I believe he has currently missed 35 games and has 28 RBIs.

He's coming back in 2112, he's currently with the Priests in the Temple of Syrinx.

I know you don't like any joking around with your Twinks but that was a serious question. It would make for a good bet.

It's just a tired act, the " I focus on one player I hate on a team ". I know women like you, I pull the same sh*t on them. :biggrin2:

My last two Joe comments of recent were pretty legit, 1) when does he come back? 2) a fun trivia question. Each time I also used a fun nick name for him! And go figure each time you are the first to reply!

So with these women you know, do you let them run all over you as well? :biggrin2:

Just to clarify 6 million per win is in 2014 dollars and not 2007 dollars. IDK what the price per 1 WAR was back then. If I had to guess it was between 4 and 5 million and the Angels broke even on that contract.

He has a pretty good shot at a 50/50 season, 50 missed, 50 knocked in.

I was going to say if he misses 10 more I would take the missed games over the RBIs.

So basically he's getting paid like a 1 WAR player which over the last few years he's more or less averaged out to. Not horrible but you'd much rather get prospects for him if possible.

Bushwood Gopher wrote:Torii Hunter left here because the Twins were unwilling to budge on term. Dollar amount per year was not the issue--he came on Barreiro's show about a second after the ink dried on his contract and said he wanted to stay here and would've signed for less money per year but he wasn't going to stay for a three year deal. So it wasn't going to be a $90M investment to keep him here, it was probably somewhere in the 4/60 or 5/75 range. Most likely the latter.

It was a mistake letting him walk at the time and an even bigger one in hindsight. I'm sure his independent streak and the fact that he had the temerity to call out some of the other vets on the team when he felt it was warranted made his departure all the more inevitable. #twinsway

And they pretty much knew they weren't going to re-sign him and let him go for nothing. And 7 years later at age 39 the guy would still be the best outfielder on the team. Yeah, the Twins handled that brilliantly.

I said here in the summer of 2007 that they should deal Torii but they wouldn't for PR reasons. Signing him for $90 million at 32 years old sure didn't seem like a good idea to me. Maybe for a Hall of Famer, not for a Hall of Good player.

Well there is a difference between laughing at a friend ruining a couch and laptop and us eating delicious pizza on his dime, and having a sense of humor about a bad baseball team.

I still give him crap to this day for taking a leak on his laptop.

I take plenty of shots at the Twins, in fact I called for the firing of the staff and admitted the owners are sh*tty. To be honest though when a guy starts ripping his wife or g/f endlessly, I have no time for that either.

Twins lose, Perkins finally got burned and blew the save...

no dice today. Will be interesting to monitor attendance once September rolls around and football starts up. No Buxton or Sano fantasies to put butts in the seats either.

It was Mauer's first game since suffering the injury July 1 against Kansas City on July 1.

"As expected, I was pretty sore all over," he told the Pioneer Press. "The best thing is that the side I don't want to be sore isn't. It's everything else that is sore. I expected that, and it's OK.

I honestly can't take it any more. Joe, you played one f'ing game in a month AT FIRST BASE no less and you're "pretty sore"??? Hell, I was only kinda sore on the morning of July 4th after I shingled a goddamn garage on the 3rd!

Could it be that he only played one game and is sore because of it?

I injured my wrist playing soccer and after four plus weeks out, I was sore my first game back.

I'm sure it's all Sir Paul's fault. Drives the Target Field head groundskeeper nuts. If it was up to him the only events at Target Field would be Twins baseball. :)

You're aware Joe doesn't catch anymore, right? At first base all you do is stand and eat sunflower seeds. You can bet that quote was greeted with a collective eyeroll in the Twins clubhouse.

Right, all I'm saying is that you hear it all the time in the NFL, there's "in shape" and then there's "game shape". If you're out for a month, you're probably going to feel it the day after your first game back.

I don't even know what to say anymore. I don't know which is more embarrassing, that he is sore after playing one game at first base, or that he is enough of a dolt to admit out loud that he is sore.

Business as usual for Joe. I used to get upset or angry with Joe or the twins for their repeated blunders but they have become so irrelevant that malaise has set in. I check the scores and standings every once in awhile but haven't watched 1 game on TV all year and have only used my tix (20 game package) twice all year. I'm a big baseball fan but this organization has zapped me of my zest.

