I could see Cleveland trying to trade Carrasco or Kipnis but trading Bauer and Lindor would signal a complete rebuild. They have enough young talent on this team to contend next year if this year ends up being a bust for them.
They won't be able to keep either much longer anyway due to their contracts. This year was the last year of that window and as soon as it looks like they're out of it, they'll blow it up.

It looks like this team is good. The division is there for the taking. Time to sign Kimbrel.

Aren’t the Yankees pretty much all on the DL?

Oops. DL was finally deemed not PC. I guess it’s the IL now.

Yes they've had some significant injuries so far but none of the key guys are long-term injuries I don't think except the Severino injury. And maybe Ellsbury, though with that outfield I dunno how big a key he really is when they're all healthy.

But it is helpful if those key guys aren’t playing when the Twins are in town. We’ll take any advantage we can get!

The Twins had the best record in baseball in 2010? In September of 2010?

That was the first year of TF right? I seem to remember we had one good year in the new digs before it all went to $h!t.

Correct.
IIRC they were like 90-60 and then lost like 8 straight in the last couple weeks to finish as the 3 seed in the AL.

So I'm only a casual observer and fan of the Twins so if the real fans could chime in here. A month into the season and the Twins are much improved over last season at this point or probably any point last season. How much credit do you lay at Rocco's feet for how the team is performing? My laymen's point of view is that a new voice has helped and has reached some of the players but I think some of the way he is approaching games is helping as well. Also I really like how well Rocco interviews after games, he has reinvigorated my fandom so far this season.

I think he's definitely more in tune with how the game is analyzed and played now. This probably makes it easier for him to connect and motivate young players.

I think Rocco is connecting to the players extremely well. They also hired a Latin American coach to help relate to some of the latin American players (something I begged the team to do 4-5 years ago) and brought in Nelson Cruz to create kind of a perfect leadership spot for him with some of the ESL guys on the team.

More than just Rocco though, the organization is fully buying in to the additional data and analysis that they have access to for pitching and hitting, incorporating that information and using it to adjust their approach at the plate/on the mound and their mechanics.
Adding guys like Cruz and Schoop, getting a good start from Buxton and great start from Polanco, plus Cron etc. all obviously helps but it seems like there is a great clubhouse mix right now between coaches, players, and "stat nerds" that has really helped most players take a step forward.

Sano went 4-4 with a HR yesterday. Moving to AA for the weekend. Target date of return to MLB is May 12th.

Not sure why this mention triggered this specific HHH memory for me, but I recall being at a game against the Angels my senior year in high school. Sitting on the 3rd base line the roof tore on the right field side where it meets the building. Water was pouring in, lights and speakers rocked back and forth, etc. However it was not bad enough to cancel the game and in Twins-like fashion they gave up a late lead (Ron Davis?) and lost.
Currently under construction.

I have two vivid memories in the Metrodome.

One was David Ortiz blasting a ball off the center field speakers. What was probably the hardest hit ball in that place was a ground rule double. Red Sox didn't like it.

The other was watching the Royals win us the division on the jumbotron.

Game 163 against Detroit in extras. I’ve never heard anything that loud before.

Also, in batting practice, A-Rod hit an opposite field HR to right field that hit the tarps covering the extra seats and I swear the ball was still rising.

But wait, If that is the case then we have to give the GM credit and we just don't do that around here.

I was there and helped get people tossed. Those tools sucked and should have been banned from Twins games for life.

And why is everyone making a big deal about a series in NY in early May. If the Twins lose 2/3 it means exactly the same as say losing 2/3 at Houston.

Twins lose a tough one in NY today.
Still, going 4-3 in a week with 4 games against Houston and 3 games @ NY is an awfully nice week.

Saw a stat that 16 of the 32 games the team has played this season have had temps that failed to reach 55 (or something like that).

Gibson is slowly returning to form from last season. He lost almost 30lbs right around spring training due to E Coli. For a guy who is already kind of a string bean to lose that much weight, it's going to impact him early in the year as he gets his weight back.

I'm not worried about Gibby. He'll be fine. Pineda looks shaky, but he's coming off of Tommy John surgery, so I'd be inclined to give him some extra time to figure it out too.

Another shutout win. This team is good. And fun. Starters have posted a 1.40 ERA this month.

Why is only 1 game listed? They have more than that and I see no $5 tickets for those games...

(it is probably operator error but want to confirm)

I'm looking at a screen showing 5 dollar tickets. I just don't want to create an account just to check.

Yeah, they removed the games that sold out of the seats. Originally had some for the Brewers and when I got confirmation, they were gone. Picked up some for Monday's game in 332. No service fees, which was nice.

For some reason, I thought tickets were free for 2 and under, but it says 30" on the website. Has anyone brought a kid where they actually measured? I am sure our 2 year old is right around there.

They didn't measure ours, but he was only 8 weeks old. Obviously small enough to meet the requirement.

Not only is the lineup the best in baseball, and the top 3 starters are dominant...now Gibby has magically morphed into Sandy Koufax.

Back in the Dome they used to do cheap games like this all the time. (even after the Knothole Games promotion ended) In 2001 and 2002 my buddy and I must have gone to 10-20 games in the early months because you could RF seats so cheap.

I love how the announcers mention how many scoreless innings have been pitched by the Twins and the next batter goes yard....

They did everything but mention the no hitter in the 5th inning.

My buddies and I went to so many games for like $6 back at the dome. It was great.

Gibson with a gem, 6 innings and 11 Ks.
Jorge Polanco with 5 hits tonight. Toronto had 9 hits in the series IIRC.

I thought I remembered Puckett doing this in '87 on 2 consecutive days in Milwaukee, but upon further research he didn't get 5 hits in each game. He went 10-for-11, but he had 4 hits in one game, and 6 hits the next.

EDIT: They weren't just singles either. He hit 2 HR's in the first game, and 2 HR's and 2 doubles (4 RBI) in the second game.

Marwin Gonzalez just got kneed right in the center of the head by Niko Goodrum on a throw Goodrum had to jump for as Marwin EAS crossing the base.

Did not look good but he seems to be doing OK. He's leaving the game (likely to be checked for concussion).

Twins hit 2 HR’s last night. They are on pace to hit 300. Last year they hit a total of 166.
