All three RBIs came from pinch hitters for Florimon

Florimon, who is 2/4 this season so far
Side note: The Twins already won the Francisco Liriano deal based on today's game. Escobar is one of the 2 guys we got in return for Lirianus, and he's already done more for the Twins than Lirianus did for the White Sux

He's also on pace for 162 walks, which probably makes him the favorite right now among the saberheads for ROTY.

Win the next one and it will be the first time in two seasons we have been above .500 - might have to ice some bubbly. Just in case.

I liked how after the game during the interview with Escobar, Jamie Hersh was having such a hard time figuring out who to hold the mic for...(translator or the player that I don't understand). She was hovering the mic back and forth between the two, it was so distracting. Not to mention that you can only understand about every other word from the translator.

That is basically the only way the twins will win games this year...lull the opposing team to sleep and slap a few hits on slumping pitchers. Better hope for a good pitching season. What will happen if Hicks doesn't pan out?

Freezing cold? I barely needed a jacket it was in the mid 40s. The opener was way colder...

Or maybe it's a team with 2 straight 90+ loss seasons playing these day games and no sense of excitement to warrant coming out in cooler weather.

There's plenty of excitement davescharf. If we win today it will be the first time since Oct 3, 2010 that we were over .500!

I was looking at the Twins home schedule for April and they have a 12:10 PM game against Miami on Tuesday the 23rd. That one could set a new low for Target field, if the weather is cold.

We're Coming!!!!!!! 3 Ace starting pitchers (4 when Diamond gets back) and a shut down bullpen. Loved hearing Dan Gladden after the game say 5th,6th,7th and 8th hitters are dangerous! I don't know about you guys, but I got goose bumps! :D

Yes, heaven forbid someone would just try to enjoy the baseball season. The Twins win the first series of the year, against the team expected to win the division, and people have to come here and be snarky. No, I don't expect the Twins to win the division, but I enjoy baseball and I like going to the games. This was a very entertaining series, but a bunch of people have to pull a Goalphers and try to tear things down. Pretty sad.

No one on this board thinks the Twins will win the division, but it is nice to enjoy watching baseball when they win two games like they did Wednesday and Thursday. I can enjoy watching the game without going overboard and start saving money to purchase my World Series tickets.

In 2011 they started 1-3. In 2012 whey started 0-4. They looked awful with poor play all around. Their 2-1 start this year, especially against Detroit, is fun. I for one, just hope to see improvement and hopefully I can enjoy watching the games again.

Nothing more. Nothing less.
I was there in 75, 76, 79, 81, 83, 89, 02 and have watched our favorite team win 3 championships. :D

First place and on pace to win 108 games this year. I'm actually kind of glad they've not been good. It lowers ticket prices which is nice on my college budget and it's almost a relief to be able to give up early and just enjoy the season for what it is. That being said, it was a lot of fun when they were winning the division all the time. I just didn't get to as many games.

I understand with the weather why they have all these early games, but it sure would be nice to watch more than just the last few innings of these games :(

Makes this schedule even more idiotic to have the Twins open up at home IMO.

EDIT: Didn't realize it was in Baltimore today.  But still, I hate day games.

Thursday was better then Monday. As a beer vendor, all I can ask for is decent weather and a Twins team that stays competitive to keep the fans coming to the ballpark and dropping the cash.

So, snarkiness is encouraged in this thread but not allowed in the Gopher Basketball thread? Good to know, I missed the memo.

Dozier is having a heckuva day. His line through six innings:
3 AB, 2 H, 3 RBI, 1 R

Not bad for a 2B in the 8-hole.

At what point do they move Hicks down in the lineup to 8th or 9th? I know the guy has speed, but he's really struggling and some of the quicker guys in the bottom half of the lineup are producing more per plate appearance than Hicks.

I'm not giving up on Hicks, he just needs to get acclimated to the bigs a bit more before we can move him back up to lead off.

Plouffe shat on one last night that hit off the facing of the upper deck in left center, and Willingham hit one too.

I'd be surprised if they moved him out of there within the first couple weeks unless he asks out. We don't have a "leadoff hitter" on the roster right now, so Hicks is as good as any. And while the team is winning... If it ain't broke don't fix it ;)

I agree for the most part.

What about Florimon disqualifies him as a potential lead off guy? I mean, Hicks has far more potential and fits thr mold better than Florimon, but right now Hicks is struggling to adapt.

Probably the fact that Gardy feels the need to pinch hit for Florimon in the 6th or 7th inning in each of the first 2 (3?) games.

No he has 11 HR's in his last 11 regular season games, but not a HR in every game. He has homered in 10 of 11 though, not too bad. :)

Oh I always love snark...the difference is you were being snarky about nothing that was going on (mainly us acting like Rich Pitino being the next Rick Pitino) whereas we were being snarky because the Twins actually blow. ;)

I am not too worried. He will change it around. But he needs to stop WATCHING strike 3. The ENTIRE team needs to stop watching strike 3. It is embarrassing.

And a perfectly executed drag bunt by Florimon. Very well done.
