Re: 2020-2021 Gopher Hockey Season Thread - Year 100 of Pride On Ice

Is Staudacher unavailable? My bad... and I was just transcribing his interview. He's excited to go back to Michigan in what's usually a homecoming trip for him, but no family this time. He got to see some of his family two weeks ago, but sounds like the team is really trying to insulate themselves ...

With Stucker "back sometime", looks like only 6 defensemen will be available, for Michigan. Hope they stay health.
Motzko said Stucker is back in the lineup now, so maybe we'll see this lineup in Ann Arbor.

Re: NHL 2019-20 season

I'd like Boston if Marchand got dumped off the roster.

Hedman has gotten so much better the last couple years.

I don't like the pandemic, but I'm really enjoying the hockey schedule right now.

Re: Potential Future Recruits - Part II

The only bright side is he could be a one and done or major junior kid.

But these are the types of kids Motzko couldn't get at SCSU and wanted to have the chance to coach at Minnesota.

Re: Committed Recruits Update Thread

Ratzlaf talked to Wisconsin's 247 page again and basically reconfirmed he will wait and see where he is drafted in the NHL draft and then decide between hockey and football, but while he says it's tied for football it sure seems like he will be Badger bound if football is the choice. So hope he get...

Re: 2019-2020 Wild Season

Pronman had the Wild taking the Russian goalie Askarov at 9 in his mock. Says he's currently signed through 2022 with SKA in the KHL. First time I'd seen that name linked to the Wild (granted I just started looking into mock drafty things after they got knocked out). Is the league not very high on ...

Re: NHL 2019-20 season

It would be refreshing to see a non-major team like Winnipeg, Minnesota, Nashville etc win. Selfishly Minnesota would be awesome, as it would be cool to see him and Kaprizov play together. According to some on this board, even if the Wild win the lottery, the Wild should draft a 2 way center, Alexi...

Re: NCAA hockey 2020-2021 season

Keep in mind with UST being a private school, the $45K includes profit. My guess is they can easily do without profiting from the athletes and even write off those "losses." UST may even be doing so now with a number of their athletes. Also, as with any of these universities, the money they spend o...

Re: NCAA hockey 2020-2021 season

I don't think St. Thomas is going to have many financial issues. UST raised about $36M in FY 2019 and has an endowment of nearly $500M as of FY 2019 that has almost doubled in the past decade. Just to compare to some other institutions... SCSU raised $10.6 M in FY 2019 and has an endowment of $29M.....

Complete MSU team in 14 day quarantine https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29531742/entire-michigan-state-football-team-quarantine So if this happened during the season, MSU would have to miss at least two games. Even if CFB does plow ahead with the season, I can't imagine they end up ...

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014-2020: Here's Your Damn Thread

The other thing with baseball is that it's pretty simple to swap players in and out of the lineup if there are players who do pick up the virus. While it's tough to lose your top pitcher or position players, it's a game where teams can figure it out. I think the drop off when a hockey team could los...

I'm probably in the boat where I'll rush to get it if the experts I trust. Dr. Michael T. Osterholm, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Bill Morice, Donald G. McNeil Jr., are convinced it's safe and recommending we take that step. I've got two young schoolage kids and imagine I'll be coaching youth hockey again...

Again, this speculation ignores how close Illinois is to a hockey program. If Illinois adds, do they give whoever comes in the boot? I can't imagine they would want to go to 9 teams. I have to think Arizona State is a better candidate realistically with their new arena. Easy to bring in for a sched...

This guy has lots of connections in college athletics and has called a number of UMN news ahead of time.

We shall see what happens in the year ahead, but it'd be entertaining to see his prognostication come true.

I've got a baseball coach acquaintance that says he's got a D1 bat for baseball if he wanted to pursue it -- don't see many like him any more.
