Only in Wisconsin

Post by Zwak » Fri May 11 9:03 am

By popular request, I decided to start an Only in Wisconsin thread.

I can think of no better topic to start it with than with the link that Cowgirl provided in the MLB news thread.

Well, those Wisconsinites are probably doing anyway. Might as well try to have fun with it. The crash-and-burn in Milwaukee should be especially dramatic this summer.

I think eating that (the 7-legged deer) would make me a little nervous...good thing he looks too old to have any more kids.

Pee yourself for the Brewers...As in celebrate something you'd probably do anyway. That reminds me of the all-time greatest PSA anyplace, anywhere.

Anyone else remember the County Stadium ad that admonished Brewer fans not to be the "two-fisted slopper"? Absolutely classic. Complete with animation of drunken guy tripping over and spilling beer on people in his row. Despite that, there had to be 1000+ plus fans there who could have served as the stunt double for Barney on the Simpsons.

His apology brought a smattering of applause and laughter. He tried to recover, saying former Packer Bart Starr may be the greatest of all time, but the crowd was still restless.

"Let's take Favre then," Brownback said. "The Packers are great. I'm sorry. How many passes does he complete without a line?"

"All of them!" more than one person yelled from the back.

Do Packer fans not realize that passes completed to the other team are bad?

This afternoon we went to LaCrosse for the 10th annual Deke Slayton Airshow. This is the 3rd that we've attended. The Blue Angels are highlighting this years event and it's one of the first shows since they lost Blue Angel #6 a few weeks ago. The weather was great and the flying was spectacular. The traffic in and out....not so great.

LaCrosse Airport is surrounded by neighborhoods so a couple of the houses had lawn chairs set up, grills, and canopies. Sounds like a helluva deal. But then we noticed a house with it's own porta-potty setup in the backyard.......

The airshow finishes up and we're waiting for traffic to clear out but wind up spending an hour in line anyway. No big deal, I can put up with most anything for an hour. On the way out my wife says to me, hey, lets see what's up wi th the porta-potty party house. Traffic is still heavy as we're slowly passing the place up.

On the fence facing towards traffic, is a fully inflated blow up doll. Holy God was that funny. We laughed our way all the way past Rochester with that one. Heaven knows what my 8 year old is going to tell his buddies on Monday morning.

WI gas station to turn off pumps for one day

Post by Zwak » Tue May 22 2:12 pm

“If we can get everybody – consumers and gas suppliers — not to pump on Thursday, it could really make a difference [in getting the prices to come down],”

Can some please explain to me again why delaying your gas purchase by one day will help bring the price down? :confused2:

I don't think he will be getting his competitors to join him.

Wait until Friday and the price will probably be higher than it was on Thursday.

You're right, one day won't do anything to drop the price. It would probably push the price up. The only way to lower it is to consistantly reduce the ammount of gas you buy. Take the bus to work and GET RID OF THE SUV. (God, I feel like a dirty hippie for saying that.)

Driving through wisco and listening to talk radio, the commentary on silly stories is different.

Instead of "only in Wisconsin", it's "Gee, do you think that alcohol was involved."

Knowing Wisconsin cops, they probably fined him post-mortem for ripping the iron guard off the drain and took the cash off his bloated, dead body.

Can you imagine the family of this guy having to explain how he died? Although I'm sure anyone that knew him will not be surprised.

When I heard the story last week about the wife who showed up to pick up her husband after he had been arrested for DUI was drunk herself, I was positive that it was going to be a Wisconsin couple. Alas, there were from Minnesota but if it was going to happen anywhere in this state, it seem apropos that it was in St. Cloud. Gotta love "the Ploud."

Post by Zwak » Mon Jun 11 10:05 am

This guy's playhouse for his kids has to be dismantled as it is too large according to village codes.

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to head to St. Louis Park to see this one!

13-year-old and a teacher having relations in Prescott. Two "interesting" parts to the story -

The student's father said he found the two having a middle of the night rendezvous together at the teacher's home after the boy stole his mother's car.

The kid is 13 and he stole his mother's car?!

Sources said the woman's husband and 13-year-old daughter were home at the time.

Oh, and the kid was dating this lady's 13-year-old daughter. How messed up can you get?

Two things I saw while at the cabin in Wisconsin last week.

1) A guy on a riding lawn mower with a mullet, cut off tee shirt, trucker hat and wearing cut off zubas.

2) In line at the gas station a guy about 5'2" 350 pounds, balding in front but with a long ponytail, and a severe, severe case of acne was wearing a tee shirt that read: Chick Magnet.

If you didn't know that Grand Chute was a town in Wisconsin, this headline could take on a whole new meaning.

I think I would have taken my mom's car too if that was the payoff.

I started this thread as kind of fun way to poke fun at WI.

This happened in WI but is the complete opposite of what I intended this thread to be.

A little "eye for an eye" seems in order for this crew. Do to them what they did to the 11 year old.

Unbelievable that someone could that kind of stuff to another person.

These kinds of stories have always bothered me, but now that I have two of me own they drive me bonkers.

I think of times when one my own have been hurt, felt sad, felt scared, etc. Those times when they seem to say, "I want my Daddy". Here you have this little guy that looks up to you, relies upon you for practically everything, needs you and wants nothing more than to be loved and protected by you. So imagine a child with that mindset having to hide themselves from the very people that are supposed to love and protect them. Then try to comprehend how gross and horrible that child must feel when being physically and mentally tortured. The emotional damage - even more than the physical - must be enormous. It just makes me want to go postal on someone that would bring that kind of pain to an innocent person that cannot defend themselves and has to try and comprehend why mommy and daddy don't love them.

VERY well stated. The following quote from the article REALLY got to me.
