Do we try to scratch and claw? Or do we eat the loss and not "waste" our better pitchers
If we goose egg the 7th, eat the loss.
How about we don’t give up with two + innings left and hit some bombas and get back in this thing!

Just saying leave in the pitchers we have. Still try, don't get me wrong, but don't waste a fresh arm.

We all knew the pitching might not be up to snuff, and the series is already starting that way. Not a good outing out from the staff "ace," and the bullpen has a Chernobyl inning where they load the bases without a hit. Then you have Rosario, Garver and Cron just look lost at the plate. They aren't even challenging the pitcher - that's three gaping holes in the lineup tonight.

Rocco didn't seem too intimidated by the Yankees, but his team does. I have a bad feeling this series will pretty much go like the regular season. It won't matter how many runs the Twins score; the Yankees will score more.

Really? He might not be the best pitcher right now. But how is he a p***y?

Unless you giving him a compliment calling him one of the strongest, stretchiest muscles in the body...

When he does throw the ball over the plate, he gets crushed. Just doesn't have good enough stuff. He knows it too.

Rocco made the right decision. This game was over, so toss Gibby to the lions, instead of wasting a good arm in a failing attempt at winning this game.

Twins are going to need one of the rookie pitchers to step up. Can't pitch Duffey, Romo, May, Rogers every game.
You can when your bullpen is rested. Why would you bring 2 rookies into a playoff game in Yankee Stadium .
Rookie mistake I guess.

Still trying to figure out why Baldelli would bring in a rookie pitcher in as the first guy out of the bullpen. Duffy should have started the inning with the bullpen fully rested in that situation. Then he brings a second rookie in the next inning.
You would think that In the playoffs you would use your best arms to win and not save them for some point later. If your lack of bullpen depth is going to bite you in the arse somewhere down the road, then so be it. Winning game 1 in New York would have been huge with the history of this series and I think give the Twins their best shot of winning the series.

Yankmees were who they are, we weren't quite, game 1 to them...

This team has been resilient all year, I expect a better performance today...dobnak for as long as he's effective then all hands on deck

Arraez was clearly hobbled and that cost us on 2 plays for sure (short bloop over his glove and the double play throw that still should have been caught by cron), but he got a big hit and has to play em all going forward for us to have a chance

I give cron a pass on the one he should have had, he's been EXCELLENT on low throws all year and saved A LOT of errors...just a bad time for his 1 bad play

I got a goooooood feeling about today, that's all I'm going to say...and if we do it's on to target field and game on

The lack of good starting pitching haunts the Twins. After Berrios & Odorizzi they don’t have much. Losing Pineda didn’t help. When you get in the playoffs you have to have solid experienced pitching.

100% Baldelli screwed things up. Berrios had only thrown 88 pitches and had only given up three runs because his defense gave the Yankees five outs in the third inning. I'll take my chances with my best pitcher in that situation every time over hoping for a bridge inning out of Zack Littell to set up the back of the bullpen. It was kind of funny in the post-game press conferences to see Baldelli get a free pass for losing the game with a dumb managing decision, and then Boone comes out and gets roasted by the NY media for leaving Paxton in to pitch to Polanco.

The other issue I have is that if one of the Twins excuses for not getting more pitching help at the trade deadline was because they had Graterol, why is he not pitching until after they wave the white flag with Gibson? I mean, I know what the reason is, but it's still frustrating to see it play out.

I agree, Berrios probably had his best inning in the 4th and should have been given a chance to pitch at least the 5th.

I sure the decision was made from some analytical chart.

But if he goes out there and walks the bases full or allows a crooked number, everyone asks why he was allowed to go back out...

Berrios showed earlier he pitched better on that extra day of rest. So do you want him going 100+ and potentially sucking wind in game 4? Or do you take him out "early" and hope he stays a little fresher for Game 4 because he didn't over-pitch last night.

I get why people are frustrated, but people were going to be frustrated either way with the result that ended up happening. I can see why Rocco did what he did.

Our Offense, Defense, Starting pitchers AND bullpen were going to have to be good to beat the Yankees if they didn't screw up. Well, they didn't really screw up and we had the Cron error, and our Bullpen imploded and issued way too many walks.

We need better defense and a better bullpen tonight. We are also going to need to put up a crooked number, and score more than 4 runs to win a game in this series.

Saying game 4 like it's a likely thing for Twins baseball lol

People may have, I would not be one of them. IMHO you have to ride your best pitcher to as close to the 7th as possible.

Totally agree, this team is built to win 8-6ish...we throw and kick the ball around a little and pitch it mediocre at best...3 run bombas make for amazing makeup...

Folks, we don't have an "ace" and until we buy one that's what this team is...keep swinging boys...

I'm still good with not paying the ridiculous prices for anyone that was available this year...Kimbrel for 3 years for Lewis and kiriloff, no thanks...kuechel, nope...grienke at 36 (I may be off a year or 2)...nope...better crop this winter...I still say back up the dump truck for Cole...graterol is coming as a starter next year is my guess...balazovic and durhan are close as well

Yes, probably the chart that shows Berrios falling apart around pitch 100 many times this past season.

I'll take Jose Berrios' chances to get those three outs in that situation over Zack Littell's chances every. single. time. If it doesn't work out with Berrios, so be it. You took your chances with your best player and he just didn't have enough. Instead, they lost the game with what, their 9th or 10th best pitcher? Trying to look ahead to Game 4 is definitely putting the cart before the horse.

MSP has the big four sports and D1 teams for each of those sports, too. Though overall D1 hockey is by far the smallest of the eight, Gopher hockey is the only one that has brought a title since 1991 let alone even made a final.

They are by far the most likely to bring the next title to the TC. Hopefully within five years.

That team's season "starts" tomorrow. Tough to be too upset about the Twins season ending in this round as expected for months.
