According to Jim Dahl's Monte Carlo runs as of Monday, there's a 31% chance of a PWR ranking of #15 with two wins this weekend

And the following breakdown for End of Season PWR ranking:

41.8% chance of #7 with 8 wins
27.6% chance of #9 with 7 wins
22.5% chance of #12 with 6 wins

Might as well continue playing Gopher Hockey and win the B1G Conference title for the Championship bye and auto entry to the
NCAA Frozen Four

Go Gophers!

I will never, ever feel safe unless the Gophers are in the top 10 pairwise or an automatic bid after what happened a few years ago. Just keep winning and win the B1G 10 tourney.

I would think #12 would be safe 95% of the time.

Saturday ticket sales are looking good. Which is weird because I think the beverage promo is for Friday only...

Did the U give away some Satruday tickets or have a State Fair deal for them? Any time you have a massive outlier in single game ticket sales something is behind it.

Regardless, should be a decent amount of bodies in the arena Saturday.

Correction looks like the bevvy deal was for Saturday, too. Probably sold out of the allocated promo tickets. But still interesting to see Saturday doing so much better than Friday.

They do not have a TON of tickets to sell.... They still sell 7-8k in a normal game. I am guessing they will sell much more now that the team is playing well.

But they are AVERAGING 37% no shows based on last years numbers. 3100 people who buy tickets each game and do not show up. That is the biggest problem right now.

The 3 rows around were we sit appear to be full for Friday, roughly 80 seats left in our section. I'm guessing a youth team may have those seats, which is one of the section they put them in. Looks to be more seats available in our section for Saturday, roughly 130 seats.

Beverage promo is good for both games. I just purchased two of the promo tickets and made a mistake by clicking on Friday when I wanted Saturday's game. I called the ticket office and got them switched. Had Sec 4 Row 20 for Fri and got Sec 24 Row 12 for Sat because there were not as many left for Sat per customer service.

As a STH you often think of both games as a package. But when you realize most people aren't going to hop on for both games, you realize why Saturday would sell way more in this situation.

Friday start time of 7:00 can be tough for people to get to. If you work until 5:00 have a commute and get back into the city it can be difficult. Pushing the start time to 7:30 would help people out. I'm sure with TV not always possible but if it's FSN and not the first game of a double header should be doable.

I ended up buying another ticket just to get the hat and couldn’t even give away the ticket. But yeah, STH should be their priority for stuff like that.

Last series of year against uw with title on the line in 15-16 would have had way more hype among others...

Top 5 at least...
"Hard work will beat talent, if talent doesn't work hard"
Doug Woog - 1990

This quote was written on the chalkboard in a lockeroom in the old Ralph Engelstad arena my Squirt team used the day after the Gophers used it and came into the game ranked #1 in the nation and lost 6-1 to a second rate Whioux team.

Overhead on SiouxSports.com - Why does every thread always turn into a "Gopher" thread? Is there a secret infatuation with them?

How many times (if ever) has a Gopher since met his total goals that season from any class? Truly remarkable.

Ryan Potulny had 38 goals just a few seasons later.

38 goals was the most in the previous 10 years and has still not been topped since by anyone on any team.

Potulny is the only one. Looks like the next closest was Bjugstad with 25 in 2011-2012 (not including Vanek's 26 in 2003-2004.

Speaking of goal scorers, McLaughlin better get going if he's to net 20 goals this season as Ben Clymer predicted.

Earlier this year the U said it was because they wanted to be more family friendly and start a couple of games at 5 to accommodate that. Who know how true that is. I don't mind it since I have to drive 3 1/2 hours home, so i wish all Saturday games were at 5pm :D

Seriously, go get tested as who knows if anyone else from that plane to Madison was at the game and has spread corona. And for the love of god stay home; don’t bring whatever it is to Mariucci!
I hope you feel better. I had to stay home puking during the first Mariucci classic game so I get it.

