I don’t think it’s about how much of a bubble he wants. More so that will they actually be in a bubble? Will the workers be going home everyday? If so, it’s not a bubble and they’re making a sacrifice to be away from their families for nothing really.

How do you handle emergencies where you need to be with your family? Do you get quarantined and miss a round? Being that he had a big health scare with his wife this year, I could see it being extra hard for him to leave for an undetermined amount of time.

I’m not against or for this idea for the record. Pretty much neutral. Just seems like all options are varying degrees of bad for a number of those involved. I’m interested to read about how it all develops.
The irony in all of this is that all parties would be much better off if Dubnyk did just stay home. Everybody wins

If they do find a viable scenario for the 2020 playoffs, how does this impact the following season? I would imagine they'd have to push back the start - and then if so reduce the number of games so that the season can end on time next year?

The TC would have The X, Ridder and depending upon usage Target Center plus plenty of local rinks for practicing. I'd think the TC would be a no-brainer but that's my armchair quarterback opinion.
Currently under construction.

I think this is a big issue for the players and I don't sense it's necessarily about being put in a bubble. I think it's about the 'freedom' of not being in the bubble unless everyone around the game can be put in one. Also, I think the vote will be pretty close to just moving onto next year.

Totally agree that 'are varying degrees of bad.' When can plan out all the scenarios we want to plan, but until we get hit in the mouth... who knows what actually will happen.

My sense is that some players might have heard Russo ripping Blake Snell about saying he won't play a reduced season for reduced salary and got to him. Russo pretty much did a 180 on his takes between a couple podcast/radio appearances on his perspective and specualtion.

If this plan goes through, I believe the current idea is to start the next season in January and play a condensed regular season.

Not a bad place to live and play hockey...

The whole testing thing is insane. There are 150 different viruses in circulatation at any one time. If everyone was tested for them they would probably test positive for multiple viruses. And sometimes a partial strain will elicit a positive test.

Common sense is long gone.

If I somewhat understand what Russo said on the talk north podcast, the NHL doesn't want to just throw away this year since they have played so much of it so far. They also then plan to start next year around Jan 1, hoping they can play in front of some sort of arena crowd. I get the logic, but I just think it is going to be a struggle to get this thing started again in the next month or so.

My guess is deep down they know if they cancel this year, there is no way a new season could start with any normality for 2020-2021. So now you would have one lost season and a jacked up one.

I applaud them for trying to get this past one in the books as odd as it may come down to being.

Officially end the 2019-2020 season and at least try to start the next season without fans if necessary to keep it on schedule. IMHO.

I agree, although it’s hard for the players & owners to pass on the TV money...obviously that’s what’s driving this desperate attempt to finish the season. But I think they’d be better served, along with the fans, simply trying to start the 20-21 season on time. ☝️

They could potentially start 20-21 on time if they just decided 19-20 was over.

I highly, highly doubt it.

No fans is almost a certainty if they somehow started 20-21 on time. And who knows where travel and logistics will be at in just a few months. For all 32 teams traveling on a regular bases for a regular season around the country, it would be a long shot to pull it off in sept - dec, if not longer.

And if we are still at a point where everyone is being tested, even healthy people there is zero chance a players don’t “catch it.”

Again they are trying to get this year in because there is zero certainty next season isn’t highly impacted as well.

Not a lot of love or hate for Nordy in this poll on NHL mascots. Sorry, it's an athletic article so it's behind a paywall.

https://theathletic.com/1886125/2020/06 ... =twitterhq

I know as a 54 year old with no kids that I am not the target market for mascots but Nordy is easily my least favorite mascot in MN sports. His costume looks like it was made from leftovers of other costumes.

Yeah, Edmonton had a few through the 80s, and then the Habs in 93 were the last Canadian team to win the cup... around the same time the average NHL player today was born.

Pretty sure Patrick Roy raised the last cup won by a team North of the border. Have any been won in Canada more recently (by a visiting team)?

Bruins over Canucks in 2011

Unless you meant by a Canadian team.

So the intention still is to finish the "current" season instead of pulling their heads out of their asses and focusing solely on trying to complete 20-21?

They don't want to start the 20-21 season until fans can be in attendance.

The NBA is finishing, no? The MLB is starting and the NBA and NHL restarting all on almost identical dates. I doubt that is a coincidence.

I doubt they have their heads in their asses but rather are following the inside insight they are getting from health officials on the path that things will be taking the next 6-12 months.

I think it's a terrible, terrible idea to try and finish the current season with such a convoluted format in the middle of the current climate. "Inside insight" or the $$ bottom line? That's rhetorical.

Sounds like NHL Olympic participation is back under new CBA. Can’t wait to see the US roster. Will be fun to see Mcdavid/Crosby play together too.

Don’t mind the name. Logo is ok, colors are icky. But I’m very biased against red and green. IMHO the north stars colors are worse.

Arizona is always trying to 1 up Buffalo for worst NHL franchise.
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes issued the following statement today regarding John Chayka.

"John Chayka has quit as the General Manager and President of Hockey Operations of the Arizona Coyotes.

"The Club is disappointed in his actions and his timing as the Coyotes prepare to enter the NHL's hub city of Edmonton, where the team will begin post-season play for the first time since 2012. Chayka has chosen to quit on a strong and competitive team, a dedicated staff, and the Arizona Coyotes fans, the greatest fans in the NHL.

Hurricanes absolutely dominated the first and second periods, the officials gave the Rangers 7 PPs through 2. The Rangers came out flying for the third and then spent the last half of the period killing penalties.

The Wild will be in huge trouble if they have to try to kill 6-10 PP's a game.

I’m digging how the arenas in Edmonton and Toronto are set up. The video curtains are cool and the whole scene feels like a video game so I’m sure that crowd will like that. If this is what it takes for us to get a run for The Cup I’ll take it.

Wheeler and Tkachuk throw hands. Would have been so great to have Blake playing here at some point.

Get Parise, Zuccarello, and Koivu off the books and somehow find a way to get Blake as the new captain until he retires. Obviously that could only come from one of the biggest trades in the last 10 years probably.

That power play from Colorado at the end of the game was pretty great. Can’t get much more pressure than that.
