For the first time since I have been shooting at Mariucci. (15 seasons) Only 1 U photographer will be allowed on the ice for Senior night. No one else. Not even Jim Rosevold will be out there. Not a happy camper!

They did own the period. Defense needs to be more aggressive when Mich has the puck. They are letting them do what they want.

You can’t pee a goal if they aren’t playing. It only counts if you’re in or on your way to the bathroom when it happens. You should know this.

SOG from the 2nd must have been misleading. At least per the radio it sounds like they've been playing much better the past several minutes.

OSU up 1-0 ugh. [edit] looks like the goal was reviewed and reversed.

0-3-2-0 in their last 5. Led in the 3rd in 2-3 of those. What a wasted end of the season.

Inconsistency is the name of this season. Maybe they can go on a run in the B1G tourney which they’ve utterly sucked in.

No team has won a national championship in this century after missing the NCAA 2+ seasons in a row before the winning season. Experience winning and playing in big games matters.

Gophers have to get their $h!t together and make a run starting next weekend.

We’ll be home next weekend. So try to be happy for that! Hoping we don’t see an attendance repeat ala last year during the state hs tournament.

Barring a last minute discount for single game purchasers, or giving away a bunch of tickets, I'd expect paid attendance of 3,500 - 4,250 and bodies in the building 3,000 - 3,250.

The hold on STH seats releases Monday at 4:00, at which point the ticket site can be used to gauge sales.

Probably end up having to go to Penn St again now in the semis and we have such a great track record against them recently :x
Big assumption we can win round one. We haven’t done that in some time.
Yeah, it's been almost a full year since we won a first-round series.

Attendance for next weekend took a big hit tonight. Barring winning the B10 tourney I cant see them not losing even more STHs next season. ONE win the past two weekends would have put us in good shape for the NCAAs. Now they need to win out

Yes, this was bad timing with the momentum a win could have created with the season ticket price decrease.

A few weeks ago, there were people on here accused of being negative and scolded merely for pointing out that the team had a tough task ahead of it. Guess that had a point.

There's no way now to sugar coat this. They had a late season surge that put them in a good position for a possible NCAA appearance, and they reeled in some fan interest along the way. Then they promptly proceeded to screw the pooch these past two weeks by going 0-2-2. They were in all four games and really blew multiple chances for a couple wins.

This looked like a Motzko SCSU team this weekend...swagger coming in and tail between the legs going out.

Disappointing two weeks for sure...hard to believe a team that finally started coming together let it all fall apart in the end.

However, the team has some real talent for a change, and fans would be picking the wrong time lose interest. I'm hoping next season is a really good time for fans to come back to the rink.

Unfortunately they still need to take a massive step to truly contend next season. We have hoped for progress from individuals over so many summers recently and been let down. We need steps from everyone. Goaltending will be a question mark since I don't know if Lafontaine is a guy that can bring a title. Moe might have to progress and take over.

As of now this season is moving towards a B- or worse grade in my opinion barring a Big Ten tourney win.

Can anyone confirm reseeding occurs? I'm 95% sure it does. If reseeding does not occur, it would be a guaranteed trip to PSU if the Gophers get past ND.

Yeah my man if you’re the type to say a “little snake bitten” I don’t know what to say. For sure not the result any Gopher fan on this board hoped for, but at least there’s still a semblance for expectations of yesteryear, otherwise that’s called apathy.

Appreciate the response because it shows you care (and many have left) but with everything on the line this weekend at home and we have this result is all too expected...

For the first time since I have been shooting at Mariucci. (15 seasons) Only 1 U photographer will be allowed on the ice for Senior night. No one else. Not even Jim Rosvold will be out there. Not a happy camper!
Did they give a reason?
The guy just said.... "Why do you need to be out there" .... :confused2:
Your answer should have been: Because I have ALWAYS been allowed to be out there!

That's what Jim said.... for him it's 17 years. Still no.
Was it someone new or would you like to name names so we can bombard that person with angry emails? :D

Fair enough SlapShot, I deserved that. I made my own bed for sure and thanks for tee’ing that one up as I’d do the same most likely.

I know we’re protective of our brand and oh boy are we protective of that. With that said...UMD has 13 NCAA wins in the tourney in the last 5 years. North Dakota has 6. Both have a championship to boot. We have zero for those keeping score at home waiting to dunk on users on a message board.

Perpetuity? Hardly. But in big moments this program doesn’t seem to respond in the last 5-6 years. Just hope it changes soon but I see how questioning this narrative is definitely not a fruitful endeavor and lesson learned on here.

Here’s to better and brighter days. Upwards and ownwards.

I have yet to watch the replay but it appeared to me that ranta fell back into his old habits. He does not have great on ice vision and frequently skates himself into traps and dead ends, coughing up the puck just as it looks like MN is set up to sustain possession. Feels like he tries to do way too much himself and doesn't play a consistent team game. Very frustrating to watch, because he has the tools....now Jaxon Nelson's last couple of shifts ..wow.

The youngest team in the country that had a horrible start to the season ended up tied for 2nd in the Big 10 standings and is in the top 16 in the Pairwise.

I agree with this, though tied for 2nd is a bit comical when that means 4th place and dead center in the conference. They finished average. Which is what they were. They were below average, then they were above average, then they were average to finish. Overall, average.

Which not terrible for a team with 3 seniors, a new coach, two freshmen goalies, and most of the success coming from sophomores or freshmen.

BC plays 6 senior forwards, and their top line has two seniors and a junior, and 4 senior defensemen, plus a junior in their top 6. Last night they only had 7 underclassmen skaters in the lineup (the Gophers had 14), so it's not the same thing at all but nice try. But their lights out freshman goalie is definitely nice to have.

I’ve said it before, but Ranta must be the most frustrating to play with. He gets the puck and tries to do it all himself. He rarely lifts his head to see where everyone else is at. When he does pass, he’s in a panic because he has no other option and just throws it away. With all the attention he garners he should be racking up assists.
