I appreciate a pitchers duel every now and then, but this game is kind of boring (so far).

EDIT: I knew posting this would backfire 5 minutes later. :)

When Bellinger squares up a 98MPH fastball there is little doubt he will trot.

Word of note. I gave in, after I dunno how many years, and went to Taco Bell about 2 weeks ago, the one on 394. 5:30pm, half hour wait. I hated myself for doing it, I just wanted some sh*tty Tex-Mex. I can only imagine what the line would be like for free food.

Yeah. He had a fastball/slider from May a few days ago. His slider is low 90s and has 15" of break the other direction. It's insane.

Parents: if you want your kid to play high level baseball, use this offseason for competitive batting practice. Throw the ball hard. Turn the velo up on the machine. If you can't throw it hard enough from distance, move the pitcher closer to the hitter. Throw breaking balls and change-ups. My PMs are open if anyone wants help/advice on various drills to use.

SP throwing a gem, gets pulled due to analytics.

Not to be the Debbie Downer of the group, but the "got pulled because of analytics" is a bit of a lazy argument. Unless you're also willing to say the Rays had the best record in the AL and were the second best team in baseball despite having a payroll lower than Betts and Kershaw have combined "because of analytics" too.

Snell was dealing, there's 0 doubt about it. If it's me in Cash's shoes? I give him at least one more hitter. But Snell's ERA from the 5th inning and on this season was 8.00. He had not pitched 6 full innings yet this season (he went 5.2 four times). Hell, he hasn't gone 6 full innings in 21 consecutive starts. Their bullpen has been largely damn near unhittable (highest regular season ERA of any of their big 5 relievers was 2.55). That's how they won games all season long. Get a lead early, have your starter turn the lead over to your dominant bullpen, win.

I'm more surprised that he went with Anderson in the 6th than that he pulled Snell, considering the Dodgers seemed to be squaring him up, and the fact that Anderson had allowed at least one run in 7 straight postseason games?

Also factoring in Betts history of success against Snell (.304/.370/.522 in 27 career at-bats), and it makes more sense to change it up. I still would have probably left Snell in at least for Betts and Seager, especially if the option was to go with Anderson.

Ultimately, there were two bad pitches in back to back batters that changed everything. Betts hit the line drive down the line for a double, then a wild pitch to score the tying run. A fielder's choice trying to get Betts at the plate gives them the lead but you can't blame the pitcher for getting a ground ball.

Turns out the first positive test was taken yesterday, positive result came in the afternoon. Another test administered, came back positive again. Then yanked off the field. I guess the MLB asked him to not go on the field to celebrate, but he and the Dodgers insisted.

So if he was positive before the game, the team was already exposed so letting celebrate with them seems like a moot point.

He shouldn’t have even been at the park then but can you imagine if they’d made his results public before the game? Would they have had to shut down and test both teams?
Are they required to have multiple positive tests before actually taking action?

As alluded to in another thread, I think a lot of folks will be avoiding reporting symptoms or testing if they think it might affect their social lives in a way they don’t want......which is just sad - especially in the middle of rapidly rising numbers.

Yeah, that crap does not pass the smell test, and I would be pissed if he were on the field with me. That was selfish. It sucks, hardcore, but you have more than you and your team to think about. You have to think exponentially.

It's kinda like the UND recruit story on another thread. If you're really good at sports you get a pass.

In this case it seems the LAD chose to ignore analytics.
They chose poorly.

My brother just texted our baseball group chat and said "At least the White Sox are doing what they do best: sprinting away from success" 🤣

Are you saying he hasn’t spent the last 9 years becoming the next Joe Madden/Kevin Cash analytics savant amongst managers?

Do you think he’ll realize he has no need to put the pitcher into the 8 hole any longer?

Not MLB level but still amazing nonetheless. Kid hits the ball from the pitcher, and a foul from another field at the same time. I mean we all probably did that at one time as kids but our parents just weren’t recording everything we did, right?

Apparently, during the arrest, La Russa said, "Here's my World Series Ring, I'm legit!"

To go along with Paddack, Dinelson Lamet, Clevinger, and potentially Mackenzie Gore in that rotation. With that lineup.

Dodgers gonna have some severe competition
