Re: Gopher Basketball 2020-2021

What’s the point in waiting till the season ends Saturday? Does he get paid more if he gets fired during the season? IIRC there's a buyout price drop after April 30. It would save like 750k. But no team would wait that long to fire a coach. The buyout only drops from $1.75M to $1.5M. There is also ...

https://twitter.com/RussoHockey/status/1367224375988998145 This just rubs me the wrong way still. And then 'I'm going to be the first one on the ice to shoot pucks...' https://twitter.com/RussoHockey/status/1367192265303629827 I hope the rumors of a move to Nashville for a pick and a less horrible ...

Bill Baker from Grand Rapids became a dentist. Didn't Lou Nanne come to the U in part to become a dentist or is my memory fading? He then changed his major. :confused2: Yes... becoming a dentist kept him from considering North Dakota and a frog dissection gone wrong sent him on the business path.

https://theathletic.com/2301342/2021/01/09/minnesota-wild-2020-21-season-preview/ Dom Luszczyszyn ranked them third with analytics. Spurgeon 2.3 GSVA Suter 1.4 Brodin 1.3 Dumba 1.2 Soucy .7 Hunt .5 Ian Cole was a .6. I think you could argue that the stats might undervalue Brodin and Dumba a little b...

Re: 2020-2021 Schedule

The Gophers vs Michigan game on Friday is showing up as a replay on FSN on Saturday, which means it will be shown on FSN+ on Friday as Jup said. No replays of the Saturday game on FSN or the guide yet. My guide still has TBA both days on FSN+, but for me that is usually not updated until a couple o...

March 21. That answers that. :biggrin2: Thanks Vegoe! That's selection sunday. And Vegoe was probably half joking that we will not know the exact decision criteria before that, which would be awfully frustrating for fans. The best explanation you're going to get is this podcast. https://www.uscho.c...

If I were the B10 Commish, shootouts would only be a secondary tiebreaker and not have any impact on the standings. They are essentially meaningless, but just fun for everyone watching so that someone 'wins.'

So first we wanted winning percentage. Now we want points? I’m confused.

I just want the Gophers to continue winning. That is all we need!
It's win percentage -- it's what they went with back in November.

Re: 2020-2021 Schedule

And, Bob had said earlier that he would have preferred an off weekend toward the end of the season. Now, they definitely get one before the series vs Michigan, and maybe one after? That next weekend had been slated for make-up games, but if they're at the point of not making up all the games, how m...

Couldn't ask for a better start. Are we peaking at exactly the right time?
Lets pump the brakes a bit... MSU has a 7% power play, gives up an average of 40 shots a game and 48th in the country in goals scored per game 1.76.

Only change is Burke on 4th line and Sorenson extra skater and Stucker out as extra d. A bit surprised that the lines are pretty much the same after tBob's remarks after last nights game. I'm with you there, I didn't think that Brodzinski worked well at all with Walker/McLaughlin last night and was...

Hard to believe that Craig Norwich's 83 point season in 1976-77 didn't also lead the league, but somehow Dave Debol had 99 that year.

Re: 2020-2021 Schedule

What would Wisco want the conference to do? Aside from using points percentages, the only solution I can come up with that makes any kind of sense is to double the weight of the season opening series, but since we swept that series, that only helps us. Use the Hockey East calculation, which I'm not...