I'm sort of in the same boat. It's rough when you are being asked to shell out $15-$20 to park, $8-$10 for ONE beer, $6-$8 for a small food item. Then you have to watch a garbage product.

Depending on what they do in the off-season, this might be my last year as a STH for a while. But I really, really don't want to give up my seats. So it's going to be a tough decision. If they hire someone like the bench coach from the Rays like Reusse was praising, I think it would be a lot easier to fork over the cash. If they jack up prices I'm probably going to be out.

Yes, eating the price of the TIX is not a big deal when you know your saving $50-100 in parking, concessions. Like DX said this will probably be my last year of seats. There is no incentive to keeping them.

I don't blame anyone for not buying season tickets for any team. I go to 20 Twins games cheap, through various methods  I don't usually spend more than the ticket for the rail, and a beer for me and my lady.

I hope they spend in the offseason for many reasons, we'll see what they do.

Seriously just fire everyone and start over. New vision, new ideas, new leadership. That would get fans attention. firing TC or the bullpen coach or the valet parking attendant this offseason is just shuffling chairs on the titanic.

Seriously just fire everyone and start over. New vision, new ideas, new leadership. That would get fans attention. firing TC or the bullpen coach or the valet parking attendant this offseason is just shuffling chairs on the titanic.

Fire TC Bear? What the hell has he done wrong!

He still has the play of the year in spring training when he caught that ball in his mouth!

Dude, the damn bear has hit more home runs than the Twins in 2014.

If it's between keeping Gardy and Anderson or firing everybody, I go fire everybody.

I would also like to ditch the red bill on the road hat and redesign the road unis. I would add ditch the old Senators retread retro deal that the Twins started with in 1961, but everyone but me seems to love them.

Anyone know if the Twins have admitted publicly that they wore a batting practice jersey ( the red ones with no names on the back )?

They talked about that during the broadcast. It was their spring training jersey this year IIRC.
It is pitcher's choice for jerseys and whoever was pitching that day wanted to wear the red ones.

I dunno, I kinda liked them!

I wonder if Gardy knew the writing was on the wall when Terry Ryan refused to take Punto back in the Fuld trade...

I actually like the red bill on the road hat...but that's small potato's for a team 10 games under .500 starting a road trip in Oakland.

And hoping they spend more money next year? Come on...TR guards the Pohlads money...well....Better Than a Pohlad. :bored:  :ahhh:

Unfortunately the A's are a good team and Fuld doesn't start for them. So you'll have to be awake late into the night to see him get an 8th or 9th inning defensive substitution.

It seemed early on that Lester had no-hit stuff tonight but he gave up back to back singles in the 6th.
For a guy without an electric fastball (90-91mph) or a devastating breaking pitch like Kershaw's... He is really nasty. Really an artist on the mound. Everything he throws has a lot of movement. Reminds me a bit of the guys the Braves used to have. ;)

Correction, and you waited until after the game started to take your shot, Fuld is getting a day off. He has started every game with the A's until tonight.

Yeah. And then Coco Crisp came back and Fuld went back to the bench to be the 4th OF and late game sub.
There is a reason this same team (Oakland) released him earlier this season. He wasn't playing for them.

We might get to see the Trevor May soon. After we claimed another retread center fielder, the Twins sent down Logan Darnell. May starts tonight for Rochester, if he has a good outing will the Twins call up to start on Saturday? Hughes and Corriea Tuesday and Wednesday, Pino on Thursday, and in a bold move the Twins pitch Gibson on his normal 5th day with an off day for the team between his starts. That leaves May as a possible call up for Saturday's start against the Sam Fuld led Oakland A's.

The Twins as a team have their collective hands around their throat. There isn't one part of this team that doesn't choke under pressure.

I am sorry but when you are 100 games out of first place and can barely see .500 you have no pressure on you. People overuse the idea of choking.

[ believe teams under Gardy have regularly been mentality soft, which only compounds the lack of talent on rosters such as this one.

IDK, when you have starting pitchers who don't have the stuff to be efficient and go deep, and a subpar bullpen (Perkins is fine obviously), and a roster that wasn't exactly constructed with defense in mind, the mental side of the game is only going to matter so much. I guess you'd have to be more specific about the situations in which you think their mental toughness or whatever is the problem.
