New Scoreboard & Sound System for Mariucci

New Scoreboard & Sound System for Mariucci

A brand new scoreboard and sound system will be added to both Mariucci and Williams Arena's this summer. On Thursday (5/10), the UofM Board of Regents approved a $8 million dollar loan to pay for the improvements to both arena's.

Mariucci's new HD video screen will be roughly 11.6 feet tall and 14.9 feet wide. The old video board at Mariucci was 6 X 8 in size... In addition to the new scoreboards and sound, Mariucci and Williams will also get ribbon boards to go around the arena. For Mariucci the new ribbon board will be in front of the suites, club room and press box. It should be a spectacular addition... The last thing approved is production studio that will be built at TCF Bank Stadium to produce the video board content for Mariucci, Williams, and TCF Bank Stadium.

For the fans, I think the new sound system will be greatly appreciated. For years people have complained about how bad the sound has been at Mariucci. Hopefully now you'll be able to hear what rink announcer Jamie Verbrugge actually says in his little responses after announcing "1 minute remaining in the period".

Below is a concept of what the scoreboard at Mariucci will look like. Obviously this is not final, but it at least gives you a good idea of what it will look like.... Welcome to the 21st century Mariucci!!! Is it October yet?!?!

Gophers Swept

Bulldogs Take Rubber Match, Series

Well, at least it’s only November and not March. And things were not as bleak as last night. The Gophers were beaten 2 – 1 on Saturday night and swept in a series for the first time in almost five years. It was a fairly even game and while the Gophers really came back in the last 10 minutes, they were unable to even things up and head home for a bit of a break with some confusing issues after the first six weeks of the season.

Not the start that the Gophers wanted after a really ugly game on Friday. The Gophers played a much bet...

Gophers Shutout by Bulldogs 3-0, Lose First at Home since 2013

Minnesota Outshot, Outclassed by Duluth

Minneapolis- In a long hockey season, there are bound to be good nights and bad nights.

Tonight was one of those bad ones.

The Gophers (7-2-0 Overall) were beaten in every facet of the game, looking slow, sloppy and anything but the #1 team in the nation. UMD, on the other hand, looked quick and prepared. Coming off a sweep of St. Cloud last weekend, the Bulldogs are now 7-4-0 on the season and look like a team that could be near the top of the NCHC come March.

UMD got on the board early and never l...

Big First Period Propels Gophers to Weekend Sweep

Three Goal First Too Much to Overcome for Charging Irish

Minneapolis, MN - We may be shoveling snow come Monday morning in the Twin Cities. In Mariucci Arena Sunday evening, though, the Gophers were content with sweeping.

In a rare 4:00 Sunday tilt, the Minnesota Gophers (7-1-0 Overall) used three first-period goals to beat the Fighting Irish (5-4-1) and continue the nation's longest home unbeaten streak at 17 games.

Minnesota got on the board early, scoring on the first shift of the game at just 0:29. Sam Warning took the puck out of the right corner, curling aro...
