The story initially had her BAC at .98, which was strangely believable in Wisconsin.

(I'm kidding...)

I don't understand (nor will I ever) the need for a journalist to take the time to write a story like this. I mean, at what point during the interview with the guy do you stop and say "Is this what I am doing with my life?"

If Wisconsin-Madison is the state's most prestigious university and the state itself is known as The Dairy State, does that mean UW is Bovine University?

Now that's some stunning news.

Iowa is #4. I think my in-laws are single-handedly responsible for putting them in the top 5. How they still have functioning livers is one of life's great mysteries.

We drink, but we know our limits. Sort of. Kinda.

WI are on a whole new level, and IA is the alcohol industry's best kept secret. There's only one other thing to do down there. Just saying. ;)

Doesn't the article say he is now reconsidering his earlier announcement that he would be leaving after the 2015-2016 season?

Not saying that what he did wasn't a crime, but "providing false information" doesn't seem like the right thing to charge that idiot with.

Towed? Not really a Wisco joke here but amazes me they can't and don't make temp fixes at sea... WTF would they do in battle - just stop? Compare that with the carrier USS Yorktown in WWII - hammered at the Battle of Coral Sea near Australia [direct hit by a bomb that blew up below deck] then limped back across the Pacific for repairs - expected to take three months but instead was in battle less than a month later at Midway [where it was finally sunk].

Yes I know the ships of that day were simple yet robust but still the fact this super advanced modern ship had to be towed because of debris in the filters disturbs me.

Upper Deck?

Darn tootin'. They always had a tourney during NFL Draft weekend, we used it to "open" our season.

We played up there one time. Once was enough. 250 foot fences, terrible fields, a long drive, and people who couldn't handle their booze.

Hour drive for most of us, Holiday Inn (the really good one) in St Cloud, made a party weekend out of it. Red Carpet! We could handle our booze.

Lots of "rules" due to the 250 fields. Hit a HR after limit? You buy a pitcher. Etc. The fields were okay. You want to talk about terrible fields? SRO. HORRIBLE. They had ROCKS in the outfield.

High school basketball player suspended for 5 games after foul-mouthed tweet about the WIAA, which isn't surprising, but what was surprising was what set her off. Apparently in a state where heavy drinking and making a complete idiot of yourself at sports games is king, you can't chant "airball" or "sieve" at high school games.

If Wisconsin-Madison is the state's most prestigious university and the state itself is known as The Dairy State, does that mean UW is Bovine University?

Just be sure you are careful what you chant at any high school games you attend....

Actually that punishment seems way out of line for such a minor oversight.

All would be forgiven if you come up with as many good "alternative cheers" as Jay Bilas did  :
http://usatodayhss.com/2016/jay-bilas-o ... april-gehl

To be fair to the WIAA, they weren't actually banning the cheers and that was just a sportsmanship reminder email, but man did they open themselves up for ridicule.

"Hard work will beat talent, if talent doesn't work hard"
Doug Woog - 1990

This quote was written on the chalkboard in a lockeroom in the old Ralph Engelstad arena my Squirt team used the day after the Gophers used it and came into the game ranked #1 in the nation and lost 6-1 to a second rate Whioux team.

It doesn't fit in here, but the NQHLN thread is locked, and I didn't want to start a "You Can't Make This Sh*t Up" thread, so I'm putting it in here...

Minnesota Town to Host Redneck Festival

I actually saw the article in the Pioneer Press yesterday (in a section of the paper I rarely read), and started reading it. Imagine my shock/horror/dismay, when I found out that it's MY HOMETOWN that's hosting it.

You guys must not spend much time in SW Minnesota - all those places you mentioned are idyllic country escapes compared to say Marshall, Jackson, Luverne.
