In the playoffs, it's always pitching.
Not this series it's not
That's why the Twins have scored 5 runs +! Their batting was better than the NYY pitching! Duh, so obvious. Just bad luck.

Where was the big hit with baserunners? Solo shot doesn't do much in this game.

Yankees all series have been loose, aggressive and confident. Lots of laughs and high fives in the dugout. It has not even occurred to them that they could lose this series.

Compared to last season, I'll take it in a heartbeat. But now we have a window. USE IT. SPEND. PLEASE. I'll even abide by the cliche, win a title, you have 5 years of no worries, no matter how bad the team is. Just get it done.

It will be interesting on what the Twins will do to fill out the rotation next year. Hope they resign Ordorizzi, but the rest is up in the air. Maybe trade an asset for pitching. Bullpen should be ok, and hope they resign Romo as well.

Same old twins 1st round vs Yankees. Same outcome as 2009,10, and it continues. It would be nice to have pitching power like they do but get them before the Yankees want them. Pitching that’s developing and not having to pay it yet. Who wants to or who can outspend the Yankees?

Resign Odo, Graterol to the rotation, bring back Pineda if he'll come back cheap-ish. Or back up the brinks truck for Cole.
Trade Rosario and prospects for a SP.

Berrios-Graterol-Odo-Pineda/pitcher X from trade-pitcher Y
Dobnak, Stashak, etc. all in AAA and have shown to be effective at the big league level so far.

I'd expect they make an offer to bring back Romo also.

The Twins had a fantastic regular season! It’s just such a bummer that this series is how this year’s team will be remembered by many. Even one win against the Yankees would have been nice.
It stings for sure. A little more each year that this happens.

I’m not sure who I will cheer for now, but I can assure you it will be anyone but the Yankees. 😂

I’ll still enjoy the baseball playoffs, and thankfully there’s hockey to fill the gap until next season.

I hope the Bomba Squad is back next season!

You need a Didi voodoo doll instead
I’m on it for next year. I’ll get a whole yankees team of voodoo dolls.
I'll get you a gift card to joanns or hobby lobby to help you purchase your materials
Ha ha I can’t sew....but this needs to happen somehow. 😆

Most will be back. I bet we will lose Cron, Castro, and Schoop from the offense side and possibly an outfielder traded for pitching. It was a magical year, and was fun having a team to cheer for until October. Sad it ended tonight. Believe it or not, the sun will come up tomorrow.

Yankees are way better than the Twins, plain & simple & they've proved it every which way (you can). That said, ya gotta walk before you run....the Twins did have a fantastic regular season! 👍👍👍

Poor Rocco, now he knows.
Does he? I just heard his post-game press conference on the radio and I'm not even sure if the Twins lost anymore. "I'm so proud of this team. They played so great. I hope they walk out of here with their heads held high" like it was the T-ball team's end-of-season banquet. One team was just happy to be here through and through and one team came to win a championship. That's it, that's the whole series.

So much for my $50 parlay for the Twins, Vikings, and Gophers Football to win it all this year. I would've treated us all to a week-long bender @ Vegas.

Really. Tell the truth. Couldn’t hit. Couldn’t pitch. Made errors. I made some real questionable pitching decisions and deserve part of the blame.

Exactly! No one expected them to do as well as they did this year. If you would have told me that they were going to win over 100 games, win the division, and set the MLB record for home runs, I would have laughed in your face.

Yes, it's disappointing they got swept. but I enjoyed the season nonetheless.

We will all overreact to the ALDS loss given our history over the past several years, especially with the Yankees, and how the season came in like a lion and seemed to exit with a whimper.

Overall, this team out performed. I fully expected the team to finish 2nd or 3rd to the Indians and possibly the White Sox. I certainly did not expect 100 wins. Even after our fantabulous May, I said 95-97 wins. In a week, this will look like an exceptional season and I hope the Twins are committed to building on it by signing / retaining key talent and finding some real legitimate starting pitching. And, I hope Berrios can find his game again during the offseason.

Instead of extending a fantastic season for one more day, the 2019 Twins’ ride ended with their 16th consecutive postseason loss, a defeat that ties the franchise with the 1975-79 Chicago Blackhawks for the longest playoff losing streak ever among the four major pro sports.
https://theathletic.com/1276561/2019/10 ... y-yankees/

I think that was the last one. We own all the playoff losing records in baseball now.

