The exchange with Bremer asking Morneau if he had the Peanuts comics in Canada growing up and Morneau’s comeback was awesome

Dick had no clue Charles Shultz drew a lot of hockey strips let alone that he played and built a rink in CA.

So when Dick asked if they had the Peanuts comic strip in Canada Morneau said, yep, we had everything even indoor plumbing....

Or something like that. Morneau basically said "Bless your heart" to Dick.

Morneau is busting me up....this time someone in the crowd was holding up a sign saying they were from Staples, MN. Bremer exclaimed “hey I went to high school in Staples!” and Morneau replied “is it still there?”

Yankees with 3-HR through 8-innings in game #1 of today.

I'd say the record is as good as gone, especially with the lineup were trotting out there the last few days.

With the triage ward that is operating out of the Twins' clubhouse at this point, I'll be thrilled if they can hang on and just make the post-season.

Ya that's over. 100 wins is most likely over, too.

Division title is the goal for the rest of the year and playoffs.
Lead us out of Loserville, Bob.
104 big four seasons with no finals appearance
Times advanced in playoffs last 15 seasons: Vikings 3, Wild 2, Twins 0, Wolves 0
1967 last football conference title, 1982 last basketball conference title, 2003 last hockey national championship

We’ve been spoiled all year, but this lineup now is painful to watch.

Spoiled? Hardly. We deserved it. And we don't deserve this torture of it coming to an injury halt.

Current Twins Lineup:

Garver - C
Arraez - LF (?!?)
Cruz - DH (doesnt look 100%)
Rosario - RF
Cron - 1B
Astudillo - 3B
Schoop - 2B
Torreyes - SS
LaMarre - CF

That, uh, itsnt really a Bomba Squad... Who the F are some of those guys?

We are missing almost the entire starting lineup - Buxton, Gonzalez, Polanco, Sano, Kepler...

Even Cave and Adrianza are missing. In hindsight, depending how long these guys are out, it might be a good thing we didn't give up a ton to get pitching. If this is the playoff lineup; we will be a wildcard and go out fairly quick.

Adrianza was hurt on a swing in the 2nd inning or so.

Another garbage outing by Gibson, another injury and another blow out loss at Target field against a good team. Oof.

Not exactly playoff ready as the wheels are coming off at the exact wrong time...Kepler, Cron, Sano, Cave, Gonzalaz, Adrianza all out along with Diet Pill Mike and Buxton out for the season. As Minnesota fans we expect late season implosions, but this one is Vikings like in its epic collapse.

Cron might as well be injured; he's lost up there at the plate. This team right now has the look of a losing team with late season call ups. These past two games have been hard to watch.

Cron has been hard to watch for 2 months now. I was done with Schoop, but he seems to be a little better lately.

Rosario on the other hand... swings out of his shoes at everything, even pitches 12" out of the zone.

I still cant believe that we are the worst hitting team in the league with bases loaded.

Before I panic, are these all long term injuries?

After the Cleveland series the schedule is very nice. The Twins need to take one of three in Cleveland.

2 chances with bases loaded. Cruz with a K, and Polanco (PH) with a K. Lots of swings at pitches out of the zone.

We continue to be the WORST team in baseball with bases loaded - by a wide margin.

From what I've gathered: Sano Kepler and Cave are all near returns. I have no idea what the prognosis is on Marwin but he's been out for a while with an oblique injury.

And Cron had a big wrap on his thumb at the plate. Likely only playing because everyone else is hurt.

It sounds like Adrianza could be out a while. He's not traveling to Cleveland. Will stay home for testing.

At least there's this

The Twins aren't going to catch the Yankees or Astros to become the #1 or #2 seed in the AL so the only goal is to hold on to the division lead. Whether that's by 6 games or 0.5 games, it doesn't matter. Then bring in some healthy and rested guys for the playoffs.

Probably a good time to play these guys on the road...they typically draw 0 so no real home field for them...we seem to rake there. Win a game and everything is cool...sounds like we get some guys back tonight/over the weekend. Get in the tourney (preferably as division champ) and you never know what can happen

Oh yeah, and I didn't realize there would be math?

If it’s half a game, they will have to make it up. It obviously would not be meaningless. Winning the game would tie and lead to a game 163.

Boy, today could be rough. Rocco says it will be 18 innings of bullpen today. Can only hope to somehow split with Clevinger pitching one of the Cleveland games unless the Bomba Squad somehow finds their grove again.

It won’t be .5 games.
It could be. Could be an apocalypse on the last day of the season before whoever plays last plays 5 innings.

Kepler gets a lead off double and the 2,3 and 4 hitters can’t even make contact.
Rosario batting .091 the past week with one RBI.

Well that's a win so today is a wash at worst. So who will pitch later?

The pitchers come up huge pitching a five hit shutout with no extra base hits given up.

With the expanded September rosters the Twins currently have 19 pitchers on the team. With Michael Pineda suspended and not designating somebody as a starter to replace him in the rotation they are going with 4 starters and 15 relief pitchers. Even if none of the 5 relief pitchers who pitched the first game pitch again tonight they will have 10 relief pitchers to use so it will likely be a game like the afternoon game where Johnny Wholestaff pitches.

Pretty sure Odorizzi wouldn’t explode if they needed him to “open” and pitch a couple innings.

The way he "opened" last night, I'm not so sure that's such a great plan.
I have GOT to stop saying "How stupid can you get"

They have 15 relief pitchers on the roster. They should be able to make it work since they got through the game earlier only using 5 of them. I'm assuming Thorpe or Dobnak pitch 2-3 innings like Smeltzer did and they go from there.

Winning the first game is huge though. They're 3 up in the loss column at worst when they leave and have the much easier schedule coming home.

This may be a dumb question. Which game is the makeup for yesterday - and why did they start over, I thought last nights game was several innings in. What’s the rules on picking up where you left off vs. starting over?

Early game was the makeup. Don't know the rules but I'm guessing it had to do with being tied and we were only in the 3rd, maybe just started the 4th.

First game is the makeup. if the game is tied You need to complete 5 innings or you just start over.

Thanks! If I knew that at some point in my life I guess I forgot.
So another dumb question - do the hits/HR stats etc. count?

Yesterdays rain out stats do not count. It's the tv show Dallas, when Bobby Ewing died and then showed up in the shower the next year. They just pretended the year before never happened. :D

So here’s an even dumber question.

When Lindor hits a home run does he do the truffle shuffle?

The next Twins pitcher better hit Mercado in the ribs.

Also, I don't usually second guess Rocco, but no way he should have had Thorpe pitch the 4th.

This Cleveland pitcher looks like he really has to pee every time he sets up. What crazy delivery.
