Re: Vikings 2020 season
And that is why a RB needs to pick up a blitzer, even on play action
Cousins also needed to spike it
An easy GB safety

This should be incomplete. His right foot was not on the ground when he got the ball and it landed OB. But apparently they aren't going to overturn it based on the angles we've seen so far.

Because rather than sit on the ball and take the ball after halftime down a score, they decided to try to score and turned it over?

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Vikings get two big gains via a run and throw down the seam to Rudolph, plus a penalty on GB. Bailey kicks a FG to at least get some kind of positivity back.

Where in the world was the free safety on that play? With 21 secnds to go in the half. Unacceptable.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Obviously it's the first game and only a half but lots of similarities in our Vikings offense to last year when we struggled. O line manhandled, Couisins minimal time to throw and minimal plays run.

I was kinda surprised they gave Kirk the ball with 30 seconds left in the first half. That seemed like a pretty big turning point when that went wrong.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
It looks like LaFleur has Zim's number. 3 games and is 3-0 vs him. All three games didn't feel that particularly close. Today looked like Zim played a college defense. A lot of off coverage out wide, giving Rodgers the ability to adjust easily to get guys open. They have plenty to work on this week. The young guys can only get better. Right?

Re: Vikings 2020 season
I thought the O-line was terrible, and the MN secondary needs serious help. The supposed great D that the Zim brings wasn't really there today. A couple key stops, but GB's O was relentless. There were more basic mistakes made on MN's side than GB's. Was it due to lack of pre-season? Can't say, but it was obvious that GB came to this game prepared, and MN notsomuch.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Yeah I think there’s some validity to the idea that the time of possession difference might result in the Vikings D being completely wiped. But the secondary got absolutely torched and idk the extent of turnover/injuries the D line has but they were mostly a non-factor which is something I’m not used to seeing from the Vikings.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
We know that ARodg has a major reputation of not being sacked, due to a combo of OLine and elusiveness. Credit due to where credit is deserved. MN didn't seem to adjust for that today. Nothing like "Ok, we won't get to ARodg, so let's shut down those other offense avenues."trixR4kids wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13 8:29 pmYeah I think there’s some validity to the idea that the time of possession difference might result in the Vikings D being completely wiped. Other than Smith and Harris, our secondary is essentially all rookies.trixR4kids wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13 8:29 pmYeah I think there’s some validity to the idea that the time of possession difference might result in the Vikings D being completely wiped. Hughes has 3 starts and Hill has 4. Gladney and Dantzler are both rookies.
Obviously Hughes and Hill have played more games but rarely more than just filling in for a stretch when Rhodes got burned....errr... "hurt" or when Rhodes/Waynes/Mack needed a breather.
This probably led to more of the "off coverage" rather than press coverage that we'd see more frequently with the other CBs. And Rodgers and Davante ate them alive with quick outs. Then they finally started pressing up a little more and they hit a couple deeper passes later in the game.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
I didn't watch the game but there seems to be conflicting opinions on the play of the OL vs. the play of Cousins. Maybe it's a 1a and 1b but certainly it sounded like Rodgers had all day to pick his spots and even if the coverage is decent he's going to throw receivers open if you give him enough time. Don't know if Cousins was afforded the same, if he held the ball too long, didn't look enough for secondary receivers...
Currently under construction.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
There was a stretch of about 5 or 6 plays, including the safety, where cousins was sacked 3 times. That can't all be blamed on the QB.Slap Shot wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14 8:23 amI didn't watch the game but there seems to be conflicting opinions on the play of the OL vs. the play of Cousins. But the overthrow followed by the interception (thrown waaaay behind Thielen) on consecutive plays CAN be blamed on the QB.

Good job addressing the Oline, Vikes. It's only been a problem now for 1/2 dozen years? It was mostly the Oline. Cousins is baked into the cake already. He hasn't been the problem.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Two out takes from yesterday. 1) Young Stud Ge LaFleur has outcoached crotchety old man Mike Zimmer 3 times now, a Bad trend for the Vikings. 2) the tag team of Bad Ole Miss & ARog is by far the best QB tandem any team has had during the past 3 decades (arguably over any 3 decade time span). That said, harvesting only 2 Lombardi trophy’s over 28 years to date...has been a net L for the Packers. ARog has more overall ability than Favre....but Brett was a better team leader & more beloved by his teammates. And finally when ARog is ON his game, the only QB in the NFL currently better than him...is his buddy Mahomey.

I agree. They've had HOF level QB play since the very early '90's. Only three trips and two wins is unacceptable by any measure. But, in fairness they did get the two wins.bearpaw28 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14 9:41 amNo, I’m saying only 2 Super Bowl rings over 28 years with that tandem of QB’s is a net LOSS for Packerr fans IMO. Re: Vikings 2020 season
Whats worse? Green Bay and their 2 superbowl wins over 28 years or Buffalo going 4 years in a row and not getting squat? Or you know, 4 losses in 10 years for a certain purple team.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
I watched the 1st quarter and spent the rest of the day doing yard work and listening to the Twins. My interest in the Vikings and the NFL in general has waned in recent years to the point that I may not watch at all going forward.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
Kirk couldn’t lead his receivers in the first half. Don’t understand that. O line wasn’t all to blame but they were 20% to blame. And that’s expected.
I was hoping to see Barr blitz and put pressure on Rodgers at least, he didn’t need to pound him into the turf but get him to hurry at least. Maybe he will at Lambo.

The answer to that question is too obvious to require further elaboration. Which leads me to believe YOU are a Packer fan and a sensitive one for that matter!00xtremeninja wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14 12:55 pmWhats worse? When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the country you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Re: Vikings 2020 season
End of Dickey era then Randy Wright and then Majik man. By the time Favre took over I had already chosen the Phins. My dad was thrilled it was any other team aside from the BearsThe Rube wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14 10:01 pmI'm guessing that was the Lynn Dickey era?00xtremeninja wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14 10:01 pmPackers were trash during my formative years.
