I sure the place will sell out when Illinois goes D-1. I know I can hardly wait. At least two more awesome conference games.
Just like the people were beating the doors in to watch Alaska-Anchorage and Michigan Tech. Stop with the selective memories wcha bobos.
Gophers would draw good crowds for both those games.
Not even sure what a WCHA bobo is. I am just trying to explain why the seats are empty.
Because we have $h!teee fans.

and in the current climate of no shows if you think the U was drawing 9k for a series against AA I've got some nice ocean front property in Tulsa to sell you.

My bad. They would draw a good crowd when they were still in the WCHA. Yeah it would Ferris State like today.

I know I’m a contrarian but I don’t care if it’s Ohio State or Penn State or Mankato or UMD, I’m there to watch my team.
Me too...but silly me I am a Gopher fan.

If you only care about the team based on who they play...

When the team was good UAA drew no one to Mariucci. (along with Tech and UMD before Sandy btw) This revisionist history some fans have around here is hilarious. You could pick your row for those games.

The WCHA was better overall but there’s so many other factors besides the conference switch that have contributed to the current product here as well as college hockey in general.

I don’t know how we survived the CCHA creation. I mean, that stripped key rivals from our schedule. The B1G actually gave them back.

Yep.
Add in the fact that on an entertainment level (pace/style of play), PSU and OSU and Michigan and Wisconsin with Granato have been WAYYYYYYYYYYY more entertaining than the old garbage games we used to see against undermanned Tech, Mankato, UAA, Bemidji, and pre-Sandelin UMD etc.
The only games that even rivaled the pace of play we routinely see in the PSU/OSU/Michigan/Wisconsin games lately were the old DU and CC teams, and the Sundogs.

I don't put that first game on the website schedule page. But it is on the calendar that you can subscribe to on your phone. I also put the GPL Podcast on that calendar as well.

If they didn't wait until two weeks before the season started to announce this stuff, then I wouldn't be on GPL refreshing the schedule portal every five minutes to find out what time the games are. I just want to know already!!

Any word on a B1G TV schedule yet?

Seems kind of strange to be approaching a 7 day window before the first game (exhibition) and not know the TV schedule for the balance of the season's games . . . .

In addition, it appears that there's been a change in the way HTML is parsed in, e. g., the "Signature" - any helpful feedback would be appreciated . . . .
Not knowing what to do, they do what they know . . . .

So it appears games with no local TV:

Saturday @ CC
Saturday @ UMD
Saturday @ Michigan
Saturday @ Ohio State
Entire series @ Notre Dame (but probably on/stream on (NBCSN)

Check that, looks like @UMD will be on Fox9+

So just 4 B1G games and the Saturday CC.

The missing @ Michigan game was supposed to be on Fox Sports Detroit... But they backed out of that broadcast last night.

So you can see that the negotiations are a bit crazy and go to the last possible minute.

I assume CC can be streamed through the NACHO $$ site and probably UMD as well. Hopefully the B1G series are either available via NBCSN stream or BTN (or FS or whatever it is now).

whoa whoa whoa...
I see all the FSN games are listed with "BTN+" as the streaming option.

Did BTN change their structure? Is BTN2Go no longer around and it's been integrated into BTN+?

Or does this mean if I have access to BTN but not the local FSN I now have to also purchase the BTN+ package to stream the games?

That wouldn't be so bad because I could avoid the $50/month for Youtube TV, but then all the games on BTN I wouldn't be able to watch.
Basically it looks like to view all the games from out of state you have to purchase both a streaming service like Youtube or Fubo, as well as the BTN+ subscription.

Please tell me I'm wrong. Gonna be hard to justify $80/month just for streaming one team.

You are hoping for too much considering we support a niche sport.

YTTV is worth every penny. Almost all the sports channels.

I don't think it's hoping for too much, especially considering this is a change from how it has been set up since the inception of BTN2Go.

between the youtube tv price hike and the addition of having to roll a BTN+ sub all season, that is a 320% increase in what I had to pay last year.

EDIT: OK, looking at BTN+ sub prices I see it is $10/month for one school. That is better than I had initially thought. Still really frustrating though to go from $25/month to $60/month.

I don't understand your math. Internet + BTN+ = 60 for you?

Last year your internet + cable was 25?

Youtube TV last year was $25/month. You could watch all the games aired on FSN via the BTN2Go app.
This year it is $50/month, but you can't watch the FSN games on BTN2Go. Twice the price with about 1/3 less functionality.

So yes, last year was $25/month for basically all games.
This year $60/month for the same coverage.

That's what this is all about lol...

Check the schedule released by the Big Ten. The streaming option for games aired on FSN is listed as BTN+.
That would be a change from last year where basically any game televised, whether on BTN or not, was available for streaming on BTN2Go.

