Re: Gopher Basketball 2014-2019: The Quest for the Quint

Thought this was interesting in college basketball today. Gophers seem to have a hard time scheduling their non-conference games and played a bunch of neutral sites this year. https://www.athleticdirectoru.com/articles/investigating-college-basketball-buy-games/ The most common guarantee is a $90,00...

I just hope the size of the Donaldson contract doesn’t keep the Twins from improving the pitching. Re: Committed Recruits Update Thread

I do wonder if we're going to see some of these guys who weren't given NLIs to come in next year and were told to potentially wait a year, decide they'd rather pick a different school than play the extra year. Motzko certainly is hoping to get older.

Re: High School Hockey 2019-2020

Outside the Edina universe Charlie Stramel will be skating for Rosemount. Rosemount @ Minnetonka Saturday will be my first MSHSL game this year. Stramel is probably the other top 2004 HS player this year. I'll be interested to see how Rosemount does... most talent since that 2008 team lead by JT Br...

Canada has a pretty good squad for this one as well.

This post goes right over my head, would you be willing to give a little more info? He's a young 15 year-old and playing Edina varsity this year. Should be interesting to see how he does as he is a highly touted 2004. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/603664/jimmy-clark https://www.youthhockeyh...

Re: Badddgers this week

The seats we sat in last week for $38 are priced at $82 this week. How much do you want to bet they will be empty? This administration just doesn't get it. This might be one heck of a barometer for gopher hockey atmosphere right now. Last year against Wisconsin they had their biggest actual crowd. ...

Re: 2019-2020 Wild Season

I'd at least give Greenway a chance to win back pucks below the goal line and establish himself in front of the net on the power play https://twitter.com/EvolvingWild/status/1196487437226258433 I'd be calling up Mayhew to give him a month long shot with the NHL squad. Would have been nice to have hi...

Has DishTV made nice with Fox or vice versa yet?

Otherwise, it's to the radio stream, again . . . .
BTW I dropped DirecTV finally and switched to YouTube TV... it's been great for sports and DVR-ing. And I'm saving about $100/month.

Re: 2019-2020 Wild Season

What is said to the media and what is said behind closed doors are 2 different things, sometimes similar, sometimes completely different. Also what is said to the media for publication and what is said to the media off the record for context is sometimes completely different. I get the sense Guerin...

Re: 2019-2020 Gopher Hockey Season Thread

I won't tell anyone to 'get over it,' but I will tell them that it's not going back to the way it was. Going after Maize on his mindset... if Apple stopped making ipods back when that was the thing, imagine they lost a patent battle and had to close up shop... would people go back to a walkman or wo...

$ - https://theathletic.com/1373654/2019/11/13/mandels-mailbag-how-big-would-the-regular-season-be-if-we-had-an-eight-team-playoff-this-season/ Mandel breaks it down here saying that there are more games that matter if you expand. I just worry that you lose the meaning of every game mattering as well.

Re: Gopher Football 2019

If they go to eight, then I think we see a lot of marquee non-conference games go away. It'll be about trying to through the season undefeated or just one loss. I'd be okay with going to eight teams for the playoff if the power five conferences agreed they'd all schedule nine conference games and sc...

Can't contact him until Jan 1 and can't make an offer until Aug 1
Before the new rules were 'live' they were in touch with him and he's been on campus to see practice. He's a priority and has shown interest.
