Has any other new franchise in any of the big four sports ever made the "final four" in two of its first three seasons?

Yeah but those days it was the Original 6 in one bracket vs the bracket of the 6 new expansion teams.

Vegas already has more playoff wins as an organisation than the MN Wild. So that’s fun. 28-27.

Honestly, one of the reasons I have a hard time rooting for Vegas is that the NHL pretty much handed them a playoff team in their inaugural season.YoungEagle wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09 11:18 amVegas already has more playoff wins as an organisation than the MN Wild. So that’s fun. 28-27.
Not that I'm letting Minnesota off the hook. The Wild was once Bettman's golden boy "model franchise." No longer. They have systematically devolved into a hapless collection of has-beens and never-will-bes.
Bad name, bad logo, bad colors, bad team.

Killing the 5 min major DQ in the first and then scoring late started it...NYI dominated the 1st and came out tied. Both goalies played very well but Vas will carry TB to the Cup playing like that. Hedman is a difference maker but imagine if TB had Stamkos.

Jr B. National Championship (Former CSHL)
2 Robie Cups in St Louis (NAHL)
1 Clark Cup and 1 Anderson Cup in Green Bay (USHL)
1 Calder Cup in Norfolk (AHL)
All he needs is a Stanley Cup and a Jack Adams.
I really wanted the Wild to hire him instead of Yeo. But had they done that, he probably would've bombed and never got another crack at an NHL head coaching gig.

I had a neighbor up at the lake who's middle son coached the Springfield Jr Blues & then the Janesville Jets in the NAHL. Too bad mom and dad lost their place because he and I used to have some great hockey talks.
Cooper really was better at Lacrosse than hockey as an athlete. Cooper does not have many of the boxes checked, so to speak, of a big time coach in any sport but is certainly successful.

Re: NHL 2019-20 season
I had the third period on at work, drove home during intermission, walked in and literally as I looked at the tv the ugly green team scored.
I’d love to see the islanders win now but that not gonna happen because I want it to. Go Tampa I guess!

Re: NHL 2019-20 season
What a comeback by the Stars last night, down 2-0 in the 3rd and rallying for 2 goals in the last 10 minutes, then won it in OT. It’s something we’ve never seen a Wild team do, especially in any recent playoff game.. I still think Tampa Lightning will hoist the Cup when all is said and done in the Edmonton bubble thou

Re: NHL 2019-20 season
Huge play by Anders Lee, perfect pass, nice finish by Eberle. More time for the Stars to rest. Evidently Shattinkirk actually fanned on a slap shot, Lee got control, banked it off the boards and skated around him.The fake shot and pass he made were perfect, Vasilevskiy had no chance to save it, it was a pretty game winning goal.

I’ll cheer for the Lightning if only because they touched the Prince of Wales trophy. What a dumb superstition to ignore it.
Re: NHL 2019-20 season
Islanders gave one hell of an effort and Varlamov played terrific, but Tampa was the quicker, deeper, more skilled, & experienced team with an excellent goalie to boot. I’m hoping for an exciting 7 games series until the end of September!Snowcool08 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17 10:20 pmI’ll cheer for the Lightning if only because they touched the Prince of Wales trophy. NBC also has Sunday night football. I'm guessing they didn't want a possible Stanley Cup clinching game on NBCSN while the rest of the country is watching football.

Re: NHL 2019-20 season
When you have Hedman, McDonough & Sergachev as the left D in all 3 pairing, it's difficult to score on the Lightning 5x5 especially when they stick to their defensive structure. All 3 are beasts physically & skilled players, Sergachev is a future #1 D on any team & McDonough would be a #1 D on nearly every team other than the Lightning. Combine that with a goalie playing like Vasilevskiy & beating Tampa 4 times is a huge challenge. And Tampa is missing one of their 3 best forwards in Stamkos (along with Kucherov & Point). But I really like the grit of this Dallas team, and if Tyler Seguin awakens offensively ( he hasn't scored a goal in a boatload of games & it's IMPERATIVE he awakes in game 3 to go along with the outstanding play of Benn, Radulav, Pavelski, Klingberg & Heskinen, then Dallas has a chance at winning this series in (likely) 7 games. If Seguin doesn't get it going, score some goals, create some assists, Lightning will win this series in 6 games.
