They really are a fun team to watch. Never lose composure, even when the opponent reels off several points.

All 4 teams from the middle of the country. When I was playing and closely following Vball in the mid-late 70s the west coast dominated. Then a couple outliers crept in as OSU won the men's NCAA and then Texas in women's. There were good players from MN as we had all-Americans playing at USC in women's and Pepperdine in men's. I got to watch them and even play against them at times in summer pick-up games at the U as they were at a completely different level than the rest of the top players. But the top teams were all west coast then, not it's swung to the middle of the country.

Texas just got away with a pretty blatant rules violation. Girl reached way across the net to tip the ball down.

This Texas team looks to be a much tougher matchup than anyone the Gophers have faced so far in the tournament.

Texas won set one 26-24. Gophers currently leading 19-18 in the second set.

Teams that have won the first set have won 75% of matches in the Final Four.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think at this level, at least indoor volleyball, one ace/set is probably about average.
The NCAA record book here says that the season record for aces/set is 1.882 and the career record for aces/set is 1.227/set. Both records were in the early 2000s.

I went to a lot of my school's volleyball games in college and don't vividly remember anybody getting a significant number of aces either. The girls are just too fast, too athletic, and too smart to see a ton of them anymore, especially when there are 6 players on the floor.

It's really too bad that she was hurt past year/Amanda Zahoui B. turned pro before this year. Those two together would have been incredibly tough to stop.

The baseball team is making me happy thus far. 20-10, 5-1 in the B1G. Big seven run eighth inning to come back and beat Maryland 9-5 last night. Think I'm gonna go to a game or two this spring.

Not if they keep this up. RPI is 20th in nation. That's damn near hosting 1st round terratory.

Team slash line of .324/.390/.458.
Opponent slash line of .234/.329/.324.

I'm not gonna pretend to be a hardcore Gopher baseball fan but I watched all those regional games for the Gophers and I agree, it still hurts.

Minnesota about to fall to NDSU...very bad loss for Minnesota and they looked awful throughout. Absolutely pitiful effort defensively. If that's even remotely close to a top 25 team in college baseball the gap between the top 10 and the rest must be astronomical.

It's a mid-week game against a non-conference opponent. They aren't using most of their top guys.
3 of their top 5 hitters aren't in the lineup. Their 5 hitter had 16 at-bats going into the game and their 2 hitter had 20 at bats.
The guys who have given up 6 of the 7 runs in the game have thrown a combined 27 innings all season. They aren't guys who are going to be pitching in meaningful games unless it is mop-up duty.

With meaningful games @ Illinois this weekend they aren't going to use their good pitchers against a non-conference opponent in a mid-week game.

True, but at the same time NDSU is not a good team at all. I think the defensive effort was more of a problem than the offense. Although the offense wasn't good, the defense is what lost them the game.

Baseball went scorched earth on Kansas tonight. 19-7 with 23 hits. 9 were for extra bases, four were home runs.

Edit: It was also Anderson's 1,200th win. Wow.

Series against Indiana this weekend is a big one.

I had to click the link and check the replies to find out this is for basketball. But I still don't know if it's men's or women's.

I bet they can make more money on commercials if they show nothing but commercials.
