Hartman with a great performance last night. I didn't even know he was capable of playing like that.

Refs just swallowed the whistles in the middle of the third. Burns cross checks Kaprizov on the back of the melon and there were a couple text book trips right in front of the refs. Even Carter was in disbelief.

SJ goal tending was especially weak last night - and that can deflate a team - but Minnesota didn't flinch after the early goal by Burns They played a pretty complete game last night. It was actually quite entertaining.

Wow Zuccarello looks really good so far since returning.

Great to see Rask contributing as well.

Wild are a tough team to play against. Solid team D. Roll 4 lines & 3 legitimate lines that score. 34 is unflappable in the net & I can only think of one softy he has given up this year.
I'm not saying start planning a Cup parade but they are competitive.
Most of all they play hard.

Can't recall a Wild team playing with this much swagger in forever. Obviously it's very early but as for now there is reason for optimism. It will be interesting to see how they handle teams realizing they better start game planning for a different Wild team than they're used to seeing.

Oh and what Kaprisov did on that 4th goal was sick.

Also I don't care what anyone says those sweaters they had on tonight are sharp.

It was on Comcast 963 (FSN+) for me.

The Guide listed it as “NHL hockey: Teams TBA”. So if you searched for Wild hockey it didn’t come up. You had to physically go to the channel.

It all starts with goaltending and Dzone in the NHL. There is no chance outrunning bad goaltending and D.

The Wild are 7th in goals against and 8th in SV%. And that is primarily with a rookie goalie playing behind the best D corps in the league. A year ago the Wild had the worst goaltending save % in the league but that reason for the teams inconsistency would often be scoffed at.

Couple a good O with the above and you can pile up points fast. And nights/stretches where the goals aren’t coming easily you will still be in most games and still have a shot at getting points.

Amazing how much looser players are when they have a solid goalie. When playing in front of a bad goalie everyone grips the stick a little tighter. Afraid of making bad plays instead of playing creatively.

One thing I like about the wild defensive depth is that they have a very good skating backup in Hunt that can chip in offensively. I’ve always loved Soucy’s game. Saw him play a few times at Amsoil and thought he was a stud.

Really like the Kaprizov, Zuccarello, and Rask line. Hope it continues!

Yeah, my auto record missed it probably because it didn't have "Wild" in the title, so I couldn't find it there for a hot second.

We'll see if this team can build on this road trip. Colorado is a good team, and MN just whooped 'em.

Kaprisov has changed this team, but if guys like Hartman keep playing like this and Kappo keeps playing well, who knows?

When was the last time a MN NHL hockey team had a player like Kaprisov? Um, never. What a fan draw he's gonna be.

It’s nice seeing the Wild D core playing really well Tank but let’s not get crazy, the Lightning have the best D core in the NHL with Hedman, Ryan McD plus Sergachev in 3rd tandem

In regards to the context of my post, Dzone coverage, no one does it better than the Wild. It’s been that way for a number of years now.

Give them league average goaltending and you get top 10 GAA and Save percentage.

Get slightly better than league average and you start flirting with cracking top 5 in GAA and Sv%. And I would say that is about where they are right now.

Dom Luszczyszyn ranked them third with analytics.

Spurgeon 2.3 GSVA
Suter 1.4
Brodin 1.3
Dumba 1.2
Soucy .7
Hunt .5

Ian Cole was a .6.

I think you could argue that the stats might undervalue Brodin and Dumba a little bit based on Brodin's offensive numbers not being a big part of his game and Dumba with upside if he's healthy.

Avs are 1st Makar 3.1, Toews 1.5, Girard 1.1, Graves 1.1, Johnson .4 and Cole .6.
Tampa is 2nd Hedman 3.2, Sergachev 2.0, McDonagh 1.2, Cernak .8, Rutta .3 and Foote .1.

This team is just flat out fun to watch now, putting up 6 on the Avs isn't an easy feat. Wanna see them get revenge on the Kings tomorrow night and start making a run at St Louis and Vegas for the top here.

I think part of the reason they kept him around is to expose him for the expansion draft. Not 100% sure if that is still the case. I think they will just put him on the taxi squad so they can send the Hamburgerlar down to Iowa to try to clean up that mess.

I don’t know how many pipes the Wild have hit today but they’ve shown replays of at least 3 that were solid “Clankers.”

In the second half of the first period the Wild suffocated the Kings without mercy. By the time the horn blew it was like a standing 10-count. LA was hyperventilating.

I admit I wouldn't have thought this team could play at a high-water mark like the past two games against quality competition. I didn't see this level of play coming from Hartman, Sturm, Rask or Zuccarello. The Ek line is giving their opponents all they can handle on every shift. I can't say enough good things about Ek. He is one heckuva hockey player. Then you have Brodin going vertical, controlling the puck and making plays in the offensive zone.

I have to credit a new coach and an electrifying new player for the transformation. Their playing like they believe they can win. The team is benefitting from a solid defense that can move the puck, and the crazy thing is that Parise really hasn't given them much. If he starts putting the puck in the net, there could be another gear left.

Not like we are ever going to get into a shootout again (4-0 in OT!!! who could've imagined that based on recent seasons), but maybe Dumba could give it a go?

First 6 game winning streak since winning 12 in a row in late 2016 per Russo.

I am probably going to need to layoff calling them the Minnesota Mild for awhile, as they have been on a tear here recently.

To think the Wild goaltending was worst in the league last year in save percentage behind these D. That’s beyond atrocious.

All four Kings players were bunched up and standing around as if waiting for the horn to blow.

Dumba, who's made his share of mental mistakes, made a very good one this time. Realizing that time was about to expire, he gave up his defensive position and pushed into the zone. If the clock hadn't run down to under five seconds, he probably wouldn't even be in that spot.

The Sturm kid is coming on, and I like his game.

There was a couple-hour window last night after the Wild game and before the Knights finished theirs, where the Wild were in first.

Todays internet rumor from TSN tv--
Parise and a #1 to Nashville for Johansen. Both under contract until 24-25. Johansen has a $500,000 more per year cap hit, but is 28 years old and Zach is 36. I don't see it happening because Nashville is a team that is fading. Zach won't approve unless it is an upgrade of a team. I would like the trade.

No disrespect to Parise, but Nico Sturm is playing at a higher level than he is right now.

Which goalie gets exposed now? I am nearly certain Khakonen is exempt. We would protect Talbot I imagine, but have to have a goalie, under contract or RFA with qualifying offer, to expose. So unless you're ready to hand Khakonen the #1 (or 1A) job, we will need another goalie under contract.

Can we sign Andrew Hammond to league minimum for a 1-year deal? Does it say anything about having to be a one-way or two-way deal?

Totally minor problem, that I am sure will be easy to solve. Nice to be out from that Stalock contact, but the whole purpose of that deal was to have a goalie to expose haha.

I have a severe aversion to anything Red... I f'n hate Wisconsin! :chainsaw: I know too many people who were bandwagon Red Wing (90s and 00s) and Blackhawk fans (00s and 10s). I want nothing to do with red.

I couldn't stand when the Wild had Red home jerseys for a few seasons. Was so happy when the green and wheat thirds with diagonal script became more common. Even though I didn't like the design, it got rid of the red. I have liked green, there isn't another team using it, other than Dallas who stole their entire team from us. So Dallas, go eff off.

Kahkonen isn't exempt from the expansion draft. Doesn't really matter which one the Wild expose though because there will be better goalies available, and the Wild will likely be exposing very good skaters.
