GPL will break down the region a bit more in the days ahead. The games will be held at 12PM and 4PM on Saturday, with the regional final at 4:30PM on Sunday. You can watch the Saturday game live on FSNorth PLUS. The final on Sunday will be live on ESPNU.

Friday night was not the result that anyone who follows the Maroon and Gold was looking for. In fact based on the last half-dozen years or so it was about the worst type of result possible. But if offered this scenario five months ago, would you have jumped at it?

The teams that comprise the region probably disturb anyone who wants the Gophers to advance to Tampa. But let’s face facts: going through things this way is about the only means to redemption for this program anyway.

If this team is full of the competitors that it should be, they should all be relishing at the opportunity in front of them. They were all punched right in the face on Friday night and morphed into Roberto Duran. A lot of this year will go for naught if they go out next weekend with a whimper. It’s time for this program to reverse the trends of the last handful of years, and find a way to move on, any way possible.
