Maybe, maybe not. I will say he is a smug prick either way.

The most self-deprecating person on the airwaves at KFAN (and the last person to get twitter at the station) is a smug prick? The reason he didn't want a twitter account is because he feels "over-exposed" just from his radio show and the Vikes games and calling races at Canterbury. He openly admits he's not a great hockey mind etc.
Smug is not the word I would use to describe PA...

I completely agree with you that he's not smug. 'Annoying' or 'unlistenable' would be much better words to use. :)

I'd say that "juvenile" most appropriately describes PA...

...although "self-absorbed" comes in a very close second.

I hate PA on the radio, cant stand most of his takes or the cute phrases he uses but smug is not the word I would use to describe him. In fact of all the people on the radio in this town he is one of the few who I dont think is a complete turd of a person most of the time.

I do agree with juvenile though that is a great way to describe him.

Exactly!

I don't understand how anyone could think he is smug

His show has gone way downhill ever since Doobers left, but he's definitely not smug.

Not smug. Have gone to a few live events with him there, and he's earnest/self-deprecating/appreciates his fans/etc. Juvenile? Sure. It's radio. It happens. But not smug.

I talked with PA at a remote around 10 years ago, for about 12 minutes or so. Wide-ranging, talked about sports, kids, weather, etc. He was a cool dude to me. Not a hint of asshole behavior or condescension.

You can say what you want about Anthony lapanta, but his leads in to Hockey Day were very good and infinitely better than Tom Hannemans sleepy version today.

Also, I thought Marnie Gellner was going to start arguing with Woog on air last night that the Whioux aren't cheap hacks. She needs to be done with Gopher telecasts of any kind. It's painful.

Is Souhan a complete idiot, or is he being sarcastic here...? I cannot tell.

By some quirk of scheduling, the Minnesota Wild opened its 2013 season at home on Saturday night after the Gophers played North Dakota at Mariucci and a bunch of high school games were contested outside in the bitter wind.

Someone should capitalize on this. Maybe call it "Ice Sports Weekend in the Upper Midwest." That has a ring to it.

Not at all. I would pick from sophomoric or puerile.

Both. He's a huge idiot...but trying to be funny...which he is not

Souhan's attempt at 'comedy' here immediately brought to mind Bruno Kirby's character in Good Morning Vietnam, after he takes over Adrian Cronauer's radio show...

Great to hear the Dubay rants again but my one complaint is that he interrupts Judd too much. I wish he would at least let Judd finish before he jumps in.

Anybody have any info on what actually took place with the Maple Grove hockey team? The news outlets keep throwing up headlines, but none of the actual articles have any substance.

I caught some of the show the other day and noticed the exact same thing. The other thing I noticed was how much Dubay stutters. Did he always do this and I just forgot?

Today's story in the Stribe ticked me off with the various weak-assed comments. "Boys will be boys" is the old chestnut trotted out and they didn't disappoint this time. Seriously? Your HS hockey team is accused of making a SEX TAPE and that's your response? My other favorite is "kids make mistakes". Christ on toast. A mistake is absent-mindedly reaching for the cell phone in the car and wrapping daddy's car around a tree, a mistake is not more then one person planning, plotting, pre-organizing getting someone drunk in order to make a sex tape. Anything that involves setting up and carrying out a planned mission for a pre-determined end is not a mistake, it is a criminal act. I hope the ones involved are not just suspended for a couple of games, I hope they are expelled from school and charged. That the police still claim to not know the details or what went on is insane. The details and facts haven't all come out, but the comments from the school admin and the coach go way beyond kids got caught drinking, something serious happened and for them to cover it up to protect the schools reputation is only going to make it worse. The school has no business leading the investigation, it is clearly police business.

Can you guys point me to where you all reviewed the indisputable facts necessary to pass judgment? All I've been able to find is conjecture and rumors being spread about the internet. Nothing like guilty until proven innocent - you know, a basic principal of our rights as citizens.

On a side note, did you guys hear that the UND team robbed a bank at gunpoint after the Saturday game at Marriucci and spent the $19,000 cash they grabbed on hookers and booze. They even video taped all of it. You just read this info on the internet, and it is the Whioux, so it must be true. Lets send them all to prison for life...

Speculation could have been mitigated if the folks in charge had told the press what happened. Instead they decided to cover it up. Which ALWAYS makes things worse.

Cover it up? Or doing what they can to find out everything before releasing any details, so they don't make more of a mess of the situation (see also: Duke lacrosse, Mankato coach with video of kids)

How long does this investigation need to take? The coaches suspension is already over. How do they know enough to lift that but not tell the press what happened?

I don't know. I'm sure more details will come out (either by them, or by other venues where the people in question will have to address it) soon enough, though.

Thus my point. If they have enough information to suspend and then unsuspend the coach then they have enough information to tell us what happened.

According to that article, the suspension of the coach was unrelated to this incident.

The district better hope that if (please note I said IF) a tape does exist that is never goes public. The fallout from that will be epic. First of all anyone involved in the making of the tape will be charged with rape and if they can prove she was intoxicated (and her age is known) they will go to jail for it.

Then the real problems will come about...if (and again I stress IF) this really was a tradition the media and the cops are going to be looking for the past victims. They are going to talk to everyone in Osseo/Maple Grove trying to get the full story. As soon as another girl goes public, everyone goes down. A bunch of players will turn on each other and awaaaaaaay we go!

Then the public outcry will go crazy, calls for the coach to be fired and the school administrators to face the music. Talks of a conspiracy will go viral and the media will fan the flames. Before you know it everyone north of Crystal will be a sex offender and all hockey players rapists!!!1!!11! It will be nuts! these things cannot be contained once the flames start.

Now in my personal opinion I tend to believe the story though it is probably a bit embellished. Traditions like these do exist, we all have all heard about them. (though every one I heard of the girls were willing participants...not that that makes it right) If these kids did what they are being accused of they have no idea how screwed they are going forward. If there is one screenshot that can identify anyone they might as well preregister as sex offenders because they are going to need to get used to it.

I hope none of it is true for a million reasons.

Does anyone know what stats website Frank has been mentioning on Twitter and the radio lately? His Tweet about it said, "Link to stats on my facebook page: FrankMPhoto". No link. He mentioned it again tonight on the radio.

Any ideas?

Did anyone watch "The Sports Show" last night? What was with the girl wearing the Alary's t-shirt walking around the set the whole time? I know Alary''s is a sponsor of the show but it was awkward and Reusse and LaVelle were laughing and rolling their eyes.
