If the Twins can finish .500 (6-6) then Cleveland would have to win out (12-0).
The Twins only need finish 7-5 to not rely on a Cleveland loss (which they obviously won't win out).
Magic number is 8, right?

Thought berrios threw a really good game. I know he's not an "ace" right now. He developing on schedule for me (23 yrs old?, 24?). This team doesn't have an "ace" and it seems to work. On Houston he'd be the 4 or even 5. That's ok, this team is built to win 8-6.

Down the line I see them buying an ace. And if berrios keeps progressing it will be us with a stable of horses

For this year and hopefully postseason we have what we have. I'm glad they didn't mortgage the future for what was available. This winter there will be a chance to spend some dough on some stud pitching

Are you new here?

Every December or January, without checking, I come on here just to jokingly ask of the Twins have signed any big free agent starters. I know they haven't despite not checking, because they're the Twins. Every now and then they strike gold on an aging slugger like Cruz or Thome, but that's about it.

I get the history of the franchise...all I can say is if falvine asked the pohlads for a dump truck full for a young verlander type that would be a fixture and bring them over the top I think they'd spend it...my opinion, nothing to base it on...they did for baby Jesus... just sayin

This year has been way more than a pleasant surprise and however it finishes it's been an awesome season and with the core we have there's no reason this isn't real for awhile...the pickups have basically all been a huge factor (Cruz, cron, schoop, Perez, Gonzalez) and arraez has been a huge homegrown surprise earlier than anyone could have guessed...pretty cool

I'm hopeful they see an open window and throw some $$$ at it starting this winter

Of course for the Twins to trade for a young Verlander type, that player has to exist. Who would you even think we could get? Regardless of the cost.

Gosh, I'd pay a few bucks for proposed FA pitchers garret cole, Strasbourg, wheeler, chapman, Kenley Jansen, mad bum, probably in that order on how much...I'm sure there will be a few more as we get to winter...this list might not all be young, but they sure COULD potentially have a verlander type impact

He's been phenomenal. I believe he has all 30 HRs as a catcher too. None as a DH/1B or whatever. Which I believe I heard yesterday would lead the league for HRs as a catcher (while playing catcher).

CHW looks like the Bomba squad tonight.

At least we hit more HR than the NYY did tonight. Silver linings.

I think it’s safe to go to bed. The only thing worse than the Twins at home is extra innings at home. Looks like they will be getting loss #6 in a row in extras at home. This will be an unfortunate loss.

Oh yeah, and how much fun is this friggin baseball team? Hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am. I don't need them to win it all to be satisfied, yet they still have as good a chance as anyone. The characters on the team just keep getting better...reminds me of 87 (yes I'm old enough to say I went to 5 games of the 87 series, do the math on that BTW)...So many storylines made the story compelling, same this year

Tough top of the first for Garcia, the White Sox leadoff hitter.
Starts out well with a base hit but it goes downhill fast; first he gets tagged a little south of the midsection on a pickoff attempt and later gets thrown out trying to steal second.

The White Sox are doing a bullpen game. They just changed pitchers with two outs in the third. At least have the decency to make the guy throw a whole inning until it gets tight later.

Twins Magic Number stuck at 7 with 10 games to go.
3 hits on the night against the Sox bullpen and Cleveland gets the win in 10 vs. Detroit.

3 game lead after tomorrow would not be a good look...

Saw the Twins lose against the Sox and the Giolito gem of Aug. 21. Saw a three-hit loss tonight. Only two games I made this season. Woof.

Why no Gonzalez tonight? Still no Kepler?

Kepler is still trying to heal his upper body injury that he aggravated a few days after coming back from being off a few days . Gonzalez looked like he tweaked his injury during a swing on Tuesday, but stayed in the game. I'm guessing they are going to be very careful with those 2 players, and try to limit Cron as well. Would be nice to get the division wrapped up soon so they can rest more players.

I figured they were injured or recovering but didn't hear the broadcast.

Suddenly the Twins finding they need to keep the pedal down as they enter the last handful of games. Disappointing they got three hits against a platooning bullpen in a game Odor pitched well enough to win.

I gotta have schoop hit there, that's what we got him for...love everything rocco has done, maybe overthought that one
Schoop has some odd stats;

Schoop is 2nd lowest on the team, driving in only 11% of his runners on base (Castro last at 10%)
2nd highest out of zone swing rate at 42% (behind Rosario at 45%)
2nd highest swing rate at 59.1% (behind Rosario at 59.6%)
5th lowest WPA at -0.80 (was the lowest about 6 weeks ago)
Schoop was 0-8 with the bases loaded.

I was fine with the move. While he has been a little better lately, schoop hasn't done well in high-leverage situations overall. I am not saying you have to agree with me either, just giving my reasons why it didn't really bother me.

Yup. A total pet peeve of mine. Batters who are so confident in their contact they feel the need to stand and watch. I don't care if it's clearly exiting the ballpark onto the street I think it's stupid and arrogant. Would have been nice to have a runner on 3rd instead of an out in last night's game.

Eddie Rosario has got to be one of the dumbest players in the league. I can't believe I'm typing this but Reusse is right. Fans need to stop chanting his name when he's hitting because he tries to hit 600 foot homers and makes stupid base running mistakes. Getting thrown out at third last night is indefensible.

He should be fined. It's one thing to make a bad decision, but hustling is a fundamental, not an option.

If I were the coach I’d bench him. Like Puig last week (whom I despise), it’s lazy, arrogant and does not send a good message to the youth who watch these players and look up to/emulate them.

I get to go to the game tonight. I’ll do my best to get us a win - I have a winning record in games this year (n of 1 😆). But they hit a lot of Bombas that day. 🤞🏻

We just didn't need third base with 2 out...not for that risk anyway...he's a guy that you cringe and cheer in the same game...

Win 7 of 10 and Cleve can win em all and it doesn't matter...each win we get makes it harder and harder for them...

Probably a good time for the good Gibson tonight...

Yep - not happening. They’re just better off starting Dobnak and Smeltzer at this

Apparently the pitcher Montgomery was a bit frustrated about that one.
