Really hope we get full buildings for the UND series.

Mariucci classic should be fun.

I wasn't a big fan of the ASU team and I know there was no guarantee of a return date after playing them this year, but I would really like to travel to Tempe/Phx to watch the Gophers. However, they would need to play it in Glendale or downtown PHX to accommodate all the fans.

I hope they come further west. I haven’t been to a game in years. Would like to see DU. Easy flight from San Diego.

The contract for the game on the 2018-19 season was just for that one series. It was not tied to a return game unlike some of the other scheduling agreements Minnesota has in place.

Right. Doesn't mean we can't sign a new contract with them going forward for future schedules. Just means we aren't for certain heading to Arizona next season.

Would we have more fans there or at our home games?

Considering the number of snowbirds there, their current rink seating about the same as Pagel, and I would assume a fair number of fans using the trip as a winter break in warm weather, that yes, there would be more fans there than would come to a series at Mariucci.

A standard college hockey season has 36 games. 24 of those are B1G games. That leaves 12 non conference games or 6 non con weekends. Nodak, Niagra, UMD and Mariucci Classic add up to 4, so we’d still have 4 games left to schedule.

I count six NCAA tournament participants (one Frozen Four participant) plus the f'n hawks and every Minnesota team.

The opponents on the schedule can't be an attendance excuse for the upcoming season.

Yes we will be outnumbered because Gopher "fans" will be bitching about the price. That will be the one game where the price is right because it will be sold out.

How about you sell a chunk of them to UND to distribute to their fans for about $90 a pop, and then give the gopher fans 50 dollar prices. Would that ever happen?

Idk really. Nodak limited our availability of tickets for the Vegas game IIRC. Couldn’t the U just do something like that? Not that you’d necessarily want to in terms of making money. I’d just rather the building be AT LEAST 75% maroon and gold.

ND just made Tix available in Vegas to season ticket holders first (presage), who promptly purchased all of them. The U can try that but.....

Rumor has it the U of M was asked if they wanted a block of tickets to the Vegas game but turned it down because they didn’t think they could sell them. I.e they didn’t think they could make enough money. As I’m sure you know the U is only about making bucks. Regardless of who they screw.

I would have bought them in a second. Once I saw UND sold all without going public I threw up a middle finger to the whole event.

A dozen of us tried to get tickets the second they went on sale. Not one of us got them.

And U of MN fans complain we had no fans there. The U of MN is at fault.

Or maybe they were right and they wouldnt have sold out. (which would have made the U responsible for the unused tickets) Gopher fans arent exactly proving that wrong of late in any sport.

I count six NCAA tournament participants (one Frozen Four participant) plus the f'n hawks and every Minnesota team.

The opponents on the schedule can't be an attendance excuse for the upcoming season.
But the $100.00 per ticket for the Whioux is outrageous
Is that what it is?
that is what it was last time they played here

Anyone have any guesses on what the mystery road trip will be? I’ve heard St Lawrence tossed around a bit. Fingers crossed for Houghton but I know that won’t happen.

Last time the whioux were in town, tickets were 90$. Hopefully they’ve learned from their mistake....
Profit maximizing for that game is not a mistake. Just about everything else they do is.
I don’t exactly recall a packed house the last time they were here. That’s butts in seats though and not paid attendance, which might’ve sold out.

Schedule AIC, and let's take that arena over! (attendance for a meh game was about 300 this year).

Yes, this post is in jest, made for the lulz.

That may change for them. They had more than that in Fargo it seemed. They have also won more NCAA games in the last 4 years than SCSU...

Not sure I follow this line of reasoning. UND hosts a game at Vegas. UND has a presale for tix and they are sold. UofMN is at fault cause you couldn't get tix? I know there was a "rumor" that the school were offered tix and turned it down, but I wouldn't count on that.

I have tried going through the U multiple times for games at BC, NE, Notre Dame and other away games in the past, and without exception they have always said they didn't have access to any tix. While I am sure they get some for family that make the trip (like the couple of rows behind the visiting bench at the Mooch), that's vastly different from getting any available for sale.

It’s not a rumor, it happened. It was something on the order of 1500 tickets too, IIRC. So yeah, we could have had fans representing our school but the U of MN was too worried they wouldn’t get enough money.

Cowgirl is right, it is not a rumor but fact. The U was offered 1500 tickets but turned it down because they didn't think they could sell the tickets. They didn't want to be on the hook for the unused tickets.

I thought that was a real bizarre way to "display" the schedule (Saturday game upper right, Friday game lower left), until I realized it's because they have 2 "half-season" packages.
Currently under construction.
