On another radio note, has anyone heard the British gal on Cities 97. I hate to sound like an ugly American her accent is SO British that I have a hard time listening to her for more than a minute or two..

Is it "Nyma" or however you spell it?
She's on the power trip from time to time and they rip her accent all the time.

Naima and her accent is sexy, but the only pic I've seen of her not so much.

I was listening at work today and was stunned when I heard this. She has worked for FSN for years and they broadcast the Final Five, yet she has no idea why it's called that. Almost worse was PA asking why they have the end of year tournaments and her response was "because it's the best hockey and it gives teams a chance to move up in the rankings."

Question about the radio broadcast tonight. Does KSTP stream the game on their webstream like KFAN does for Gophers football on iheartradio?
Parents are in Mexico and wanted to listen to a little of the the game tonight if possible.
Thanks!

I definitely like Jamie Hersch as the most recent addition to the Gopher Hockey broadcast team.

More Jamie, less Marney.

Ben starting to grow on me as well. He ends interviews a little awkwardly, but he doesn't act nervous at all in front of the camera. In fact, it's almost like he's having a conversation with an old friend at home....but ther's a camera turned on.

I really like the line up they have right now. Chorske has gotton a whole lot better, Ben Clymer has really ramped up his whole on camera persona in a really short period of time. He's really quite good. It's great when you can have a couple of former Gopher players doing the broadcast who both happen to have their names on the Stanley Cup.

Doug McLeod is an entertaining play by play guy, add Jenny Taft and Jamie Hersch into the mix and you've got Gopher hockey as the best broadcast presentation of college hockey above all others.

Noticed watching UND game yesterday that the production quality doesn't even come close. Not sure who picked up the game or whatever, but the off ice interviews and the guys with the mics just not even in the same league with the FSN quality of broadcast.

This was Midco's first year broadcasting the games. Quite a few kinks to work out. Dan Hammer is UND's radio vox for football and Katie Hale doesn't do this full time, she has a day job. I thought overall they did a decent job and it will improve next year, especially since the games will be in HD.

Maybe you and watchbreake50 need to hook up. I understand he has a book titled "How to think up excuses."

Just how long have they had hockey broadcasts up there in Grand Forks? You say that NEXT YEAR you'll finally get the whioux in HD? Sweet. Major league.

This was Midco's first year broadcasting the games. Quite a few kinks to work out. Dan Hammer is UND's radio vox for football and Katie Hale doesn't do this full time, she has a day job. I thought overall they did a decent job and it will improve next year, especially since the games will be in HD.

Not so much bragging. More like relief. Nothing like seeing how bad things could be to know how good we have it here. It's the same feeling I get when I see pictures of Grand Forks.

Considering where the broadcasts originate from, I'm surprised the quality is as good as it is. It is almost as good as the high school games I watch on cable access here.

You guys do have it good. The only broadcast that can compare is NBCSN. The less games you get on BTN in the coming years, the better for you.streakygopher wrote:Not so much bragging. She is starting to seem creepy to me. When they are sitting at a desk talking, she looks at the other person talking and nods and all--that's OK. But when she turns and looks into the camera while listening, then smiles funny, and nods. I can't put my finger on it, but it is just....creepy.

His tweets lately have been ridiculous. He's been tweeting about Brian Zepp as if Zepp (recovering addict) was the devil. Paging Mr Freud.
He's also been tweeting so over-the-top complimentary about his wife that it appeared as though he were trying to make up for something.

I haven't listened to him in over a decade, but peeking over at his tweets suggest to me that he's a prick.
examples:
I took a $600,000 a year pay cut to make sure my coworkers didn't get the hook. Apparently they don't give a f***!
The Pohlad boys are complete f*** criminals. " Oh, we'll spend the money it takes to field a winning team!" f*** liars!
Dude. You're 61 years old. Maybe its time to stop using the F bomb on every tweet like a 15 year old kid.
At first glance and by his own comments, it appears he's doing the podcasts only as a means of screwing KQ as well.

I don't read the tweets, but that's odd, as Brian Zepp is on the show with him. Why would he be blasting him on Twitter?
I have to say I'd like to be able to take a $600K pay cut!

I used to listen to KQ every morning, but now I listen about half the time. They have great guests on the show and Barnard is a great interviewer. However, I got tired of Barnard always saying "I would kick that guys a_s." Also, it's very clear on the show that you do not disagree with Barnard. He will make a comment that maybe 5% of people would agree with, and the others on the show will be completely silent. They are very afraid to say anything that disagrees with Barnard. For me, that makes the show very boring. Might as well just have Barnard go solo on the show since no one else will give an opinion that disagrees with him.
I was there in 75, 76, 79, 81, 83, 89, 02 and have watched our favorite team win 3 championships.
