This page gives a lot of the necessary details. Gates to the CGD set open at 5am. Tailgate lots around the stadium open at 6am. Oof, it's gonna be a long day.

Kudos to the U for trying to do everything right by fans - opening the tailgate lots early, getting good communication out, etc. I've been impressed by the department under Coyle.

Was listening to PJ on KFAN over lunch. I never want him to leave. This football program is in great hands and this season is just the beginning.

4:30 a.m. start local time. Decided I'll hit up a local joint rather than watch from home.

Everyone that will be anywhere in the area whether at TCF or watching somewhere nearby, be safe and have fun. Pour one out for me when we win!!!

Agreed. Never been happier to be wrong in my whole life! Hell my girlfriend, who cares very little for Sports or the Gophers (and lest we forget why he is the coach at this point), loves him and everything he stands for. She was so impressed by his first PC I swear SHE would run through a brick wall for him.

According to Doogie (so 50/50 ;) ) The Rose, Fiesta and Orange Bowl will be in attendance. Rose and Orange makes sense but Fiesta is a CFP game so why the heck would they be here?

Because they've already been to Tuscaloosa, Clemson, and Columbus 1,934 times and just need a change of scenery at this point.

I've been watching football alone in my home for years. In 20 years of marriage, I could probably count on my two hands how often my wife has sat down to watch with me. From the Maryland game on, my wife has been telling me what time the game is, what channel it is on and clearing our calendar to watch. I've tried to watch tape delayed (hate all the damn commercials and stoppages) and have been told that is not acceptable.

I got a bear hug after the PSU game.

I'm so confused...

btw - I searched "Minnesota Wisconsin" on twitter and found a tweet from a Huskers fan living in Minnesota and it's amazing how many snowflakes are out there whining about "new" Gophers fans. I am sure there are quite a few bandwagon fans being vocal now, but you'd think new Gophers fans are the only ones that have ever talked trash. ffs I worked with more than enough Sconnies over the years and the number of many times they talked crap when the Gophers and Vikings embarrassed themselves never ended. I am not there so I can't speak to it but our fans have never experienced anything like this and we never will again insomuch as this is like getting married for the first time and going on a honeymoon. You can ever do that the 1st time ever again. We're going to enjoy it and if you can't accept that, suck it.

That's a good question. Maybe they get first choice of which game to host? But, I can't see how it would matter. Even if the Gophers make it to the CFP (I don't really expect this, but it's not completely out of the question) the CFP semi-finals are going to be fine regardless of which matchup is which game.

It’s still crazy that all the analysts on ESPN agree that Minnesota controls their own destiny. Win out and they have as good an argument as any to make the CFP. I’m good with just beating Becky this weekend, but there’s still opportunities there.

Only one lower than they were after the PSU win. Take care of business on Saturday and they're in perfect position. They stay head of the rest of the B1G in the CFP rankings, have a shot at the #4 spot if they beat OSU and are essentially in the Rose Bowl if they don't. Just win Saturday.

As for weather, if you're a SPEED Offensive Passing game, weather will hurt. If you're a route-running team, you will beat them with schemes and angles (short routes, etc), weather will not really matter a whole lot. It will affect, but not necessarily damage.

Edit: The Greatest Show On Turf? That is something weather would affect.

Wind DOES hurt the passing game.....alot.
Quick slants are the ticket & a DB slip is a long gain.
The TE/Wingback position was very active in the NW game. If they did not go in motion they seemed to run to that / strong side. If they went in motion there was a kickout / trap block off a counter behind them. I'm thinking that there is play action in the mix to the TE after intentionally missing the kickout.
I have been very impressed with #88, Brevyn Spann Ford's blocking. For a kid who was a WR at SC Tech he has added a LOT of muscle and is just destroying people.
Good job Brev!
I HATE :censored: RED! I'm now developing a strong dislike to green also.

I’ve been telling friends this since about game #4 or 5. His improvement throughout the season is amazing. Unsung hero of the run game for sure.

Last year he would get hooked up and stay engaged keeping his feet moving. It was a very small body of work since he didn't have his RS year burned; clean up duty at the end of games.
Last week against NW he totally collapsed the right side of the NW D at the end of the game when a 1st down was needed to kill the clock.
I have a granddaughter who was a class mate & her brother was a soph. on the Tech BB team with him
A 1st rate young man who had mid-major BB programs interested in him. He has always wanted to be a Gopher.

