Have they got enough cap space to just eat Dubs contract and bring up one of the Iowa goalies?
Does it matter? 6 years before the dead weight times out.
This makes zero sense
Perfect sense. They're on the back side of the bell curve.
What is the dead weight?
Parise and Suter?
I assume that's what he's talking about, but Suter is still at the minimum a top 15 defenseman. Not sure how anyone could call him dead weight? Parise is certainly heading that way but I don't see how his contract can keep the Wild from doing anything positive in the next 6 years? Just more of Scooby saying something stupid for affect.

I'd at least give Greenway a chance to win back pucks below the goal line and establish himself in front of the net on the power play

I'd be calling up Mayhew to give him a month long shot with the NHL squad. Would have been nice to have him trade places with Donato.

Can't be any worse.

Lots of boos in Buffalo. Dumba had to leave, sounds like he is injured but don’t know what happened.

Sounds like Dumba is day to day.
Dubnyk absent with a “family situation”
Kahkonen called up from Iowa in an emergency situation.
Hope all is well for Dubnyk.

So the Avs have another one and the Wild have yet to draft a second one in their entire history?

Report on Dubnyk. If he wasn’t passing people’s eye test this sure backs it up. Awful probably doesn’t begin to explain it.

https://theathletic.com/1389992/2019/11 ... son-jones/

“Even though the eye test tells us that the Wild have committed some egregious mistakes in their own zone leading to goals, the analytics say the Wild have given up 2.51 expected goals per hour in all situations, which is fourth-best in the NHL. That’s very much in line with their defensive performance since Boudreau arrived in 2016.”

To think he has one of the easiest jobs in the league and he still is putting up abysmal numbers.

Yeah, we can dump on him all we want right now. He sucks. But, he was really good when he got here, and he got a market contract when he signed it. It's just another player that the Wild wasted while he was in his prime. Cause, yes, his prime happened while he was here.

Post had nothing to do with when he got here, nothing to do about his contract, nothing to do with his prime.

Had to do with his play and the team in 2019.

I just wanted to post that the Wild wasted yet another players career. It's a habit. They shouldn't have to be relying on Dubnyk by now. They should have the next one in line developed and ready to go. They don't.

Wasted career? You f*** serious? Outside of a couple of hot streaks, Dubnyk has never been much more than a league average goaltender.

Wasted career, that is actually pretty funny, even coming from you.

Because I know you know Dubnyk’s story and that he was one step away from being out of the league.

His stop in MN saved his career.

Posted a sub .900 in the AHL the year prior to coming to MN. And the Wild “wasted” his career

How did the Wild waste it?

There is enormous amounts of data out across many seasons.

And under two coaches Yeo and Boudreau it all says the Wild are one of the top teams defensively year after year and that Dubnyk at his best was an average goaltender.

Wild lose on first shot of OT again. Never touch the puck.

At some point it can't always be on the goalie. This team SUCKS.

The penalty Hartmann took in the offensive zone with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd period...was totally UNACCEPTABLE 🤬 He’s a veteran NHL player. How can he be so freaking STUPID!...I mean a 2nd year Bantam player knows you can’t take that type of penalty while protecting a one goal lead with 3 minutes to go. JFC 🙄 If I was Bruce, Hartmann would be a healthy scratch next game.

Surprised they even called that on Hartmann. Then again, you are in NY so maybe I shouldn't be-- but you are right-- anything marginal would be called against the Wild in that situation, no matter how much mugging was going the other way.

I am a Donato fan, so I was happy to see him get a huge goal there. This team needs more guys unafraid to shoot the puck. Go figure what happens when he does.

Agree...Suter got his ass burned by a younger player, Dumba had to protect for the pass and the guy beat Stalock with a nice shot.

Suter Gave that guy the center of the ice and he blew right by him. Great shot. You can’t blame Stalock on that one.
Suter gave the Dman to Ek and Ek skated away from him.

Fiala is playing great hockey. Total turn around from early in the year. Dumba playing better. Not running around trying to do to much. Great shot by Donato.

Just have to close things out when you have the lead.

Yeah, that happened too. Bruce seems to have no answers on who to put out in OT. EE inexperience in 3x3 OT showed there. But Suter didn’t make a good play either on the losing goal☝️

Hardly a good goal given up by Stalock. Possibly by his standards but not an NHL Starter.

