So Detroit got 2 #1s, a #3 and a backup QB for a career average QB at the end of his career, plus they’re guaranteed those will be decent picks as the Rams won’t be better than .500 with Stafford at QB.
The end of his career? He's only 32. He's still probably got 4-5 quality years left in the tank and LA is clearly in win-now mode with the talent they have on defense. I may be higher on Stafford than others but IMO this is a significant upgrade and makes them favorites in the NFC West next year.

The other thing to factor in: Goff's contract was HIDEOUS. So they probably had to throw in added value to get any team to take it.

The big winner is Houston, they fired Bill O'Brien before he could trade Watson for the same package.

Stafford is a professional QB but Rams overpaid. I'm guessing the are going for it all before their window SLAMS shut.
I’ll bet Stafford’s average stat line is 3tds 2 key int and an L. Also bet most Det fans are glad to see him go.

There’s no doubt that the key here is dumping Goff’s awful contract . McVay obviously thinks he can rehabilitate Stafford and maybe he can. Stafford has all the keys for a great QB except he makes the wrong decisions in important situations. It may work out well for LA in the short term but that’s a lot for give up. Who knows maybe Stafford has a career rejuvenation there.

You'd need to drop the comparison one level to help Stafford avoid unnecessary embarrassment, go Dan Fouts. No title, but he won playoff games.

I think the winning percentage shows the GB title is much less a fluke. Consistent winning vs consistent losing/mediocrity . [puke]

The big winner is the NFC North. Detroit will continue being a punching bag

To your point though the haul for Watson is going to be huge with this as a baseline. It may get impacted a bit by him wanting out but it will still be huge

Nothing will ever eclipse the day the Vikings emptied their pockets for Hershel Walker. Sometimes blunder trades serve as a cautionary tale, and this could be one of those.

If they figure out how to draft, this could be the start of something for Detroit..... but they’ll screw it up.

As I recall his first "carry" while wearing purple came on a kickoff return for a touchdown. At that euphoric moment in time Viking fans the world over thought that trade was genius. :ddown:

Haha I was going to mention the one thing I remember was a game against the packers that he went for a long run while losing a shoe. This is my sum total good memory of the Hershel years:

Can any of you see ARodg doing this? Just saying. Stafford is a beast. He just didn't have competent management/coaching/team/etc. Switch places with ARodg. Same discussion, but names are switched. Honestly.

"McIngvale routinely uses the betting market to mitigate risk on sales promotions at his furniture store."

This doesn't seem logical. I assume the loss becomes a tax write-off for him if he claims the sports bet is hedging for his business?

I suspect it's either that, or a matter of... if Tampa wins the SB, business sales promotions will cost him several million, so, he's basically taking a 3.5 million insurance policy out, because the publicity from the store sales event will offset that.

This year, customers at McIngvale's store who spend $3,000 or more on a new mattress will get their money back if the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

I was looking, but missed that part. I presume those purchases must be BEFORE the game, so if KC wins, he's gotten a bunch of extra sales that people were likely to make at some time, but maybe not at HIS stores... so, he drops 3 Million as an insurance policy and basically writes the whole thing in to taxes as a 3 million dollar cost.

For anyone that thinks this is improper, please remember that every big jackpot event that happens with sports... the Field Goal from the 50 yard line... free-throw from the opposite circle... anything like that where the prize is of any real size... the organizers are working with an insurance company. They buy a 100,000 dollar policy to cover the 1 million payout or whatever. Which is why the rules on those things are so touchy. The insurance company actuaries are the ones who decide the odds based on very specific rules.

Gretzky. And I still will stick to my guns and say Peyton is just as good as Brady. Know the easiest 2 jobs in sports? Being Peyton's backup, and being the Colts OC. You simply hold a clipboard and tell Peyton "Um, go do....something. Whatever."

Note: this is NOT taking anything away from Brady. He's Top 3 shoo-in, and I'm not even thinking about hesitating when saying that.

I think for pro football, Brady is the Goat. It is always hard to compare sports against each other especially in different era's.
I will add Bill Russell in the mix with his 2 NCAA titles, 11 NBA titles, 5 MVP's in his 13 or 14 year playing career.

Refs are trying hard to be the MVP of this game so far.
Those 2 calls at the end of the half were horrible. And I bet on the Bucs.

To be honest, I think all of them were reasonable calls. There were certainly a couple that could have been let go and not raised too much objection, but nothing that was called struck me as just plain bad.

The PI was uncatchable and incidental, IMO.
The end zone call was uncatchable, obviously throwing it away.

However, looks like I'm gonna win my bet.

I think on both the PI calls, that you can't say it was uncatchable because the hit was a good two steps before the ball got there, which is why they were called.

Given how things have been called in the NFL the last few seasons, I'm a bit surprised the smack to Mahome's helmet wasn't called just now, though. (Not that I think that particular hit should be a penalty, being very much incidental contact, but, that kind of contact does seem to get called)

The Chiefs can’t even commit a goddamn turnover without a penalty.

The end zone one may have been a little soft but not the one before that. If Evans isn’t held up he has a chance of getting it

KC’s worst nightmare is vintage Brady, vintage Gronk and vintage Brown. Heck even Fournette is looking like a top 5 pick again

Obligatory.

The M&Ms, Gwen Stefani, and Shaggy ads were the best of the night. I completely lost it during the Shaggy ad.

The Oat Milk...WTF? Wayne's World was great! NOT. And the Paramount series' only good moment was "You said crack." "Giant crack" Simply for nostalgia's sake.

IMO, this is a mirror image of the AFC Championship. TB is not letting KC play their game, much like KC didn't let BUF play their game.

Not sure 90 was the right player to call that roughing the passer on, but that definitely was going to be called against one of the three.

In this case, Suh led with his forearms into Mahomes' upper arm, the contact with the head was as Mahomes was almost the the ground.

Just sayin' Tom isn't the slam-dunk GOAT as advertised. There are a couple others in the discussion. That's it. No more, no less. Related, there was a discussion with friends about top 5 Rock, top 5 country, songs of all time. Sisyphean task. There's a group of top 5 songs, top 10 songs, etc. Different levels of separation, and I think that goes for sportsball players, too.

It's extremely difficult to name a single greatest player ever, as there are always 2-3 others in that discussion.