On the plus side, that passing game is where the Gophers excel at just eating up defenses. Add in the rushing game, and I think the Gophers should be OK here.

tOSU is #1 in the CFB...if they stay undefeated and we beat them (in this scenario) then that would be a better win than most of the teams in the Top 15. Add in 2 other wins versus Top 15 teams (and only loss being against a Top 20 team) and the resume destroys whoever the Pac12 or Big XII crowns their champion. Unless Georgia beats LSU in the SEC Title Game the Gophs would be virtual locks. I know people would be clamoring for Bama (assuming they beat Auburn) but I dont see the CFB keeping out the Big Ten, the Big XII and the Pac 12 (all of whom would likely have 1 loss) to put in a second SEC team whose resume stinks. The Big Ten has way too much money and clout for that to happen. Hell a stupid move like that would probably cause the rules to change...

The amount of money I would lose in Vegas over Christmas betting on the Gophs in the playoffs would be bad. I vow never to emotionally hedge the Gophers if they make the playoffs!

That said...just beat Wisconsin! As someone said on Ghole...we could lose 100-0 the rest of the way just win Saturday so we keep the Axe, win the West outright and go to the Rose Bowl. (most likely) In future years I will worry about winning the BT Title and the Bowl Game...right now anything beyond win #11 is gravy :dup:

edit: I just got a friggin lump in my throat saying "Win #11". God that is crazy to me. Some senior classes were lucky to win that much in their career back in the day. ;)

Quick slants are the ticket & a DB slip is a long gain.
On the plus side, that passing game is where the Gophers excel at just eating up defenses. Add in the rushing game, and I think the Gophers should be OK here.

Well, I gave in and booked a hotel reservation in Tampa and Pasadena. Will try to go to whatever bowl game the Gophers get, so may as well be prepared.
This year by magical alinement we are in Pasadena for New Years. A very good friend who lives there has invited us for years to come out for the Rose parade. So LAST January I booked a lovely B&B and plane tickets thinking it would just be a nice warm NYE. He got us parade tickets, right at the turn across from the TV cameras and floor tickets for the float decorating site. Now with the possibility of the Gophers being out there I told my husband, I don't care what it costs, we're going to the game. ROW THE F'ING BOAT!!!

You should be able to call them up in advance so the seat back is installed when you arrive.

If this isn’t currently an option, someone at the U isn’t trying hard enough.

I get the feeling that the majority of people sitting in the bleachers will be standing for most of the game (similar to the PSU game?)

Maybe so, we are row 1 in 221. My wife has back issues so when she would take the time to sit she would prefer to have some sort of back support rather than none

I did a little, but I was in the front row of the upper deck, so I was able to sit and lean over. I did spend most of the game on my feet, but seating was nice to have. Especially timeouts, halftime, etc (I didn't have a seatback, just a folded blanket/throw over the bench.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't an option for an individual game. It's an option for season ticket holders and I believe the deadline to add the seatback is sometime in the summer. But, it's worth calling the ticket office to confirm. You can get seat backs that you can carry in that will help, but won't be as nice as the ones that are installed.

I remember at the PSU game, they had some rentals. As I recall, about 1/3 of the way around, entering by Goldy's locker room. No idea what section

They have kiosks in the concourse to rent them for $10 each. There are 2 or 3 around the bowl.

If they are anything like what Lambeau has they just hook under the bleacher, takes all of 1 second to slide on. Unless the ticket holders have something else that's fancy

i read stuff like that when i was searching google, i would be interested to see how they bolt in because most seatbacks are just two rods and a piece of fabric.

Looked like slide on with a couple hand adjustable clamps to hold it in place.

At least your picker has a connection to your team. I am still perplexed why they chose to use Eric Church in Ames earlier this season, absolutely zero connection to the state or either team. I know...I know...who cares about Iowa. But really though, Decker is a great choice.

After Brock, then a huge gap, then maybe Bud Grant, Decker is probably the third choice I can think of. Mostly because our WRs are monsters right now so it's a good fit.