3 on 3 is man on man. Ek had Panarin. Suter went to Panerin and got caught out of position.

Per Corey Pronman article - GREAT News 🙄 Players Questionable to Make Their (World Juniors) Team:

Matthew Boldy (Minnesota): Boldy’s start to the season has been concerning with one point in 11 games, raising questions about his stock and whether he will make the World Junior team, especially since his summer camp wasn’t amazing. It’s a weird situation because he’s third on his team in shots, he gets plenty of ice time so he’s not in the coach’s doghouse at all and in games I’ve seen he’s involved in plenty of chances. He seems utterly snake bitten at the moment. “Things aren’t completely going my way right now,” said Boldy in late October, “that’s hockey, I’m sure once I get one I’m sure they’ll start going in, I’m making chances happen and hoping more go in soon.” With that said, if we get to the USA camp and he’s sitting on one or two points, even with his amazing talent, track record and great U18 worlds, it’s going to be a really tough call for Team USA.

4 out of 6 points on the road trip. I’ll take it.
Suter with a nice bounce back game. I thought all the Wild dmen were good.
Eks line had 5 blocked shots.

Sounds like the issue is Dubnyk's wife's health, not the kids. Still crappy, obviously. He's not certain he's comfortable leaving her alone with the kids on the upcoming road trip.

Wild about to be .500, points in 8 straight games. Playing very well at home and road schedule will be half over around game 30.

Fiala leading the way for the youngsters, all seem to be playing pretty well right now. Even Rask is playing pretty solid.

Overpaid and Turkey of the year candidate Parise is on pace for 35 goals after doing next to nothing the first part of the season.

Hate to agree with you and tank, but I have to. But, maybe one of their "non" NHL Goaltenders can get hot at the right time? It's been known to happen.

Today would've been a great chance to throw Kahkonen out again and see if you can't catch lightning in a bottle. Instead he goes with the real AHL'er. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I get why you would keep going to Dubnyk hoping that he might get back to the form that he's been at a few times for the Wild. But, it makes zero sense to play Stalock over Kahkonen.

I can only think he is getting a shot against Dallas at least I hope that’s the reason behind it.

Stalock is brutal. He easily could have let in 5 or 6 today flopping around back there. 2 off the pipe from the perimeter and no traffic. Narrative would have been how bad everyone is. Fortunately the pucks stayed out for today.

Kahkonen should've been slated to play both games if things went well. Letting the rookie build some confidence against the worst team in the NHL should've been a no-brainer. Brodin had more quality saves today than Stalock.

Stalock is starting again today. So, either they do not believe in catching lightning in a bottle or they think the two goalies they have on the top of the ticket are good enough.

Wild survive 3 on 3 for the first time this year! Not positive but I don't think either Koivu or Suter saw the ice 3 on 3. They played smart when they had the puck keeping possession and not taking long shifts. Smart giving the 3 best skating d-men the ice in OT.

Wild only two points out of a playoff spot if Vancouver loses tonight.

Fiala, Koivu, Brodin, and Parise with great games.
Stalock was good early and not so good late. Hopefully the Finn kid gets a game on the road trip.

I think we don't have to worry about having Babcock being the next Wild coach.
Chelios believes petty displays of power are one of Babcock’s signature moves.

“What he did to [Mike] Modano was incredibly disrespectful, what he did recently to [Jason] Spezza in Toronto. Those are the things that are so unnecessary,” Chelios said.

Modano joined Babcock’s Red Wings at the age of 40 in a last ditch effort to earn himself a second ring. But as he approached the remarkable milestone of 1,500 games played in the NHL, the coach healthy-scratched him for a late-season game against the Minnesota Wild, leaving him with 1,499 for his career.

I hadn't realized until now that Babcock was related to my high school football coach. He was certainly one of the worst human beings I ever met.

His hand is broken. And, that's the injury they did not need. When it looked finally like my list was hitting on all cylinders (just when it started to happen) they get the injury that screws it up.

This team never escapes the injury bug. Never.

Such a shame as it is actually a great place to watch a hockey game. Between periods you can buy a cigar and a beer and walk outside (in your shorts) and enjoy the weather properly. They seem to have plenty of outside areas to loiter, God bless them.
