It’s such a weird stat but Nebraska is 1-7 in the Big Ten but they have a +7 point differential. Tells you how many close games they’ve lost considering they’ve played 3 top ten teams just in the conference (if you count Sparty)

Trying to figure out the BTN team yesterday. After the win they say "Well the winner of next week UW vs MN game will go onto the Big 10 title game. I think they forgot about Iowa..

So if UW wins they go no matter what. If MN wins they will need Iowa to lose @ NEB to make it. Iowa makes it in with a win and UW loss.

MN and UW have the tie breaker over Purdue so they are out already.

Correct me if I am wrong please

According to the strib the Gophers also need Purdue to win-- https://www.startribune.com/gophers-big ... 600119167/
Gophers: This is where it gets complicated. The Gophers must beat Wisconsin, have Nebraska beat Iowa and have Purdue beat Indiana. If that happens, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Purdue would be in a four-way tie at 6-3. The first tiebreaker in play in that scenario would be best record among the four teams. The Gophers and Wisconsin would be 2-1 in the group, while Iowa and Purdue would be 1-2, eliminating the Hawkeyes and Boilermakers. That would leave the Gophers and Wisconsin tied, and Minnesota would win the head-to-head tiebreaker if they beat the BADgers.
I guess they lose out on a three-way tie, but not a four-way tie.

Going 2-6 in conference play with losses to Kentucky, South Carolina, and Missouri will do that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but neither of those games included giving up a blocked punt for a touchdown and the QB taking a safety by getting called for intentional grounding.

And to cap it off, they were in Iowa territory (around the 30 yard line) with a minute left before their QB threw an interception when the nearest receiver was 20 yards away.

I found it a little over the top that the Iowa media department posted pictures of the players with the West Division trophy and the players acting like they won it all. It's just a share of the title for now...celebrate, if you must, after someone else helps you win the outright title. I don't think celebrating a "share" of the title is worthy to celebrate and post on social media.

Maybe it's just me though...

Just pointing out that, as impressive collapses go, we, as Gophers fans, have seen some that rival, or exceed, what happened in that game. The fact that Mase was coaching the team at the time is strictly coincidental. Note: I didn't mention the collapse that galls me the most.

I was making a joke about… but I agree… lol!!!
And I’m in the minority… I’m a Mason fan. And I honestly believe he would still be the coach here if it wasn’t for a handful of collapses. He should’ve been the coach to open TCF, not Brewster. He was a couple hurdles from staying here. One, he had a horrible relationship with the local Minnesota high school coaches and players. And while he could recruit and coach offense with the best of them. He lacked recruiting and coaching on the defensive side.
Though I’m happy with Fleck and see success in the football program’s future. Just keep rowing I guess… lol!!!

The College Playoffs should be down to Georgia and 3 others...

Lock:
Georgia - Regardless of the SEC Championship.

Win and In:
Alabama - Win the SEC vs. Georgia and in. Lose... I don't know. I don't trust the committee cause it's Alabama.
Cincy - Win vs. Houston and they should be in. Though again, I don't trust the committee.
Michigan - Win the BIG and they are in.

Need Helps:
Oklahoma State - Win the Big 12 vs. Baylor and an Alabama lost. And they should be in the playfs.
Notre Dame - Need 2 of the 3 (Alabama, Cincy and Michigan) to lose. Negative: They don't play in a conference championship. Positive: They are Notre Dame.
Baylor - Thump Oklahoma State and needs LOTS of help.
Oregon - Beat Utah and LOTS of help.
Ohio State - Needs LOTS of help.... But they are Ohio State.

Since the start of the BIG Championship Game in 2011. Only once (2015: Mich. State/Iowa) neither Ohio State and wisconSIN were not playing.

Maybe he wants to get out before the move to the SEC? The Pac 12 is much easier.

My feeling exactly. Get while the getting is good. He'll do well in the Pac !2 and will get USC back up to speed.

On the D3 topic, happy to see my alma mater Central College back in the NCAA playoffs again making noise. They beat Bethel and Wheaton in the first two rounds but unfortunately have to go through a Wisconsin Whitewater team. It always seems like Central has to play either a Wisconsin team or St Johns who knock them out. Hopefully they can beat WW and make the national semifinals. Overall though I am just happy they are back where they belong!

Looks like the exodus from OK is starting.

Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler, the preseason Heisman favorite who was benched early in the season, announced on Monday that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal. Rattler started all 11 games as a redshirt freshman last season, throwing for 3,031 yards and 28 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He was the first-team All-Big 12 quarterback.

OK also losing four recruits thus far 5 star QB commit, plus 2022 LB, 2023 WR and RB. All top 300 recruits.

Thought this was a great article on thinking through entering the transfer portal, which has become NCAA's version of free agency. I know it's so hard to give up that dream and believe it may not happen, but this is solid advice on balancing reality with free education you may be giving up or the level of education you get.

This should be printed out. Laminated. And put in every locker in every sport.

And when you have the benefactors and boosters they have in LA.

Gee - I can get my brains beat in moving to the SEC or get paid $110M to have a shot to win in a weaker P5 conference. What a gig

The only reasons USC declined were bad coaching and having other Pac12 teams come in and " poach" kids that normally would be an easy signing for USC.
SoCal HS & the JCs out there produce some real talent. USC just wasn't getting the ones they needed.
