I pin that one to the frontal lobe of Perbix.

When I first saw it I thought that must have been a forward. Nope it was defenseman Perbix who decided to do a fly by instead of getting onto his back skates to defend. Bad idea.

The game flipped right there. A shorty to go up 3 zip. Pretty hard to come back from that.

Well, no one touched the puck. It looked like there were 3 people on the ice. Just seemed like a ticky tack call.

Looks like Moose Jaw U is gonna pull this out.

MN had 3/4 at the FF and 0/3 chance of winning.

Bahahaha this is so satisfying seeing St Clown get embarrassed. Even the announcers laughing at that fat kid eating his sorrows away, pounding waffle fries was the icing on the cake

As much as I was rooting for Umass I was not expecting a lopsided game. I guess my jinx factor is on hiatus tonight.

I have a couple close friends/relatives I do feel bad for. I’m happy for Garrett Wait. I think of him every time I’m at a crosswalk on campus.

I'm happy for Wait as well. But, he was a 4th line, part time player here and it was best for him to move on. Bonus points for your snark though. :dup:

Weird to think about that. If Wait was here he'd be on the 4th line every other night. At UMASS he's a champion. Go figure.

Jan Brady has the worst fan base in college hockey. Angry white trash with zero hockey knowledge. Eff that whole garbage town.

Yes, I'm still bitter about them throwing batteries at Gopher players at the national concrete center about 15 years ago.

Well that was interesting! StC made 3 big mistakes early on and it cost them 1-2-3. They never recovered from that. Actually sort of a boring game when it’s a blow out like that. More excitement off the ice. The jackbag UMD foursome I mentioned earlier...they got kicked out before the first period ended! Stinking drunk yelling obscenities at UMass fans. Security came down, said this is a family arena, this is your first and last warning. They didn’t make it 5 minutes. An extra large security guy came back and said you’re done for the night. It was the highlight of the night. The entire section cheered.

It's all about match ups, in the championship game you need senior leadership. Umass is not unbeatable. They lost to Merrimack, on any given night you never know what can happen in college hockey.

Congrats to U Mass on their first National Championship! Was thinking the score was going to be a lot closer then it ended up.

It was nice seeing three MN teams in the Frozen Four, hopefully our team will be one of them next year.

Yes, it actually happened. Fans were given some sort of light up trinket when they entered the building. Jan fans took the batteries out and threw them at Gopher players.

I believe that was the last time that Joy Lucia was in the Concrete Center too as batteries were thrown at her.

Was one of them this weirdo?

Student section had hand held fans. When the blades spun the word Huskies lit up. All night long it was a rain of batteries or just the entire fan hitting the ice. It was a nightmare on the ice which was stupid because your own team is out there.
And yes they apparently threw batteries at Lucias wife. She said she’d never return to StC again.

SCSU is the only game I've ever had a beer dumped on me by an opposing fan (at NCC). When I went to security I got a "Well, what did you expect was going to happen." I just left. F that place. F those fans. F that team. In fact most rinks I have never had a negative experience, there's been banter and such, but never anything bad. That was awful.

I was at that one too. At what point in time did the higher ups at scsu even think it was a good idea to hand out such paraphernalia?

A friend on here also had dead gophers thrown past her head by jan clowns at the final five. I mean we expect that out of pioux fans (that’s a whole ‘nother story).

At the old ralph I had beer bottles thrown at my head. Glass beer bottles. Thankfully they had bad aim. Still the worst fan base ever.

How could a team from a conference so powerful that no NHL team dares step on the ice with them lose 5-0 in the title game?

The guy I don't feel sorry for tonight is Mark Parrish.

It was worth Jan losing just to not have to listen to him blather on about it for the next umpteen years.

If Easton plays most likely a different outcome. He makes a big difference!
So they lose 5-1?
It's all about match ups, in the championship game you need senior leadership. Umass is not unbeatable. They lost to Merrimack, on any given night you never know what can happen in college hockey.
So you didn’t watch the game?
No I listened to it on the radio.

So true. He would've become even more insufferable about SCSU hockey than he already is.

I was very close to muting him during the single A state high school games he called due to him consistently saying 'Go Huskies' or talking about Jefferson hockey like anyone cares.

The report on the FF from my boss this morning was pretty positive. He felt that either team (Mavs or Jan) could have won but he felt that even when it was 4-4 that the Mavs would win, he felt they carried play more than Jan did...agree to disagree. He did admit that if the Mavs made it to the final it would have been a 5-0 win for UMass, clearly the best team there.

This was his first FF and can see why people love to go each year, said that even with it being a covid experience it was very fun. He said Pittsburgh was a good experience and would have loved to see it during a non-covid year. His only bad experience was he had a red menace fan behind him Saturday blathering on and on about how Wisconsin was the best team in the tournament...yes, the entire tournament. Also that bucky fan was yelling at the Jan players that they were "Gopher rejects", stay classy Bucky.

Yeah, that was about as even of a matchup as you could find. St Cloud carried the first period and we were lucky to not be down by more. MSU carried the second period and about half of the third until we scored the goal to go up. After that, it felt like MSU was playing not to lose. They fought so hard to get back into it at take the lead and then were happy to just dump the puck. It was so weird as that's not at all what they typically do, nor what got them back in the game. They had the crowd into it (as much as you can with only 4000 people there) and if just felt like the momentum was all in their favor and they just started laying back.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea that UMass was head and shoulders above the rest of the teams. Yes, they killed St Cloud, but once they went down because of bad mistakes, it was never in doubt. Those type of things and games happen. Honestly, I thought UMD was the better team on Thursday until OT, then UMass just smothered them. I really do think that if you match up all those teams they are all going to be 50/50 games. Yes, there will be some blowouts, but it's a toss up in most cases in my opinion.
