Stunned by the sweep considering it was a bullpen day. But I did say they needed a big bomba day :D

With the double header sweep the Twins are now 50-24 on the road. We don't need no stinkin' Target Field. :biggrin2:

You would think you have to go for the dagger tomorrow and play everyone who is able. Looks like Kepler is still hurting, so maybe give him the day off.

That's unreal...if they do make the tourney they'll need the road magic vs astros and/or yankmees...

Massive gut check by the Twins today. Wonderful to see them finally putting their foot on Cleveland's throat. Complete the sweep tomorrow and crush their windpipe.

With the doubleheader sweep today, if the Twins go 7-6 over their last 13 (1 vs. Cleveland, 12 vs. Chicago/Detroit/KC) then Cleveland would have to go 13-1 to catch up.
A win tomorrow would essentially mean Cleveland can't lose the rest of the season. Cleveland has 3 vs Detroit, 3 vs Chicago, 3 vs the Nationals, and 3 vs the Phillies. Washington and the Phillies are both in hot pursuit of wildcard spots.

These two wins today were unexpected. After the rainout last night, it seems the team was a little pissed. Glad we took care of business ourselves instead of waiting for someone else to beat Cleveland.

Graterol officially hit 101.9 mph tonight. That’s some serious heat.

You don't need to be on PEDs to hit a hanging changeup over the fence. He made one bad pitch and a guy who has been a good hitter for his entire life capitalized on it.

I was hoping Palonco would foul one off sharply toward a long haired pitcher in the Cleveland bullpen to, you know, rattle his cage some. :)

And Cleveland answers back with 4 (so far) in bottom 6 including a 3 run HR off Kyle Gibson who came out of the bullpen.

I'll cut him a little slack because this is not his traditional spot. Coming in out of the bullpen with runners on is a totally different spot for a SP.

Won 2 of 3 & really only needed to win 1 of 3, so the Division is clearly the Twins.

Then why take PEDs?

How do we know for certain last year was the first try vs simply the first time he tested positive?

Even if last year was the one and only time he tried PEDs one could say he wouldn’t be as good of a player this year if he hadn’t taken PEDs last year.

Clevinger takes a shot at Polanco for his previous PED use, Stay classy Cleveland.

He’s not wrong.
I mean.... He isn't right either.

You don't need to be on PEDs to hit a hanging changeup over the fence. He made one bad pitch and a guy who has been a good hitter for his entire life capitalized on it.

How would something he tested positive for in February or March of 2018, and has apparently been clean of since he's been tested multiple times since then, impact what he's doing in September of 2019? That's not really how steroids work. That's why the MLB has an 80 game suspension - to get the effects of the PEDs out of the system.

As for it being his first time: It's not like Stanozolol (the drug that he got popped for) is a new designer steroid that they can't test for. It's been around for 30+ years. It's not easy to mask and super easy to detect. I'd hope that if Polanco was really trying to cheat he'd be smarter than using that one. IIRC the MLB a couple years ago was trying to investigate why so many tests were popping for Stanozolol (maybe 2015-2016?) because it's just not a very common PED for guys who are trying to get away with it. Not sure if anything ever came of their investigation. I know it's actually used to treat medical conditions these days too but I believe Jorge said something along the lines of taking a B12 and Iron supplement in the Dominican and thinking what's what got him (obviously no way to know if it's true or just a CYA excuse).

Unless your argument is that he spent all 80 games of his suspension doing nothing but taking batting practice and studying film. Then, sure?

Either way, it seems like more of an irritated/frustrated answer to a question than anything else because his team got shutout by a bullpen day in a game where he threw a gem.

If he was taking it to build muscle then as of March of 2018 he started with more muscle mass than he would have otherwise had without steroids. It's not as if that muscle disappeared. He gave himself an advantage that he could maintain or build on without the use of steroids.

That said, it's not as if we're talking about Bonds, McGuire or Sosa. But the muscle doesn't pee out with the steroids.

That's not really how steroids work though. Many testimonies of users say that as soon as they stop using they lose a lot of their gains. Hence the reason many people get hooked.

Funny! I’ve thought this whole time Graterol sounds like some kind of drug.

Arraez is hitting .344 which is 10th best in MLB for a rookie in the past 100 seasons with at least 300 plate appearances (and won't win the rookie of the year/Alvarez astros)...wow

Looking at really good seasons like that not winning the ROY isn't that uncommon. Still a crazy year.

Gosh, long term an infield of sano, polanco, Lewis/Gordon and arraez sounds good...put sano at first and good to go. Maybe convert krilloff/larnach to 1b...or trade for a verlander type

Nice finish, even with the HR given up in the top of the 9th. Getting close to the point that they can start resting some players for a game or two and not impact anything, but still get them enough time on the field to stay fresh.

16 swinging strikes tonight. That’s a great sign.

Well since I'm going on Friday, how about 3-0 the next three days, Cleveland somehow goes 0-3. Then Cleveland loses the 6pm game and I see the Twins clinch haha.

Slightly less then a 1.00 WHIP? Yeah, I'd say that's good starting pitching.

Berrios has serious talent and is learning how to pitch. I hope he continues his progress into the postseason. Amazing patience has been granted Sano, let’s give a smidge of that patience to Jose. 😛

If the Twins can finish .500 (6-6) then Cleveland would have to win out (12-0).
The Twins only need finish 7-5 to not rely on a Cleveland loss (which they obviously won't win out).
