Dominated for 30 minutes. Takes 6.5 minutes to erase that. It’s the new age NFL. It’s hard to win games grinding out the clock. Need to attack quick and downfield.

That was piss poor "tackling."
3 TDs in 1:53. Game over.

Vikings can't win any more games. There are too many bad teams. They need 1-15 for a shot at Lawrence.

This is why you don’t go for 2 until the 4th qtr, a field goal should make it a 9 point game and it’s over

Absolutely the right call to go for it there. Love the aggressiveness.

Evidently the percentages say going for it was the right thing to do. These percentages never take into account the Vikings history of completely blowing it in these situations, though.

Situational, though. Up 8, 2 minutes, 1 TO for the opposing team? That's a major factor.

We're a bad to mediocre football team, sitting at 1-3. If you have a chance to win the game by gaining 1 yard, you do it.The Rube wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:20 pmSituational, though. Up 8, 2 minutes, 1 TO for the opposing team? That's a major factor.
If we're 3-1 and looking like we're going to be jockeying for playoff positioning, I agree that you kick the fg there.
I definitely stand by Zimmer's decision to go for it, still love the call.

The perfect Viking ending to this season is getting the #1 pick with a chance at a franchise QB & we can draft a cornerback.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
How do they not even measure the 4th and inches on that Mattison run? Sure looked like he was at least back to the LOS and extended the ball out.
No idea how that safety gets to stay in the game when he didn't even attempt to avoid high contact, but Harrison gets ejected and fined for going lower and still making contact.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Another massive choke to Seattle. Zimmer 0-2 on critical calls. Too early to go for 2 and then goes for 4th and inches instead of a FG...I guess I know where he's coming from. Vikings were blowing out Seattle by running the ball...except when it matter...you know, to put the game away.
Kick a field goal there and game is OVER. Instead they give the ball back to Wilson, who follows the script he always does against the purple losers.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
I have to say, I've really only watched one half of Vikings football intently this year (the first one) and the stress and annoyance levels are waaaaayyy down. Why spend four hours a week watching a team you know is going nowhere?

Re: Vikings 2020 season
If you have a juicy misdirection type play or a player who can make things happen if the play breaks down I can see going for it. If you’re just gonna run your backup RB into the line then kick a FG

Re: Vikings 2020 season
They took the lead late in the 4th quarter. He didn't call for the earlier 2-pt conversion, he didn't make the call to not kick the FG nor the play to try another run up the middle, he didn't give up the game-winning TD against.
Currently under construction.
Re: Vikings 2020 season

Zimmer is arguably too OLD to be an NFL head coach IMHO. And Kubiak appears over the hill too. That said, the D sucks & Cousins folds in big spots. He’s a boxscore, not a winner in clutch situations. Neither is anybody else on this team (at least in 2020) for that matter. Tank for Trevorstreakygopher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:33 pmAnother massive choke to Seattle. Zimmer 0-2 on critical calls. When you're in the spot the Vikings are in, you go for it. Fourth and inches on the 6 yard line? I've got no problem with going for the dagger. The Rube wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:20 pmSituational, though. Up 8, 2 minutes, 1 TO for the opposing team? That's a major factor.
If they're a team that was already in a playoff spot, sure go kick the FG and make them get 8 pts to tie. But when you need to rack up Ws to make the playoffs (which, had they squeaked this out, would not have been out of the question given what else is going on in the NFC this season)... I've got no problem trusting your offense. Seattle defense just made a great play.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Game is OVER? Ive watched our sports teams enough. SEA still goes down the field, gets the TD and the 2pt. Our offense does nothing, then we lose in OT. So if anything, not kicking the FG just gets me in bed earlier with the same result.streakygopher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:33 pmAnother massive choke to Seattle. Zimmer 0-2 on critical calls. Obviously I disagree. You NEED this win. So go by stats (in this case overrule due to point differential) and make it an assumed 8 pt deficit.Beauner wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:38 pmWhen you're in the spot the Vikings are in, you go for it. Re: Vikings 2020 season
He also didn’t drive his team down the field to win the game, Wilson did. Cousins is an exactly average QB. He makes the plays that are there but never makes a big play in a big spot or saves a play when it breaks down. He doesn’t make his teammates better. He doesn’t feel the pressure well or buy time to take pressure off the offensive line. He’s an average QB and always will be. The Vikings need to upgrade the position and shouldn’t have given him an extension.

Yes...Cook gets a first down there. All he had to do was bounce outside the tackle, there was a big hole, he would have scored.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Does it though? With our defense, I'd argue that the best chance of winning the game is a one-off play where we only have to gain one yard, against a pretty bad defense. The Rube wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:37 pmBad to mediocre team, you said so yourself, you put yourself in the best position to win. The momentum changed drastically in the 2nd half. So I'd go conventional wisdom, as much as I hate it.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over & expecting a different result. That’s the definition of this years Vikings team, they are mediocre & lack big spot swagger...exact opposite of Wilson & the SeaChickens in 2020. That said... I think I hate Wilson more than ARogBigbeer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:45 pmHe also didn’t drive his team down the field to win the game, Wilson did.

I have to disagree with Wilson (as a person). As a player, ok, you may have a point. Wilson is a stand up guy. ARodg is just a diva arsehole.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
I think all Minnesota sports fans should know by now that logic, odds, percentages, and luck do not work as they should when our teams are involved.

Wilson is infinitely more likable than Erin

Rodgers is smug when he beats us, Wilson is not.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
At the end of the game it looked like Cook was enjoying the loss, laughing, smiling, and chit chatting with the Seattle players - after getting humiliated and going to a season-ending 1-4 in the process.
This team has room for a couple of sore losers.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Wilson is a class act.
Cousins actually looked really sharp after throwing that dreadful interception. Not many people I'm sure thought the Vikings would come back the way they did. The offense caught fire and ran the crap out of the ball....until it mattered most and then couldn't get a couple inches. Ugh.

I told my wife that a healthy Cook would have gotten it.streakygopher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 11:07 pmThe offense caught fire and ran the crap out of the ball....until it mattered most and then couldn't get a couple inches. Ugh.

Yep. ATL, NYJ, and maybe NYG are waving right now, although the Giants would be a real dark horse. They'd trade the draft pick.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Read the above again. He helped them get the lead in the 4th quarter and put them in position to add to it late in the game. Other factors outside his control led to the loss.Bigbeer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11 10:45 pmHe also didn’t drive his team down the field to win the game...

What he said. There were some terrible coaching decisions this game.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
When the Vikings are bad they get that 7-9 pick. They’re never Cleveland bad. Unfortunately they’ve never drafted a QB like Rodgers or Wilson who are available later in the first round (or third in Wilson’s case) and have star potential.
I am 45 years old and Daunte Culpepper is the only QB I can remember drafting (11th) that had a remote chance of being great.

Because like the Minnesota Wild they think they can build the plane while it's in the air.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Especially costly considering the Diggs response. Hopefully Jefferson turns out better than Diggs.
We like our awful contracts in Minnesota.
Would one of my teams please avoid the paralyzing contracts?
