How is letting him walk better than taking those picks? No it's not an ideal trade but those picks could be used otherwise in the future.

However as of now it sounds like Miami is back in the picture so this should get interesting soon.
I don't want him to walk...I think a "better" deal will come about.

Oh I know...no option is going to be good. That is just the better of the awful options in my mind.

Actually if anything, this has shown how rather weak willed (in my opinion) KAT is. He should be the one walking into everyone's offices demanding they trade Butler but he hasnt and he half the time really doesnt even seem interested in the games. He is the leader of the team and he needs to start acting like it.
Whose office is he going to walk into demanding that they trade him though? Taylor has already told Thibs to trade him. Thibs won't trade him. There's nowhere to go for KAT where anyone would listen to him. Thibs will tell him to F off, Layden apparently has 0 power, and Taylor is already in the trade Jimmy camp.

I don't blame him for not being interested in the games. Thibs picked Jimmy over the rest of the team combined. Why would players want to go out and bust their ass for a lame duck coach who picked a primadonna over the other 13 guys. Especially when said primadonna thinks he's LeBron James but he's wayyyy not.
Because he got paid. Sorry that doesn't fly with me. If you don't care you get ripped period.

Jimmy Butler is telling the Wolves he is sitting out tonight vs. the Jazz. And he could make it longer...

While the bucks are undefeated. So both baseball and basketball now where the MN teams were supposed to become legitimate contenders and it ends up with the wisconsin teams doing just that.

Benz talking about Butler "resting against general soreness" and JimPete just starts dying of laughter.
And they have to pretend like they aren't laughing at the disgrace that the Wolves have turned into by saying they are so excited because it is Halloween.

Incredible TV.

Wolves about to beat Utah without Teague or Butler.
Rose at 50 points tonight!
KAT with 27 and 15 boards. Wiggins with 19 on 8/17 shooting.
Amazing what happens when you get guys playing together who actually like playing together.

Special night at Target Center. So great to see a guy who loves the game so much, and has battled through debilitating injuries, come out tonight and have an amazing game. Give Thibs some credit for believing in Rose.

I wonder if Buckets was watching this performance, and if he felt maybe the slightest tinge of guilt for the $h!t he’s pulling? Probably not.

He's certainly had some questionable off-court stuff/allegations that are not good, but he plays his ass off on the court and has reportedly been cleaning up his off-court behavior too.

Cool to see that kind of emotion and that kind of support from his teammates.

Best I've seen KAT and Wiggins play all year. Both were pretty active defensively and sharp offensively.

Admittedly, I know very little about the NBA, but I have a question. When Jimmy Butler declares that he's going to sit out certain games, does he still collect his full salary or is he docked pay?

Butler out tonight for “precautionary rest”. Hey Glen Taylor, you’re the laughing stock of the league right now, and that’s saying something considering the Knicks and Cavs still play in the NBA.

My god this is a joke. No suspension, no movement on the trade front. It’s amazing to me how some of these owners are billionaires considering how incompetent they are in running a professional sports team.

Ok he is taking another day off...just bench him and be done with it. I would rather win 10 games then let him play every other game and use that to get more money next year.

Fire Thibs, bench Butler and be done with it.

They should just suspend him. But Thibs never will. Because Thibs is delusional. He wrecked the team and everything Flip had tried to build in less than a year and a half.
It would he impressive if it wasn't so incredibly maddening.

Agree, Butler has turned the flippant comment RM made years ago into absolute reality. Suspend the punk (without pay) for pulling this crap.

Not saying they wouldn't be.

But if the first two picks are guaranteed to be 20-30 range and who knows on the last two is it worth it? I think that is the question. Houston has always been a well run organization so I don't think the Wolves are banking on lottery pics at any point in that scenario.

I think this speaks just as loud for the rest of the players on this "team". I can't imaging this type of thing happening in the NHL, simply put "I am going to play the games I want to play".

Seems like the rest of the T-Pups are simply satisfied with showing up and going through the motions and collecting paychecks.

You would think someone would step up and put Jimmy in his place

There is that, but the bigger factor is that Brandon Knight, the guy in the initial trade proposal, has such a terrible contract that Houston likely has to part with at least one, maybe two first round picks for a team to take the contract on.
If they could convince Houston to change Knight to Gordon and then drop one of the first round picks? The Wolves likely take that deal in a heartbeat. But Knight's contract is absolutely atrocious and is really what devalued the four first rounders more than the fact that they aren't going to be lottery picks (they probably will be in years 6 and 8 when the aging Rockets retire).

Are you kidding me? We could have gotten four firsts and we got that plus sending our recent first round pick? Twolves and Twins are hopeless.

No. We did quite well, actually. Especially given the circumstances.

Saric is a 24 year old PF who shot 39% from 3pt range last year. Covington is a good defensive wing who is a career 36% shooter from 3pt range (the 3-and-D guy they've needed for years), and is only 28, plus a 2nd round pick (which will probably be traded in the future, like all second round picks).
We give lose a team cancer and a guy who had been injured since the day they drafted him two years ago and at this rate may never play a meaningful NBA game.

I wonder how long this deal had been on the table from Philly. If Thibs thought he was going to get something better than this he need to be institutionalized.

Talked to a basketball friend of mine. Net gain for the Wolves. Both can shoot the 3. Covington is very good defensively. Added two players for the price of one cancer. Maybe they can get going now.

I would argue that Covington is a better defender than Jimmy Butler. He was first team all defense last season. Saric will open up the floor with his shooting. Wiggins and Towns now have to prove it on the court.

The deal looks worse when you think of what we gave up for him, Dunn has been meh, but Lavine looks really really good, Markkanen looked great as a rookie

Plain and simple addition by subtraction. This frees up Towns and Wiggins to validate their contracts and decide how bad they want to work day in and day out.

Towns has been great each of the last two games since Butler was traded. Wiggins had a nice game tonight too after starting out a little amped up (he was like 1/8 shooting early but finished like 9/22).
Wolves are 2-0 without Butler. Philly lost tonight in Butthead's debut.

This made me laugh.

There is no doubt that Jimmy is super talented, but I never felt like he was a good fit for this team. Towns and Wiggins both operate the best when they have the ball in their hands, same with Jimmy. When Golden State got Durant, it was a perfect fit. Curry likes to have the ball in his hands, but is still deadly spotting up. Klay Thompson is one of the best spot up shooters in the game. So having a player like Durant who likes the ball in his hands didnt hurt their flow, it made it better.

WIggins and KAT have alot to prove, but our goal should of always been to build around them. It felt like Thibs wanted HIS guy and for the other two to support him. Covington and Saric are both solid supporting players. We will find out over the next two years if Wiggins and KAT have what it takes to lead a team.

It wasn't just Butler either. Teague also needs to ball in his hands. I think the team would have been better if 1) we never got Butler or 2) we kept Rubio over Teague. But when you have 4 players that need the ball to be effective and there is only 1 ball to go around you're going to have egos clashing. And Thibs was never going to listen to KAT/Wiggins over his guy(s) Butler and to a lesser extent, Teague.

Good luck to Philly. Jimmy has turned into a younger Carmelo. Terrible teammate who thinks he’s better than he really is.

Have we considered getting more than 1 ball? 4 players that neex the ball and have 2 balls going around out there?

If they double the balls, will they double the time outs too? Schedule a couple days for a game then.

Reason #1,751 why the NBA is a joke. Watch the last two plays of the Memphis at San Antonio game.

35 and 22 for KAT with 19 and 14 from Saric (in like 24 minutes). Plus Rose with another big scoring game.

KAT has really played well lately.
