I am surprised they are playing so many games vs NL with a 60 game schedule.

10% of their games are against Milwaukee alone. Is this purely to keep play/travel regional?
Yes, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's 40 games with AL Central and 20 with NL Central.
Which is part off why the city or Toronto didn't allow the Blue Jays to play in Toronto. They didn't want people traveling from FL to Canada given Florida's current COVID outbreak, and they would have played the Marlins and Rays quite a few times.
Also why other teams declined as well, especially Pittsburgh with them being in the central.

Getting a bit concerned about the starting rotation that is down to 2 of our regular starters. Hope Jake O will be back soon.

Not sure sure why you pitch to him there with first base open. Maybe the Pittsburgh coach isn’t familiar with Cruz....

Probably a combination of telling Burdi to keep everything out of the zone (first two pitches were out and Cruz chased one-he obviously missed the spot on the pitch Cruz mashed) and not trusting him to not walk in the winning run with nowhere to put the on deck hitter (either Sano or maybe if they PH Rosario).
Either way, I'd rather not pitch to Cruz in that scenario and take my chances with one of the two free swingers and Burdi's slider

It is very enjoyable seeing the reactions of hitters who are not used to playing against him when he makes a play like that (and makes it look like a lazy fly ball). Out of the box that guy is thinking easy double, maybe triple. He starts rounding 1B and sees Buxton is going to make the play with ease and his heart just sinks. 🤣

Great play and wow do I love that top. I have to consider looking into having one shipped here if the price isn't gross.

The shame is they would show the zoomed in slow motion of the actual catch. The really impressive part is how perfectly placed that ball was in the bap, the speed of the ball, and how far Buxton had to come. This is an instance where slow motion was worthless.

I can't think of any other franchises that have had the lineage of great defensive Center Fielders as we've had the last 35 years. Denard Span was probably the "worst" in that group and I thought he was still very good in CF. He just had to follow Kirby and Torii

Not a huge deal if it is retroactive. Just adds another body to the roster. Hopefully he will be back sooner than later.

Tough loss tonight. They mentioned that MN went 14-5 over KC last year, which isn't really THAT great, considering. Just slumping right now.

Not a huge deal if it is retroactive. Just adds another body to the roster. Hopefully he will be back sooner than later.
The troubling part about this is his history of calf injuries. He missed a month and a half in 2017 and about 3/4ths of a season in 2018 due to various calf injuries. Hopefully this is a much shorter term deal but it's not necessarily great news to hear it's "only a calf strain"

I think road games are going to be tough this year. Regardless of where they’re at. Teams are sequestered to a hotel and can’t (shouldn’t) leave. It will be tiring very quickly.

Berrios has talent, no doubt, but he's a 5 or 6 inning pitcher and a long way from elite status. A team needs their staff "ace" to stomp out a slumps or win their starts in post season. I'm waiting for Berrios to take that next step. I hate to say it, but when the playoffs come around and Berrios is matched up with the opponent's number 1 or 2, I have little confidence in our guy.

The whole team is just out of sync and has really stumbled these past 4 games. Today they faced a rookie who last season they probably would have chased off the mound after a couple innings.

I hadn’t thought of that. I know when I travel alone for business I get mighty bored when I am not working. These guys aren’t alone but not sure how much they can mingle at the hotel.

Crazy how on that foul ball at regular speed it looked like Yelich dropped it but in slow motion it looked like a definite catch

Nice stop to the slide.
Dobnak has been absolutely phenomenal in the bigs dating back to last season. It has been fun to watch.

I’m aware I’m coming from a place of frustration but has there been a player who’s missed this many games with “calf” issues? WTF?

These teams are well matched, too bad there’s no fans there as these games are usually 50/50

Ump totally changed the momentum of the game in the 6th inning. Twins with two on and no outs when Kepler is called out on 3 straight balls out of the strike zone. It should have been bases loaded with nobody out when Polanco comes up. At that point he would be looking to get a ball out of the infield, but even with his ground ball to second, the Twins get a run home and still have a guy on base with 2 outs and the inning is still alive.

The team suddenly is looking really crappy. A couple guys are going, but the "bomba squad" is looking pretty tapped out.

He had a 2.94 ERA with 79 Ks in 64 innings last year. Those are pretty good numbers for a 6-7-8th inning guy 🤷‍♂️

He has freakishly large calves. Not sure if that hinders recovery time on them or not but for a guy who generates as much power from his lower half as he does in his swing, I'd guess he puts a lot of strain on them.

Why do analysts still go with the "Hit the ball on the ground" crap?
Literally every pitcher in baseball breathes a sigh of relief when guys hit the ball on the ground. Hell, listen to chatter from the dugout and you'll hear some variation of "Hey get us a ground ball here" about 15 times a game.
