In six games, Staal has no goals, one assist and 10 shots. Parise has two goals, although one deflected off his butt and the other was an empty-netter, no assists and 10 shots. Mikko Koivu has no goals, two assists and 14 shots. Injured Mats Zuccarello has no points in four games.

Yes. The Vet Report Card is an F.
The kids Report Card is an F.
The injury Report card is about a B right now.
Goaltending is getting about a D.

So, nothing that needed to happen this season is happening. Unless you're going for more ping pong balls in the lottery.

This quote is so Dubs “On the ensuing power play, what could have been a 2-2 game had Donato scored became a 3-1 deficit when Andreas Johnsson took advantage of the type of fluky goal that only seems to happen to Dubnyk. Marner’s shot kissed the crossbar, smacked against the endzone glass and ricocheted over Dubnyk and in front of him. Johnsson batted the puck out of mid-air for the two-goal lead”

Goaltending threw 6 games: C, C, D, F, A, D....yeah, about a D is correct☝️

It's all about ping pong balls now. We're stuck with Spurgeon, Parise, Suter, and Zucc with their long term deals. Hopefully they can turnover the rest of the roster and carry that dead weight around with them.

If the Wild decide to tear it down and rebuild. Dumba is your best trade asset. You actually might get value in a trade.
Just don't see them getting faster. The Wild pretty much have to play a perfect game to win. Leipold and Guerin watched last nights game together. They have to see what everyone else can see. They have to be talking about rebuilding.

Why sign Zucc and Spurgeon to long term deals if you're rebuilding? Makes zero sense

Spurgeon made sense, although I agree we overpaid (kind of were forced into it though). The Zucc signing at least (the term) never made much sense to me, Hopefully he gets back in the lineup soon though.

It's a rebuild if the young guys pan out. If they don't, oh boy, this could be a long stretch of bad hockey. I have my doubts about the quality of the young players.

It's obvious by now that the Wild will win nothing with Parise, Suter and Koivu. None of the pieces once thought to be building blocks for the future ever panned out to little more than a "barely" playoff squad. (And, they've been nothing but cannon fodder for real playoff teams.)

They may end up regressing to their mediocre mean, but how did the club get so bad so fast?

It's 5 or 6 games into the season, and it feels like it's over.

They had their chances, I would say they were a little better than "Barely" a playoff team.

2013-14, and 2014-15 got beat by the hawks in the 2nd round.
2015-16 could've been great, but Dubnyk didn't play well in the playoffs.
Then in 2016-17 we finally get a respectable playoff performance form Dubnyk and the entire forward group forgets who to score goals.

This team could never put it all together at the same time. If Dubnyk was playing well, scoring was an issue. If they scored a bunch defense and/or Dubnyk went in the tank.

I'll take Quitting for Quinton as well... a 6'4" center with 16 points in 7 OHL games is a good start. At the Hlinka U17 he had 3g-2a, not bad.

It started 2 years ago. Fenton just chose to skip a few seasons and torpedo the team quickly.

The problem with a team that can't win is that it blows a massive hole in my t.v. hockey viewing over a long and cruel winter. If they have zero chance at a playoff berth, I won't even check the schedule. Cue the "you're not a true fan" accusations. :)

They are just a frustrating team to watch. I have spent many hours watching losing teams play because you can see that potential. With this team, there is very little of that.

I've bet the money line against the Wild every game so far this season. That's about the only thing that's keeping me interested.

Give Erickson-Ek some time on the PP. He deserves it for blocking 3 Weber blasts in one shift.
Take Staal off the PP because he is a -10 and is playing like $hit.

Even the Montreal fans are horribly bored with their opponent.

The home game next week might be a morgue.

This could be a historically bad team/season. If Guerin wants to have a "Tear-down, overhaul, rebuild, success" story on his resume, he certainly couldn't find a more needy place to start.

Your final FSN score from Montreal:

Habs - 4 goals
Wild - 3 blocked shots

Don't get me wrong, the blocked shots were impressive but.....

This year could be an opportunity for the Gophers to regain some of the hockey fans that get sick of the Wild getting embarrassed game after game. Hopefully the Gophs can exceed expectations and capitalize.

I’m in AZ playing 36 holes of golf every day for 5 days. In October, it’s fantastic.

How many adults back home are crying about the Wild?

Go find a post that was over the top about the team prospect this season. No Crazy division predictions, playoffs, etc.

When you don’t cry constantly these days it’s considered over the top optimistic. Especially on Twitter verse, message board.

It’s all about who can cry the loudest and make the most noise.

On a side note Coyle and Nino are sucking and they are on good teams!

I’m a little surprised ya had the energy to write all that...after playing 36 holes. 😉 Up until recently, I was willing to give Fiala the benefit of the doubt (being only 22 years old). But this dude (Fiala) just keeps f—king up, game after game after game (when he isn’t scratched). To end up with only a player like him (the way he’s played) since being acquired (for Granlund EVEN UP)....is literally beginning to rival the Nino for Rask fiasco ☝️

They should scratch him, I heard the team looked real solid without him!

I haven’t caught much hockey this week but I saw now Zucker thinks he can call out the coach now?

Not gonna lie, excited for him to get moved. Hopefully Guerin can orchestrate a solid deal. This would be the time to do it.

Maybe Bill waits until he is very confident Kaprizov is coming over. I believe he is headed over there soon.

I thought this team would be professional and play hard enough to battle for a playoff spot. :shrug_no:

All the talk in the off-season about how Guerin didn't believe that the locker room was as bad as he thought... well maybe it wasn't as bad as he thought, maybe it's worse.

Haven't heard much talk of Dumba scoring 30 goals lately. One goal. One assist and -9 (2nd to Staal's -10). Caught down low twice on PP last night for 2 on 1's against. Yes the guy has a great shot. Defensively a train wreck, running around way to much.

This is the biggest problem. Not only are the slow old players playing bad, but the semi-young vets that should be able to play up to speed are playing like crap as well.

DoooBs was our guy. Scouting report.

Talent Analysis

Above all, Dubnyk possesses the one great talent no coach can teach: size. At 6'5.5 Dubnyk gives very little of the net up to opposition shooters with his hulking size. Very strong positioning and great rebound control are two other strong characteristics of Dubnyk's play in the net. Consistency is an issue and Dubnyk, despite taking up as much of the net as he does, still has a tendency to let in a soft goal and can get visually shaken by it. Mental maturity will help overcome that flaw.

Leipold thought was neat when the fans yelled doooobs though.

The goalie for the Wild is the easiest job in the NHL. He was never going to be more than a backup or 3rd string anywhere else.

Not anymore. When the Wild were good defensively this was true. This year they are awful.

I saw about 3 minutes of the game, including Fiala's half a$$ attempt to swat a puck from behind the net while Staal was skating in a big circle inside the blue line. Staal apparently was the only one surprised by the result.

I'd like to know what Koivu said to the team. None of the veterans are playing worth crap - including him.

The older guys on this team will be pay check players this season.
