It would be interesting to see how many world series have been won by league-average pitching. Not many, if any, is my guess.

Need one ace (twins don't have one) and a good supporting rotation, plus solid middle relief and a shut down closer. Does that describe the Twins' staff?

I don't see a huge problem with the hit. Yeah he took a charge, but Kassian had the puck, was skating in that direction and certainly didn't have his back turned. Re: 2019-2020 Wild Season

Wild named the NHL's most mediocre team of the decade... https://twitter.com/DownGoesBrown/status/1213110067559641099 1. Minnesota Wild: It feels like it couldn’t be anyone else, right? The Wild finished the decade with three more wins than losses. They made the playoffs more often than not (six ti...

Re: College football 2019

I thought WI got jobbed on the soft offensive PI call, but they have to look into the mirror on the turnovers....that last one killed them. They were driving at mid field for a two score lead which likely salts the game away. Instead, they fumble, and it's the Ducks who score and go up by one. The s...

Re: Gopher Football 2019

Just a great year. Gophers didn't do anything lucky or fluky to get this far, and they didn't get lucky today. In fact, they coughed the ball up on their first drive deep inside their own end and gave up a TD on a kick off. That kind of stuff usually equates to a loss in a game like this. Instead, t...

Still can't pass block. Not even trying to get you going. Vikes 7th in rush attack this year and Cousins was one of the least sacked QBs and one of the highest rated. No idea where this Oline ranks in those advanced stats but I would bet it isn’t horrible and i know they aren’t anywhere comparable ...

Re: 2019-2020 Gopher Hockey Season Thread

How about an unpopular opinion? This team has played decent hockey after the North Dakota faceplant .......and game 2 v. UND was not a shabby effort. Some of the kids are starting to get it. On the back end (Staudacher, Johnson, Lacombe) are becoming confident, physical, aggressive. Meyers and Nels...

Re: Home Ownership

In our new house, we are noticing there is excessive condensation around the windows, especially given the colder temps now. Wondering what we can do as it looks like a couple spots have some mold damage on the edge of the wood. I briefly read it may have to do with humidity but not sure. They said...

Re: Mariucci Classic 12/28 & 12/29

Classic set up for SCSU to let down after whooping Mankato. Gophers beat a stingy BSU last night and a fast moving SCSU team tonight. Two different styles, two wins. This may have been the Gophers best game so far this season, and LaFontaine's best game as a Gopher. He really was solid tonight and j...

I feel sorry for the fans today....dragging yourself to a throw away game because your so-called playoff team can't win a Monday night home game against the Packers...to watch your scrubs get beat by a garbage Bear team.

Any gopher coaches at the game?? Maybe scouting Hallum or Messenberg
Based on recent experience, I'd rather see them flipping over rocks in the peat bogs of northwestern Minnesota or sitting at a bar in Duluth waiting for the Greyhound game to start.

Re: Mariucci Classic 12/28 & 12/29

This is the worst team I can remember. I am not sure who our good players are. I know who they are supposed to be but it is ugly. At this point in the season, most talented forward is Ben Meyers and most talented defenseman is Johnson...both learning on the job. Reedy works his tail off and has bee...

Re: Vikings 2019 season

Boyd points to the falling flag as the Bears' receiver continued to talk $h!t....classic stuff right there. If this team were good enough to beat the class of the division they'd have something to play for today. As it is, the fans are getting hosed over having to watch a game with all the cachet of...

Re: Mariucci Classic 12/28 & 12/29

I was at that game tonight. Oof. What a crappy offensive effort....or is that a crappy, offensive effort? :) Gophers offensive zone time some of the worst I can ever remember. Walker skates himself into 1 on 3s more than even Nate Condon did as a freshman, and McLaughlin needs to learn to dump the p...

Re: Gopher Hockey All-Decade Team

You guys pick your own all-decade teams -- Novak and Boyd were my next two forwards left off my list. I wanted to have a 'fourth line' of guys I thought did the program proud during their days in the program and not just make it a top points list. Jack Ramsey? You must be joking.  I get...

Honestly, I'm just glad they played their way back into competitive hockey...with the Mariucci vacuum this year it's a welcome relief. I've been observing Ek lately, and man that guy knows how to get under the skin of an opposing player, displaying almost zero emotion while committing one impercepti...

Re: 2019-2020 Wild Season

Duby was better than Colorado's goalie tonight, and that set the pace. Fiala is all over the ice. The young guys the Wild got for Nino & company are really coming along and it's fun to see. These young guys aren't getting pushed around, and even Rask is contributing. It's nice that the veteran guys ...

Re: Gopher Hockey All-Decade Team

When I first saw this thread I imagined as a 20 man roster, curious to see what others would pick for it if they had to. I'm generally of the philosophy that you skate the best 12 forwards you've got rather than seeking "intangible" traits for the fourth line. F Bjugstad/Haula/Rau Sheehy/Kloos/Pitl...