Meanwhile.

After Monday’s 5-1 Yankees win to complete the series sweep, Minnesota has now lost 16 straight playoff games (13 of them to the Yankees), easily an MLB record and tying the 1975–1979 Chicago Blackhawks for the most consecutive postseason losses in major North American sports.

Those Blackhawks, you can kind of understand; they weren’t very good, and the NHL was and is set up so not-very-good teams make the playoffs. (In the ‘70s, 12 teams made the postseason in an 18-team league).

Mark Rosen said it aptly on the Power Trip this morning. The table is set for the Twins, now it’s up to Jim Pohlad...to step up to the plate (like a big boy owner) and either spend some serious money on pitching...OR...get out of the business of owning a MLB team. They have a whole offseason to make some moves...no excuses this time (like at the trade deadline). Get Er Done...alert the media, there is no SALARY cap in baseball ⚾️

First 100 win team to get swept or something along those lines too.

I think it comes down to the payroll. Look at the tops teams and we are what 19th, IIRC. We need to spend some money to compete or will just continue to have similar years.

Because it's so difficult to watch regular season games sadly for me this season will mostly be remembered for the playoff losses because it's the only time all year I watched 3 games in a row. I paid attention though as much as I could and I checked highlights regularly, but damn if this doesn't leave a sour taste for me. This town needs a post-season run for Parise sake.
Currently under construction.

MN sports have only advanced in the playoffs five times in 15 years.
That'll become 4 times if the Vikings don't advance this year.

Loserville
Lead us out of Loserville, Bob.
104 big four seasons with no finals appearance
Times advanced in playoffs last 15 seasons: Vikings 3, Wild 2, Twins 0, Wolves 0
1967 last football conference title, 1982 last basketball conference title, 2003 last hockey national championship

I love that so many people here can ONLY focus on all the negative and have to be a Debbie downer about everything. Constantly. Yeah, we get it. We as Minnesota sports fans have been disappointed. A lot. For many years. But it’s not our fault as fans, and in the end it is still just a game. A game, and a team, that a lot of us will still enjoy and support through through thick and thin. If you are that upset by sports, stop paying attention or being a fan.

The Twins had one helluva season despite the ending, and we shouldn’t lose sight of that. We had a new manager and he did a phenomenal job with the team he had to work with. Yeah, pitching is our Achilles heel, and hopefully the last three games of our season will convince the powers that be to sack up.

As long as they're not blinded by the 4 runs we scored over 3 games and overlook pitching which was the long-term issue all season. That bats went silent at the wrong time and can't become the narrative (other than it's ironic that our strength became our undoing).

Arraez is the best thing about this season. That guy can hit baseballs and he can do it in all sorts of situations. Hard to say who I like more between Arraez and Cruz. I know our days are numbered with Cruz. I look forward to many great years watching Arraez.

I haven't heard anything about Buxton lately. I hope he understands the importance of staying healthy and not every out is worth foll-on collisions.

The team has a good group of hitters. Cave can find another team.

If the owners don't pony up for pitching in the off-season, they can bow out of MLB and buy the Timberwolves.

I am curious what the Sano haters think now that the season is over? Yes, he had a Mauer-like post season (who didn't), but he had surpris people who gave up on him early on.

Coaching staff.....Bravo. Damn fine first year.

Pitchers? I don't have anything good to say so I'll just stop now.

It’s Groundhog Day. I worked for the Pohlad family for a number of years. It’s not likely to happen. That said, I love the Twins and continue to follow them the way I do Northwestern. I hope to compete and enjoy overcoming the obstacles inherent in each institution.

If I thought “we” got it, I wouldn’t have bothered. Northwestern has been successful, unless you want to consider National Championships the benchmark. The point is, with their academic standards and the Pohlad’s owning the Twins, I don’t have expectations of being the best team in the sport.

Northwestern is a GREAT academic school, and fields generally competitive athletic teams, I agree. But you can’t lump a school with a legitimate handicap in getting elite athletes (who aren’t gifted students ) on to their teams...with a pro sports team that has won 2 World Series (with the same family owning the team) but now CHOOSE not to spend the money necessary to win a 3rd title. The Twins pursuit of a championship is Self Handicapped...plain & simple. And saying you’ve lowered expectations because of this, yeah, I can see your point of view, (being a former family employee) who likely has better insight into their motivations than us (other) rubes
