I’ve noticed Tampa loves to use Tyler Johnson as a blocker on screens and runs to his side. He is very good at that. It will keep him employed longer if he commits to it.

Our boy Johnson needed to catch that one. Would have kept that drive alive...if TB could have gone up 14-0 that would be a hill to climb against brady

The decisions by both of these teams have been very questionable late in this game. How ironic that the Peckers were livid with such an obvious penalty on their DB when their tackles have been holding all game long and not been called once on it.

Oh well...Down goes Green Bay. Feel kind of dirty about it as it's Brady that beats them.

It was definitely a hold on the Packers, but I also give Tyler Johnson a 9.5 on the Robbie Earl diving scale. The Packers fans should be more upset that they did not try to score a TD instead of the FG late.

9 yard line with just over two minutes down by 8 and you kick a FG?

What an absolute awful call.

Playing to go to the SB and that’s what you go with?

I didn't get that FG at all. Give the ball to Brady with the lead & needing to burn 2:09? I'm surprised they only got beat by 5 & not 8 or 12.
Letting the play means not calling ticky tacky bumps, hand checks, etc. Stretching Tyler Johnson's jersey tail out 2' has to get called.
Erin looked absolutely "overjoyed" at the end. Should be an interesting off season in GB

And you would have to score a TD anyway IF you get the ball back.

I could maybe get the call if you would be down by 1-3 and a FG on the next possession would win or tie. But even in that scenario would be tough since there is a strong possibility you don’t touch the ball again.

LOL on the Robbie Earl reference☝️ LaFluer flinched. Ya gotta go for it on 4th down. If you don’t make it, Tampa is still pinned on their 10 yard line & still up by 8, so play calling likely a bit more conservative than if up by only 5. And if GB D holds for a 3 & out, they get another chance to tie it with a TD & 2 point conversion. A FG putting you down by 5 against a QB like Brady is not a smart gamble!

It sure looked like Rodgers could have scampered in to the end zone on their last 3rd and goal. Instead he throws into double coverage. Not sure why he did that but fine with me.

The going for 3 & still needing a TD to win has some credibility when a tie is not in play. Trailing by 8 go for the TD & if not sucessful 1st & 10 on your own 8 the playbook gets thinner than on your 25.
Hell a safety gives you 2 & the ball so you likely don't have to get much more than 20 yds or so for tying FG.

I'm not at all convinced Rodgers would have made it. There are three defensive players who all could have, potentially, caught him.

In either case, if you miss on 4th down or kick a field goal, your defense must hold. You’re going to have better field position by failing on 4th down and holding than by kicking off.

You 100% go for it.

Two minutes left and take it out of your HOF QBs hands and may not even get it again?

And on top of that your D is not your bread and butter and the opposing team has a good O and Brady.

Just a brutal call.

But if he runs you’re prolly looking at 4th and goal from the 1 or 2 instead of the 8.

Three of the four penalties are on Buffalo, but they offset.
If this was hockey, I would be afraid of the handshake line

Buffalo has a very good team; KC is simply better. Sucks to be on the short end of that, but in this case it applies.
Sorry if already mentioned here earlier in the thread, but the Bucs are the first "home" Super Bowl team, correct?

Maybe. At least we don't need to be on alert with fire extinguishers in a couple weeks.

No welfare check needed. I'm disappointed, but hell, we made the conference championship after being the last NFL team this CENTURY to make the NFL playoffs. Big strides over the last couple of years for the squad.
That skirmish:
KC: taunting, unsportsmanlike
BUF: 2 unsportsmanlike, 1 ejection
That should have been the call, IMO.

Watched the game at Pub 819 in Hopkins with a couple of friends. Had a very cool waitress who laughed when we said we made consecutive 90-minute reservations so we could stay there the whole game. :D
After that KC dagger of a TD to basically seal the game.......

Waitress (knowing we were cheering for the Bills): Make it a double?
Me: It feels like you know exactly what I'm thinking. Yes, please.
Waitress: you got it
(and I think she had the bartender add a little extra in there, it was a healthy double)

In either case, if you miss on 4th down or kick a field goal, your defense must hold. You’re going to have better field position by failing on 4th down and holding than by kicking off.
You do understand I feel it was a mistake to not go for it?
Yes. I was piling on.

Tonight's game reminded me a LOT of the second Bills-Cowboys SB. Started off strong, Bills were actually winning at halftime, then the wheels fell off. Tonight had a 9-0 lead, then boom. Dunzo.

2021 update: The league has alternated home and away teams for the Super Bowl. We are awaiting confirmation, but the NFC will likely be the home team for the game. The Buccaneers beat the Packers in the NFC title game, which means we could see the Bucs as home team in their home stadium for Super Bowl 55. KC was the home team in 2020.

NFL/NFC is the "home team" for odd numbered Super Bowls, AFL/AFC for the even numbered games. Tampa Bay has the choice of what uniform set to wear for the game.

If healthy, Antonio Brown will be playing in the Super Bowl in 13 days. Who could have predicted that one year ago? The twists & turns of fate are surreal.

I shouldn’t have been surprised by this but this was the first Super Bowl that Brady has gotten to where he had to win 3 games.

All 3 games have also been road wins.

You know what is funny is that we all know Brady is the greatest quarterback in NFL history ... no debate!!! then you look at his opponent in the Super Bowl and the guy he is playing against makes you think that maybe Brady really isn't the best quarterback in NFL history???? Just saying.

Mahomes is building quite an impressive resume of his own.

Who would you take and why?

KC is friggin' good. However, going back-to-back is really tough. Plus, Brady has seen every D-scheme in the past 20 years. On the other hand, KC has more weapons. I want KC to win, no Brady Haterade, nor "at least we won to the champions," I have a couple of good friends who hail from KC. However, I think TB ekes this one out by a couple points, maybe even in a classic GW FG.

So apparently Houston has to trade Watson now, just read thru a Bleacher Report story on the top 13 destinations for him. The Vikings were not listed.

The most likely seemed like Detroit or the Jets with Denver also a possibility. The basic cost will be that teams current stater at QB, their first round pick this year, their first round pick next year and possibly another 3 thrown in at some point. Steep but nothing is that crazy for the most important position in sports.

That’s crazy. Stafford is too old for multiple first round picks.

I'm trying to figure out how the Lions will now mess this trade up in Lions fashion. I would say the do something illegal and the NFL will strip away the picks

So Detroit got 2 #1s, a #3 and a backup QB for a career average QB at the end of his career, plus they’re guaranteed those will be decent picks as the Rams won’t be better than .500 with Stafford at QB.