Maybe this needs to be reiterated, though I can feel a lot of eyes glazing over by this discussion =P

If you have the channel BTN on some package (cable or streaming), access to BTN2Go is included in your package.
You always have to pay extra for a BTN+ subscription regardless of whether or not you are already paying for the Big Ten Network.

All games that are on FSN or BTN will be available on the FoxSports App from here on out. No longer available on BTN2Go or FoxSportsGo.

BTN+ the paid option will only be needed for games not on regular TV, like the exhibition on Sunday.

This seems like potentially worse news. Does this mean as an out-of-state viewer that I can't access the games aired on FSN at all (even with a BTN+ subscription) unless I have a cable package that includes Fox Sports North?

You would think that Fox Sports would have a subscription package to see Fox channels (and BTN simulcast streams) from across the country (maybe a la carte). Not saying it would be cheap but the infrastructure would be there.

CORRECTION...

Any games on FSN will be streamed on the FoxSportsGo app.
Any games on BTN will be streamed on the FoxSports app (no "Go")

FoxSportsGo.... is meant for the Regional Networks. (FSN & FSN+)
FoxSports.... is meant for National Networks (Fox, BTN)

I'm out of state & a FUBO subscriber. Get BTN but no access to FSN.

I'm interpreting it the same way - this year, all non-BTN games on FSN (regular or plus) channels can be streamed on BTN+. Can subscribe (all-access BTN+ subscription or MN only) to see these games.

If you are really crazy for college hockey, FloSports is another streaming option. It includes access to BTN+ games and also several conferences (B1G, WCHA, NCHC, Atlantic, also Women's hockey) for a monthly fee

If the Big Ten schedule release is believed to be accurate, it does look like the Fox Sports North games will be available to view by purchasing the BTN+ subscription.
But it's difficult to know for sure as all the various streaming platforms and where their access is associated is so convoluted. Previously, BTN+ didn't offer any games that were being televised on any channel, so this would be a pretty big change to that platform.

I think the easiest answer for me personally is to pay my sister who lives in Plymouth to purchase a YouTube TV sub that will have the MN regional channels. I know YTTV allows for streaming on multiple devices and across regions, so I should be able to use that to get FSN.

I know I can't be the only out-of-state viewer confused by the changes, so in the mean time I will reach out to BTN and see if I can get a clear answer, and report back what I learn.

If you have any family or friends that get FSN, just get there cable login info (if they’re willing) and you can use that to watch via Foxsports or FoxsportsGo. I don’t have cable and use my parents cable login to watch the Twins, Wild and Gophers (hockey and football).

OK, so just sent off my 3rd email to BTN and still waiting on my first response.
From what I can glean after going round 'n round with someone on the "BTN+ live chat" -
BTN+ is NOT an option for live streaming of games aired on either the Big Ten Network or Fox Sports North. It MAY be an option to watch recordings of those games, after midnight the day of the game.

Going through the Fox Sports site, it is clear that if you don't have the regional Fox Sports North in your package you will not have access to the live stream via the Fox Sports streaming app.

So what does that mean for out-of-state fans? We're kinda SOL.
It seems to me options include:
- purchasing the super-deluxe package (that includes other Fox Sports regional channels) from a satellite or cable provider to the tune of a couple hundred dollars a month and a long-term contract
- Finding someone who lives within the Fox Sports North footprint to purchase a streaming service like YouTube TV on your behalf
- Not watch any of the games aired on Fox Sports North, or try to find a bar in your area that has access to FSN

In the past, if you had Big Ten Network, BTN2Go allowed streaming of all the games on Fox Sports North. That isn't the case starting this season.

To further clarify:
Previously, games broadcast on Big Ten Network were also streamed on BTN2Go.
Games broadcast on FSN were streamed both on the Fox Sports Go app available to people who had a package which included FSN but also streamed on BTN2Go for people who had a package with BTN.

Now, games on BTN are streamed on the Fox Sports site, which is accessible to people who have a package with BTN.
Games on FSN are only streamed on Fox Sports Go which is linked to the regional channel the game is being broadcast on, and requires a package which includes that regional channel.

No, basically my brother who lives in NE has DISH, he lets me use his password so that BTN2go is synced up with DISH and I could watch the FSN games via stream because BTN2go streamed the FSN north games as well as the BTN games. But basically since BTN covers a much larger region than FSN north it basically sees that he’s in the BTN region and I get access to the game rather than what we have now where it sees him in fox sports Nebraska or whatever it’s called and he wouldn’t get our local FSN north programming.

Semi-related but my parents somehow got FSN north in SE Wisconsin for the longest time until they dropped DISH. Now they can only catch gopher games on BTN or ESPN I think. No idea how that used to work but it did.

The BTN2Go app is no longer the streaming app for those games.... In fact, BTN2Go is what has been rolled in to the Fox Sports App.

All BTN games will be on the Fox Sport App
All FSN games will be on the Fos Sports Go app.

BTN2Go is going away... EDIT: BTN2Go is turning in to BTN+ for the paid games.
