New Scoreboard & Sound System for Mariucci

New Scoreboard & Sound System for Mariucci

A brand new scoreboard and sound system will be added to both Mariucci and Williams Arena's this summer. On Thursday (5/10), the UofM Board of Regents approved a $8 million dollar loan to pay for the improvements to both arena's.

Mariucci's new HD video screen will be roughly 11.6 feet tall and 14.9 feet wide. The old video board at Mariucci was 6 X 8 in size... In addition to the new scoreboards and sound, Mariucci and Williams will also get ribbon boards to go around the arena. For Mariucci the new ribbon board will be in front of the suites, club room and press box. It should be a spectacular addition... The last thing approved is production studio that will be built at TCF Bank Stadium to produce the video board content for Mariucci, Williams, and TCF Bank Stadium.

For the fans, I think the new sound system will be greatly appreciated. For years people have complained about how bad the sound has been at Mariucci. Hopefully now you'll be able to hear what rink announcer Jamie Verbrugge actually says in his little responses after announcing "1 minute remaining in the period".

Below is a concept of what the scoreboard at Mariucci will look like. Obviously this is not final, but it at least gives you a good idea of what it will look like.... Welcome to the 21st century Mariucci!!! Is it October yet?!?!

St. Paul, Minn. – The Gophers hoped to boost their Pairwise Ranking this weekend in the North Star College Cup playing games against the Mavericks and Bulldogs—they’ll get a chance to play against Minnesota-Duluth, but not the way they expected.

Minnesota State (19-4-1) stifled Minnesota (11-8-2) through the neutral zone and beat them in transition as Mavericks won their first ever game at Xcel Energy Center 4-2 in front ...

Rivalry Reborn as Gophers Beat Bucky 5-2

Minneapolis, Minn. – Well that escalated quickly.

Photo by: Craig Cotner Sam Warning scores in the 1st, putting MN up 2-0 Minnesota is meandering through the middle of its season according to coach Don Lucia. The team has been piling up the shots without much to show for it and the team is 3-6-2 in their last 11 games. Saturday night was a different story though as Travis Boyd lead his team with two goals, an assist, and Minnesota (11-7-2) beat Wisconsin (2-13-3) 5-2 in front of 10,384.

Gophers Blow Late 3rd Period Lead, Lose Shootout vs UW

"Frankly, it's embarrassing" - Travis Boyd

Minneapolis, MN - If this isn't rock bottom, then I don't know what is.

The Minnesota Gophers (10-7-2 Overall, 1-2-2-0 B1G) saw their two-goal third period lead evaporate in less than two minutes, and couldn't muster a game-winner, eventually falling to the horrendous Wisconsin Badgers (2-12-3 Overall, 0-2-1-1 B1G) in the shootout.

You've seen this movie before: the Gophers absolutely dominated the first period, holding Wisconsin to just three total shots (their first coming with just about five minutes left in th...
