Re: Doug Woog RIP

They're all going to go for a price I don't think I'm going to be willing to pay. 10 days left, already $275+ depending on jersey. Interestingly, #3 is not in the lead. If it were me I'd want #3 (his Gopher number) or #58 (his HS number). I suppose size has something to do with it if you'd like to ...

Re: 2019-2020 Gopher Hockey Season Thread

I'd follow up and note that part of Woog's issue was his aversion to getting kids from the USHL instead of the MSHSL. The rest of the NCAA was getting older kids and Minnesotans who played a few years of juniors before coming in, and Woog ended up having to play our 18 year old frosh against their 2...

Too many Div I teams now to compete with for all that in-state talent, never mind how many high-end kids leave for UW, ND, BC, etc. I would love an all-MN team, but imho if they could recruit a team successfully with that intention they'd already be doing it. Re: Women's hockey

https://twitter.com/TheCWHL/status/1112358066303967232 Disappointing news. I assume this will mean the US league should get even better talent and the Whitecaps will be primed for an influx of new faces. I had heard rumblings of a potential merger between the two leagues as it were, so this will ef...

Re: 2019 Frozen Four -- Buffalo

It’s not St Paul, it’s also not Tampa...but there are worse places to attend a Frozen Four than Buffalo...Detroit comes to mind off the top πŸ˜‰ :biggrin2: I may be in the minority, but Detroit wasn't that bad. The worst part of that trip was playing the game in Ford Field. I liked the area around the...

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule

Considering the number of snowbirds there, their current rink seating about the same as Pagel, and I would assume a fair number of fans using the trip as a winter break in warm weather, that yes, there would be more fans there than would come to a series at Mariucci.

Re: 2019 - 2020 Schedule

I wasn't a big fan of the ASU team and I know there was no guarantee of a return date after playing them this year, but I would really like to travel to Tempe/Phx to watch the Gophers. However, they would need to play it in Glendale or downtown PHX to accommodate all the fans. The contract for the ...

Re: Women's hockey

The upside of this Gopher team is that we are young and will reload with a pretty good class coming in. Bucky is losing some huge talent and while still will be good, will take a step back. Gotta like our future. I didn't really follow many of the coaching decisions today, but it wouldn't have matte...

JFC how do the Gopher D not know that they need to move the puck quickly? They've played this team 5 times already this season and they still act like they don't know what to expect.
My comment exactly after the WCHA title game. Ugh.

Re: Minnesota High School Athletics (Non-Hockey)

In the State bouncy ball tourney, three of the four champs were Hopkins, a notorious recruiter, and two private schools. Is there as much animosity for them as there is for private schools winning hockey titles? I don't pay as much attention to B-ball. IMHO, MSHSL basketball, especially in the Twin...

Re: 2019 Frozen Four -- Buffalo

I am very excited, though moreso to get out of dodge for a few days. We're planning on doing the same-- heading up to Toronto to see the HHOF, and potentially heading to watch the Blue Jays play. We're flying into Rochester, though, as it was quite expensive to fly into Buffalo, and much more conven...

Re: Women's hockey

There has been some remodeling over the past year. Nicer, but no additional seating. Can't speak to the ice issue. I got a tour from the Blake AD. Totally remodeled the seating, office, and locker room areas and added lobby space as well as fixing up the physical plant. Still an old rink, locker ro...

Re: Constructive Criticism - Looking forward

I really have a feeling that nothing is going to change. The donations are here to stay and so are the single prices. I just do not think that the U has learned it's lesson yet. I assume the B1G got the revenue from the playoff series, correct? In that case, the athletic department wasn't really ou...

Re: Constructive Criticism - Looking forward

I have long felt the gameday experience has moved from a student-focused experience to a consumer-focused experience. When you remove the student band and you try standardizing the student section with a club, you are doing it wrong. If I want to go to a Wild game, I will go to a Wild game. What set...

Re: Women's hockey

Catie Skaja has a minus for the year (not plus/minus) of 4. There have been 18 Gophers on the ice for more even strength goals against than Catie!! And she is 8th on the team with a +/- of 20. I think she is one of the very best on the team in one on one battles. Kelly Pannek is running out of time...

Love to hear from current season ticket holders this year - Who is renewing or not renewing for the 2019/2020 season ? I have been a season ticket holder since 1994. I am not renewing for next season season ! Next and share your feedback. Motzko is in his first year and you're ready to bail on him ...

Re: Committed Recruits Update Thread

USHL message board saying Moe may have torn his acl. Not good if true. For what it is worth, Jared was apparently at our New Prague HS game against Mound Westonka on Tuesday of this week. I didn't see him myself, but I didn't notice anyone on crutches either-- though he could have had a brace on. I...
