets. Seemed easy enough for me.
On the bright side, last year the Gophers beat Michigan in front of family and a few close personal friends. I hope that senerio happens again this year. Go Gophers

We're not complaining. I'll be at the games. As a business the customer is all that matters, and look at the ticket sales for this weekend. The customer has spoken.

Good for you that you added the seats. But clearly barely anyone else did.

They weren't "Included" in the season tickets, but you had the option to pre-order them if you wanted (which I did). In the past (WCHA days), I know people complained that they were "forced" to buy playoff tickets (not many, but there were some), but after last season, they needed to do something to make it easier for season ticket holders, and this seems like the best way to go.

It's 9.50 for a poured beer up there now, and fewer options so a lot of people just go grab a tallboy (or two) on the main level.

Email from GopherSports this morning:

"Single game tickets are now on sale and start at just $15 (!!!) for season ticket holders. Take advantage of this incredible season ticket holder discount and lock in your tickets NOW!"

Buy the cheap $15 tickets and you'll be able to sit pretty much wherever you want!

Are you a season ticket holder?

Because the email I GOT this morning it was starting at $20. But I am not a STH, I have only bought tickets in the past.

I pre-purchased my big ten playoff ticket package which I was just told was for all five potential games. I sit in Zone 4, which according to the above pricing structure is $125 for the full package, I spent $95.
I had the option to purchase additional seats at the STH price for $15 apiece.

So it seems they did give the STH a discount, which is nice. And they will be refunding any unused.

There was no option to purchase the playoff package for next season when I renewed.

I may have overestimated the attendance numbers for this weekend. As of Tuesday less than 1,000 have been sold. I figured the HS State Tourney and the Pairwise drop would hurt attendance, but this may rival Michigan playoffs last year? The U ticket office is in a bind. Maybe make the whole arena $15 or start 2 for 1 deals

It could be similar.

But remember that tickets did not go on sale for the general public until this morning. I believe they gave the season ticket holders first choice.

I am terrified at how empty Mariucci could be this weekend, especially with the state tournament going on. Thoughts?

It’s going to be empty.

I won’t be able to get that puck drop photo like I did last year on Friday night since I will be at Acme. But I will get one on Saturday.

They should already be giving STH that bought tickets free extra tickets. Not that I'd find anyone to go over the state tournament, but someone might.

I suppose as long as the current big ten playoff format remains the same, this will be an annual struggle as the playoffs tend to fall on the same weekends each year.

I’d be in favor of making this weekend part of the regular season. Next weekend is best of three first round. Following weekend is semis and championship all at highest seed. This tourney drawn out over three weekends is dumb.

But then if the high seed loses the final will be empty.

Ideally you'd have a conference of teams from the same region and host them at, say an NHL arena, that is fairly central to all of them.

The last big ten tourney at Joe Louis was even more poorly attended than this weekend at Mariucci will be. The years it was at the X weren’t any better.

We aren’t going back in time either. 🙄

The Big Ten doesn't have regionally close teams, which has been the main reason for failure so far. ;)

Can't fault Fridays effort. Just could not get the 3rd goal. Saturday was not a good effort. If they would have scored 1 goal more each night, the story would have been different. It was not the disaster of a weekend like the ones versus Penn St or the Whioux at home this fall. Too many people are quick to give up on this team. I really think tBob is rebuilding this program in the right direction.

The U should give all GPL posters free access to private jets (to get to the games) along with free tickets and beers. Don't they care about the fans? :D

Sorry, I'm not much help on the attendance side of things, live in Florida I'm lucky if I get to a series every few years. Now when I grew up there and went to school there I went to a ton of games...no help now
The U should give all GPL posters free access to private jets (to get to the games) along with free tickets and beers. Don't they care about the fans? :D
Should be more private jets freeing up as democratic candidates drop out of the race.

Does the Fox Sports Go app carry FS2?
I have comcast but don't have the glitzy package to carry FS2 currently.

Somebody sang Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves on The Voice this week.

That's a sign.

Gophers sweep. Cumulative score 192-1.
