I have heard mixed reviews on the beer. The space looks awesome, though, from the pics I've seen from people who have been there.

Most likely not. They took them away once they opened back up, for whatever reason.

Isn’t that the case with most new breweries? Unless you’re a place like Barrel Theory or Falling Knife most places need a few months (6+) to improve their beer. After that it’s hard to tell if they’ll be anything more than what they are

From what I've been told, the bread changed. Only difference. Same owners and all, they just re-branded a couple years ago, to very mixed to disappointing reviews.

They are better than the fast-casual subs like Quizno's, Subway, Erbert's. Add to that, memories?

It's a sub. It is what it is. I love 'em personally. I don't expect gourmet stuff.

We always went to Village Wok over Big Ten. You're right though it's a sub

I obviously went to the Hopkins location, after finally visiting the UM one. What puzzles me, is that Thirty Bales said it was one of their best sellers. THEN WHY TAKE IT AWAY? Morons. I've only gotten the B10 subs from there. Otherwise, I go across the street to Nacho's.

The sub is a sub. Still good and more nostalgic, but better than a casual sub place. Little disappointment with the $7 fries. We got like 8 of them.

Village Wok and Taste of Manhattan for me. But I did enjoy going to Big Ten to study with a beer or two in the afternoon before going to an evening class or a late lab.

Village Wok is the one that has lots of memories for me. It was your basic Chinese food but so good.

Lots of "memories" from $5 pitcher night at big ten. I think it was Natty ice or something.

Went to Campus only once, then it closed. I regret not going there more (Note: I did not go to the UM). That was some good pizza.

Basic Chinese food? I think there was over 15 different meats on the menu from octopus, to duck, to whole fish.

The menu needed a table of contents.

There were a lot of times my friends and I felt like the only non Asian people in there.

The other place we had a lot of memories was Foul Play in Dinkytown. $2 jumbo kamikazes and $4 pitchers of Premo. You could get pretty hammered with a singe $20 bill and have change left for the tip

If you went in after 10 pm it was 90% Asian, which is a testament to the authenticity. Most tables were eating family style at that time of night.

No doubt and still one of my favorites restaurants. Didn’t mean it in a bad way at all. Legit restaurant, But saying is basic meaning like nothing too over the top but fantastic and authentic dishes. Loved getting the fish you had to preorder and would come out whole.

Countless Lunch Combos throughout college and many late night meals there

Late at night and other times, only Asians there which is good testament to them. That and HK Noodles were legit.

The most overrated donut of all timo, IMO. Give me a Holiday gas station donut over a Krispy Kreme.

It is crazy. In SF, there are people who drive to Omaha to pick up boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts and sell them in parking lots. Plus, there are so many locally owned donut and cupcake places that are much better if people must overpay for donuts.

There is something to be said about the novelty of an item. The fact that a food item is hard to get makes it that much more desirable. Krispy Kreme was in Twin Cities for about a year and then they all went away.

I think the same thing would happen to Yuengling or Spotted Cow should they ever expand to MN. I think their popularity would die off.

It is crazy. In SF, there are people who drive to Omaha to pick up boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts and sell them in parking lots. Plus, there are so many locally owned donut and cupcake places that are much better if people must overpay for donuts.
A buddy's softball team uses Krispy Kreme donuts as a fundraiser. They take orders for X dozen from people and charge like $5 extra per box. Then they have somebody drive down to pick them up and set up a time for the people who ordered them to come pick up the donuts. It must raise a pretty decent chunk of money cuz they keep doing it.

A new In N Out Burger opened in Aurora, CO yesterday. There was a 14 hour wait.
To be fair, what else were they going to do with those 14 hours?

Krispy Kreme donuts are fantastic if you get them warm. Otherwise they’re just meh.

They opened the first one in Aurora Colorado when I was stationed out Colorado Springs. About a month after they opened I stopped late one Tuesday night (after 10pm late) to get some for my coworkers since I was in Denver for the evening. It was still a 2.5 hour wait even then.

I’ve stood in line for some crazy things (most beer and various Black Friday sales) over the years but that was insane. I absolutely love In N Out but I’d wait a few months to go if one opened here.

I finally tried In-N-Out when I was in San Diego a few years ago. It was really good, but not THAT good. I wouldn't wait in line more than 15 minutes for it. It's an above average fast food burger, and that's it.

The only donut I would wait any amount of time for is Ekegvist old-fashioned sour cream donuts. So good. Not 14 hour good (nothing is).

Also, The Banquet Beer is Coors Leaded and The Silver Bullet is Coors Unleaded.

Bootlegging? Like going over to Osceola WI to get a load of what is brewed in New Glarus?
Seriously there is a road in Northern Anoka Co. / Southern Isanti Co. that is actually named today "Whiskey Rd." The University Ave extension out of Bethel is Whiskey Rd as it runs to Isanti & rumor has it that it earned that name as a old bootlegging route.

There has always been a rumor (never confirmed to my knowledge) that there is a tunnel under the Red River from Whitey’s in EGF to GF that was used to get booze across to ND when ND was a dry state as well as during prohibition.

I do know that during the 20s EGF had more neon light in a 2 block stretch than anywhere else in the world at the time and was referred to as “Little Chicago”.

It's been a while since I've eaten at Five Guys/Smashburger/My Burger, but as I recall, they were overpriced for what you got.

While I don't ever remember what I ate at Kmart's cafeteria but I do remember eating there a couple times back in the day when my mom worked there back in the 80's. The cafeteria lasted for like a year or two after Kmart opened in my hometown before they took it out of the store. The shoe department filled that void after it was gone.

I just saw online that the Dinkytown McDonalds is closing today. It appears that it is being torn down for another new apartment building and a new McDonalds will be in the building.
CA Ventures, the developer in charge of the project, expanded the building’s footprint to three-fourths of the block from the previous one-half. It will encompass the corner of Fourth Street Southeast and Fifteenth Avenue Southeast, plus parts of Fifth Street.
This new plan includes redevelopment of the building that Pizza Hut, Subway and TCF Bank occupy, plus the Dinkytown McDonald’s, the Five Guys and Pagoda restaurants, Dinkytown Wine and Spirits and storage space owned by the Book House. The Dinkytown McDonald’s will be replaced with a new McDonald’s on the bottom floor of the complex.
