Re: High School Hockey 2019-2020

Has a team representing Section 1A or 3A ever won a Quarterfinal game in Class A State Tournament history? St. Cloud Cathedral just trounced the 1A champ Mankato East/Loyola champ 11-2. I believe Red Wing was section 1A when they won it, but don't quite me on that. Rochester Lourdes has been in the...

Re: 2019-2020 Wild Season

I did take some time to look at the advanced stats, and I take an exception to some of the. Specifically the whole High-Danger / Low-danger thing. From what I read it only takes into account where on the ice the shot originated, that's it. So take for example Ovi's (first I think) goal on Sunday. A...

Or is it just a "tryout" for the end of this season?
They drafted him and had him on their affiliate list:

I'm sure this is a way to see if he's ready to make the leap next year or if NAHL is the right spot.

So that's a bit of a surprise... thought he was headed to the NAHL. This should be fun to follow to see how Kurth adjusts as it's a pretty big jump.

Re: Michigan vs #18 Gophers Feb 28 & 29

I agree, that's what I was getting at with the shooting talent comment. But even without a guy like that it's still 5 on 4 and you should be able to make enough passes to create some chances. IDK if Stucker is the only issue in terms of personnel but he's certainly up there in terms of most noticea...

Re: Michigan vs #18 Gophers Feb 28 & 29

I know Stucker seems to be public enemy #1, but he has 7 PP points this year. Not a ton by any means, but Walker has 9, Meyers has 7, McManus has 6, McLaughlin has 5, Ranta has 4. It shows how poor the PP is and it is more than Stucker that is the issue. The team as a whole lacks top end shooting t...

Re: Michigan vs #18 Gophers Feb 28 & 29

BC is basically the same average age so let's stop using that excuse. BC plays 6 senior forwards, and their top line has two seniors and a junior, and 4 senior defensemen, plus a junior in their top 6. Last night they only had 7 underclassmen skaters in the lineup (the Gophers had 14), so it's not ...

The idea of a true top six isn't as big of a deal in college hockey anymore. Top 9 is more accurate.
Hard to play nine forwards on the power play though ;)

Lou Nanne gives way more back to the state of Minnesota than he gets--fun to get a chance to talk with the whole family for a bit this season. None of these three were sure things to be Gophers.

Re: Committed Recruits Update Thread

It is unexpected, though I'd imagine many of the Galaxy players have a defined development route. Perhaps the NAHL is a better place to get acclimated and secure a Top 6 role before moving on to USHL. With all the delayed enrollments across college hockey it's a heck of a lot easier to make the lea...

I had a bunch of friends over for some brisket Saturday night, so the game was on in the other room. After the game, Big Ten network has a special on gophers from the Herb era. Does anyone know where I can find that video? I can't find it on the Big Ten network site. Bill the Dog https://www.btnplu...

Sorenson out I wish I was as optimistic about Sorenson's future stardom as Clymer is. I wouldn't be so quick to make a predicition on Sorenson's potential. He's probably played less hockey and done less hockey specific training than just about anyone on the roster. I'd bet he's a very different pla...

For all the attendance talk, penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State were all sold out buildings tonight.
The B10 realignment has been good for everyone except Minnesota... Wisconsin has their own issues, but I don't think they are WCHA/B10 specific.

He’s been on the radar since at least last year and he could have played bantams this year. If anything it’s probably best for him not to have to worry about being recruited and make a decision too soon.

Apparently some conversation that Trocheck is not really a center though... kind of that tweener type who can be a pivot for the offense, but not a two-way guy. I'd be interested to see what Henrik Borgström would look like with a change of scenery. Also I heard there was a need in the Wild's system...

As you might have seen me tweet, Regent Rosha thought that in future deals there should be some focused on attendance and revenues instead of academics and competitive success. Also interesting note that there is a bonus for playing in the CFP...
