If Suter said Ef off to Mr Smug, I have gained more respect for Suter now

Word on the street…is that Paul Allen called Suter and asked him if he wanted to come on the radio to vent last week and Suter replied “eff off”. If true…lol…what an entitled Richard…that’s why they cut him…at its core" ☝️😆
I’m not a big fan of Sutter but I see his comment differently then you. I have much less respect for athletes or anyone who publicly whine about a situation. If Allen asked him if he wanted to “vent” on live radio, what good comes of that for Sutter? He comes off looking classless and to quote you, entitled. He pumps up Allen, not himself. Telling Allen to eff off was honestly the adult response, not going on the air and bitching about a past team. That doesn’t look good for any future playing potential. Allen was the one trying to use the situation, Sutter shut him down. Maybe a bit bluntly, but I have a feeling Allen tried to take advantage.
He could have just as easily said "Sure" and used it as a chance to thank the fans, coaches, teammates, etc. and made it look like he's a classy guy.
Fairly sure he's been a guest on PA's show at least a couple times so it's not like they didn't have a preexisting relationship. As far as PA's offer to "vent"... that's kinda just how he talks. I doubt he'd expect Suter to come on the air and rip the team apart.

I keep hearing the Wild looking to pick up Eichel for multiple players and draft choices, I hope they do not make this move

I'd rather make a trade for Dvorak than give up what we would need to in order to acquire Eichel.

Filip Johansson

Still playing in Swedish league. Had 11 points in 46 games last year. Not sure how much longer the Wild own his rights for, but I think it is a couple of more years.

I’d love to see it. Eichel would be the best player that’s ever played for this team. Yes it would cost a decent number of picks, prospects, players but I would trust Guerin to make the right call on whether it’s worth it or not.

In listening to several Russo/Lapanta podcasts, Russo says he got a lot of texts from players/GM around the league that they wouldn't recommend getting Eichel because of character issues and also his neck issue.

My money is on Soucy. And Seattle will take Ben Bishop (Dallas) and Carey Price (Montreal). Followed by trading Price to someone for something or somebody. And Seattle will find and sign a backup to Bishop.

While I don’t luv losing Soucy to Seattle, I’m glad we didn’t lose the goalie. We were going to lose a good player regardless & I’m glad Billy didn’t F around making a trade to influence whom they selected like Fletcher did with Vegas.

Sort of. It tells you everything but the actual schedule.

Try this

Due to the Olympic Break the Wild have only 4 games at the X in Jan and none in Feb.

Everything I have read saying Khakonen "projects" as a career 1B or backup goalie. He's likely at least 3 years from the NHL, if not more. Most goalies take awhile to develop. He might be ready by the time the Wild are out of cap purgatory.

Not sure on any of the prospects that were available, but I don't mind the pick.

Khakonen is 25 in a few weeks. He will be 32 when this kid is 25. This pick has more to do with keeping the goalie pipeline strong versus making the decisions based on the current roster. Probably is more telling on how confident they are on where Hunter Jones is two years after being drafted.

It’s an amateur draft.

Maybe…I was thinking more being compared to the #5 overall pick last year at #26 this year appears quite favorable! Realize it’s just Weeksy making a comparison off the top of his head.

A nice touch by Wild Mgnt & Leopold having Tom Kurvers 4 children in the draft room & letting them announce the two #1 picks, kids showed a lot of courage during this bitter sweet moment honoring their Dad 👍

In regards to their prospects and recent drafts they have drafted mostly forwards the last few years.

For those of use who don't follow the NHL very closely, is this a good contract? Of course it's nice to have a Gopher on the roster, but $5M is a decent sized contract.

I was thinking the buyouts gave them a fair amount of extra space in the short-term, so a deal like that isn't bad.

For one year i think it’s a good deal. It’s probably a tad expensive but it’s one year. They desperately needed a good/decent defensemen to pair with Spurgeon. If they can nab Ian Cole for their 3rd pairing and get a young AHLer to fill the spot opposite Cole they should be decent if they can avoid injuries.

Lot of defensemen coming off the board quickly here. Probably going to get stuck offering Cole too much money.

I'm admittedly biased because I know the family, but I don't understand why he wasn't given more of a shot here. He put up great numbers in 2 seasons in the AHL (including 1st team AHL All Star). Finished 2nd in the KHL in defenseman scoring last season. Yet the $h!teee Wild can't find room on their roster for him, and basically trade him away for almost nothing in return? :conf2:

I'm admittedly biased because I know the family, but I don't understand why he wasn't given more of a shot here. He put up great numbers in 2 seasons in the AHL (including 1st team AHL All Star). Finished 2nd in the KHL in defenseman scoring last season. Yet the $h!teee Wild can't find room on their roster for him, and basically trade him away for almost nothing in return? :conf2:
Not the Wild's fault he turned down a contract last summer and decided to go overseas.

Golly coming home.
Nice, one of my favorite Gophers.
Buying out Suter provided the cap space to sign Goligoski...if things go well BG can sign him after Jan 1 to a lower annual value extension, if it does not, only a one year deal. They simply wanted Suter OUT of the locker room...becoming clearer with each passing day...

Curious if they were just nowhere near each other on contract talks. Does seem a bit of a head scratcher (on the return for him) since his numbers all did look good and it seems like there was a legit opportunity to get more ice time this year.

This may be Bill Guerin letting it be known he isn't going to play games. Want to hold a team up while signing contracts in the KHL? Do svidanya.

Totally agree. Given the return other GMs may think the same thing. You want to demand something unrealistic and jerk us around?? Bye Felicia.

When he signed with Minsk last summer, the AHL wasn't even guaranteed to have a season (they didn't end up starting until February). I can totally understand why he did it. He bet on himself and had a great season over there.

With Suter and Soucy gone, the Wild needed defensemen. I don't think a cheap 1-year/1-way prove it deal would have been too much to ask after tearing up the AHL and KHL. But hey... let's sign another old guy with a No Move Clause, because that's what the Wild does best.

I hope he gets a chance in Toronto.

Cole goes to Carolina. 1 year 2.9M. This isn't going well.

fwiw most comments I've seen from Pens fans suggest they're not happy about losing Gaudreau. Hoping they're right to be upset.

Now the question remains - they seem to have their 2C-4C solidified but they still don't have a real deal 1C even if Rossi makes the team. Curious what the plans are still.

Gaudreau was a 4th line fill in. He had spurts of ok play, but mostly just blah. Nothing really special.

Pretty clear we'll have to trade for defensemen at this point.

That doesn't really detract from what I said. PENs fans from what I have seen are unhappy to lose him and the Wild still need a 1C.

Nick Foligno to the Bruins. This is a real bad FA signing day. Brutal.

I was being a bit knee-jerk, I'll admit. Just figured they'd make a few more pickups than they have. But obviously money is a bit tight and some of the numbers being thrown around the Wild just couldn't do.

BTW I'm totally on board with giving as much pp time as possible to Spurgeon, Dumba and Brodin and mixing in forwards for the other spots. Goligoski could do some of that role, but I they have to just be thinking for Goli as a supporting No. 4 guy. I don't mind BG just sticking to his guns with not overpaying No. 5 and 6 defensemen.