Not even close to puking. Seems like a slowly evolving cold. Only issue is the cough is getting slowly worse each night and not attending the game would simply be to not spread germs. When I looked up cold info it sounds like if it's just the cough you can still go to work.

Also news out of madtown is the public is not at risk and that this kid was only on the plane and then to the hospital.

Just a pesky cold.

Sounds like what my daughter has, her deep cough got worse before it got better. Sounded so painful too.

Getting sicker instead of better. And I rarely ever get sick more than a day or two. Don't want to miss this dang series.

But what about all the other peeps in the plane he was in contact with?! How do we know none of them didn’t come in contact and may have been at the game or bars where we were?
I’m not saying be an alarmist, but coronavirus is coming so just be prepared, and cross your fingers nobody you know becomes a statistic 😬
Either way safest to stay home and rest, especially if you’re still getting worse.

Don't they now have an online option for a season ticket holder to offer up single game tickets for sale?
We can email them to you, but recipient must have a gopher athletic account, not a user friendly system.

I mean, it's unfriendly in a "get off my lawn" kind of way. Once you do have said account, it's 3 clicks and the tickets are in your virtual wallet. I get that the definition of user friendly has changed, but we've come a long way since needing to get the tickets in the mail by Tuesday to make sure the recipient had them. As with everything else pointed at as a reason no one shows up....yawn (not saying YOU'RE doing that here)

This is a BIG home series. The Gophers need at least a win and a tie to keep the momentum towards achieving an NCAA at large bid. MSU has given them trouble in the past couple years. They need to make a stand this weekend, should be a fun one at Mariucci ☝️

As mentioned, they do. This was not a season ticket however (purchased a single to get the hat). I also had to show the ticket to get said hat.

Once I got the hat I asked several people in in the lobby and line for tickets if they wanted a free ticket. I couldn’t give it away.

I remember the days when scalpers would surround you outside the building, offering to pay more than face value for your extra ticket(s).

Yeah, it's annoying when you don't have the right ticket for some of these cool promos. Shortly after I graduated with my third degree, they gave away soccer-style scarves to the student section and I had to bribe a student to get one for me. It's not the end of the world to miss out, but I do wish there were avenues short of buying and eating a second ticket or going onto the grey market.

I do like that they've been bringing back legends for autographs as a way to get people in the building, this weekend being the third time. The focus right now seems to be on the last two championship seasons for obvious reasons, but hopefully they eventually also invite back other great players who may not have been in the spotlight as much.

Men's hockey Facebook is advertising a long sleeve t-shirt for students tonight with a bunch of cool designs on it (Mariucci's hat, the championship banners, 0.6, etc.) Maybe I shave and try to go through the student gate tonight...

The last time the Gophers won 9 out of 10 was the start of the 11-12 season, capped with the best home series of the 2010s, the sweep over UND with the Rau goal.

A sweep this weekend would be 9 out of 10.

Nice goal at the end of the period. They got a little lethargic in the end of the 2nd period.

Just a solid game. Pressured a lot in the first. Took advantage of their chances in the second. Played a little back in the third, but played smart and safe. Didn’t feel like Michigan St had too many grade A scoring chances. Defense is playing better and better.

Since the Thanksgiving embarrassment,
12 games
23 goals against (obviously, less than 2 a game)
8-3-1
4 games giving up 3 or more, 3 of them losses

Give up 2 goals or fewer in college hockey and you're gonna win games. That's what's happening right now.

Reedy looks good this year despite some not wanting him on this team. Good solid win again, and would guess you would ride Moe again on Saturday. I thought it was McLaughlin's best game of the year. Not sure what happened to Staudacher, but he wasn't out there after the 1st period. Will check out tBob's clothes tomorrow at the coaches talk before the game to insure he has not let this winning streak get to his head. The bandwagon is starting to fill up. #WinForTheWooger

Seth Ambroz had a year that he was pretty good at it.
